    2:30, Swing dance, use the standing leg to drive to the center balance.
    Tango, use the free leg to strike out to the center balance.

    Great explanation. Maybe you can do a tutorial on the Closing action in Tango. I always have been taught to take a bit wider step, between the previous figure and the actual closing step. It's as if your left foot (Man) is pretty much accented on the Quick before the Slow of closing. Best to describe it from.a PP, so you can incorporate the flick action as well. Thoughts?

    I have heard many times that in tango, you should lift your feet off the floor when moving them, unlike the swing dances. I see here, that you keep the foot on the floor until you do the flick action and then it only briefly leaves the floor. Is this a new style or variation?

    • @VasilyKirin
      @VasilyKirin  3 года назад +2

      Hello! Thank you for your comment!
      It isn’t new style . Basically we don’t have to lift our feet from the floor…

    • @jaxonh.6330
      @jaxonh.6330 3 года назад +1

      I think it depends on the type of step. In a regular tango walk you should maintain foot pressure with the floor

    Hi Vasily, thank you for these great videos, they help a lot. My question is with regard to tango walks. I see many "good dancers" lift their feet completely off the ground during tango walks. Is this good technique? I notice you drag your toe forward while keeping the foot at a 45 degree angle. This is how I was taught to do it. Again thank you very much, cheers

    • @VasilyKirin
      @VasilyKirin  3 года назад +3

      Thank you for your comment!
      Basically we have to keep our feet on the floor..
      To lift one foot from the floor it is not a big mistake, usually it is expression and feelings

    • @audsf2028
      @audsf2028 3 года назад +3

      I`m sorry, but the dancers who lift their feet in tango are really good dancers!
      and you should open the technique book where in black and white you can find the next words: "The feet are slightly lifted and placed on each step, rather than sliding them into position as in the other dances"

    Where do you and Ekaterina Prozorova teach? Do you live in Russia? I wish I could find teachers like you, who can explain each movement so clearly, that there is no confusion to what you need to do. Many teachers say what you are not doing, and don't ever explain how to do it correctly. English isn't even your first language, and I you make it as clear as "a bell." Thank you so much.

    Modern Ballroom Dancing
    Victor Silvester
    Page 33
    Towards September 1918 'dips' and twinkles began to go out
    of fashion, and the Foxtrot showed a strong tendency to develop
    into a really smooth dance.
    With the coming of Jazz music also arrived a new step which
    was destined to exercise an enormous influence on the Foxtrot:
    it was originally known as the Jazz Roll, and it was, undoubtedly,
    the forerunner of the Three-Step.
