  • Come with me as I explore the site of the former western movie filming location, later turned popular amusement park, Corriganville.
The park predated Disneyland and Universal Studios and was incredibly popular back in it’s day with 10,000 to 20,000 visitors each weekend.
“Crash” Corrigan founded the park which offered tours of the movie lots, stunt shows, a working western town, Indian craft exhibits, along with pony and boat rides.
A divorce eventually led to the park’s downfall. Bob Hope ended up purchasing the ranch, transforming it into Hope Town, which also later went out of business.
The remaining buildings burned in a fire and the city later purchased the property and turned it into the park that it is today.

I was there and rode with Crash through his town on his horse and The Sons of the Pioneers sang Little Girl Dressed in Blue on the town stage to me and all the people. It was wonderful and i have pictures of it. I loved Crash.

I have a picture of my dad when he was a little boy with crash Corrigan at the ranch. His older sister Ruth Ann Rowe who passed away in 1959 was a stunning model in Hollywood and I think my grandma told me they were there for something to do with her maybe she was acting with him or something

Only small parts of Gunsmoke were filmed at the Corriganville ranch--when the characters had to be in "another town" that wasn't Dodge City. The ranch also "played" Mineral City in some [but not all] of the Roy Rogers TV shows.

Also known as the Lone Ranger ranch where episodes of the 1950s t.v. show were filmed there.

Fort Apache [1948] was not the first film shot there--films were being shot there as early as ten years earlier--1938--including Roy Rogers first starring film.

At one time, the city had plans to recreate & rebuild part of Corriganville as a tourist attraction. Sadly, it never happened.
