This man has dedicated his voice for nearly 50 years. 40 alone to Optimus Prime. He IS THE definitive Optimus Prime. Literally one of the greatest voices in fiction. Just as recognizable as James Earl Jones aka Darth Vader. Peter Cullen has also voiced The Predator, Eeyore in Winnie the Pooh, and King Kong's roar in the 1976 version.
The man is a national treasure.

It's amazing how strong his voice still is at 81...a lot of people lose power and resonance in their voices as they age, but he's still got it.

The goosebumps when he talks like his brother and sounds just like Optimus, you can feel that he was the biggest inspiration for the character's voice. Hearing Peter Cullen as Optimus Prime is out of this world, he truly is Optimus Prime and it makes me really happy for all the love he's is receiving now.

A few years ago, I met Peter Cullen at the Calgary Comic Expo. Got his autograph and a photo with him, but my favourite part was when I asked him to say "Autobots, transform and roll out!" He didn't miss a beat and sounded exactly like any of the movies or shows. Incredible actor who plays an incredible character.

This guy is in the same realm with guys like Kevin Conroy as Batman, Mark Hamill as Joker, ect. When you think of these characters, their voices pop up in your head. For most people at least. Peter Cullen's voice as Optimus will always be legendary and timeless.
Peter Cullen began playing Optimus Prime in 1984, and has since been the main voice of the character. A unique voice with a remarkable personality. The fact that he has been playing this same iconic character for 39 years is something that needs to be appreciated. Impressive.

Peter Cullen is truly a legend. When i saw Transformers 1 about 16 years ago, that was the first time i heard Optimus Prime's voice but i didn't know that it was him until i watched the behind the scenes in 2014. And the inspiration he got from his brother, Larry Cullen is so important and inspiring because it got to where Peter Cullen is until now. He is truly a hero. Both Peter and Larry are heroes. And I can imagine that Larry is proud of Peter right now. So thank you Peter Cullen for everything you did as Optimus Prime and everyone else you voice acted as. And Thank you Larry Cullen for inspiring your brother Peter Cullen. He wouldn't be here right now if it wasn't for you.

That too was the first time I met Peter's Optimus when I saw transformers in the theater 16 years ago and I didn't even know his earlier history with the transformers as optimus before until until both later into the movie franchise and I got the internet for my home.

I used to see the first live action movie of Transformers in 2007 from my childhood when I was 6 years old but my Brother took me out to the movies when he was in The United States Army
As a 80s kid this really hit me in the feels Optimus was my hero. We love you too Peter.

He makes me smile and cry at the same time. This man was a major part of my childhood. When they killed Optimus Prime off in 1986 I was crushed. Peter was crushed too. So glad they brought Optimus back in the series, he’s irreplaceable.

Prime's death is one of the memorable on-screen tragedies of my childhood. It's up there, maybe even beyond when Garfield sees Odie taken to the pound.
@@bromixsr it definitely was. It’s still the biggest tearjerker moment I’ve ever seen. Because I saw kids, AND mothers crying! They were like what is this?!? The outrage was huge back then. Rodimus Prime who to this day is arguably the most hated Transformer, was never accepted by anyone. And they saw the ratings tank on the tv series, and Hasbro realized they made a grave mistake, thus The Return of Optimus Prime.
Fun little tidbit: I went to see The Last Knight and Hot Rod got booed in the theater when he showed up 😆

Trust me, 20 years before you were introduced to him, in 1984 an entire generation before you was feeling the same goosebumps when we heard his commanding voice. Next year will be 40 years this man has been the voice of Leadership. And every time I hear his voice, I become that little 7 year old all over again.

I don't think anyone else can make a better voice for Optimus Prime, peter just has that strong bold and calming voice that really fits Optimus Prime's character most.
Peter Cullen is an absolute legend. Optimus was always my childhood hero and as bad as some of the TF films have been, hearing him voice Optimus made each movie worth sitting through. I'll never forget those chills from the first Bayformers when "Before Time Began..." played and I realized it was the man himself still voicing Optimus.

I've heard the origins of Peter's voice for Prime one too many times now and it never gets old.
Optimus is that unique leader that exudes quality of a hero yet he's gentle despite his large size but aggresive when need be.
Its great he's continuing his Brother's legacy through Optimus till now and I hope whoever takes over after Peter will take those attributes to heart as well cause we need more heroes to look up to like him.

I'm not even a fan of Transformers, but I have tremendous respect for great voice actors (I can't stand just casting celebrities to do voices), and for actors who respect franchises they've been in for years and the fans. And this guy is both. A class act.

Peter Cullen was a part of my childhood, growing up with the transformers movies and cartoons. Optimus prime is inspirational, his speeches just give chills whenever something seems to be lost and that tiny chance of hope shines bright when he starts talking.

It's always iconic. What I appreciate most is that Peter is getting recognized more than he was in the Bay movies.

Peter Cullen made Optimus who he is: a legend not just in the Transformers community, but in all of fiction.
I always love these interviews of iconic voice actors that give us insight on what events kinda led up to the audition.
Peter Cullen is a definitive voice for Optimus Prime to the point that the words he took from his brother about the role are the purest form of what Optimus Prime should be. Strong enough to be gentle.
There will be more Optimus Primes, for sure, but Peter will always be the first and most iconic for many generations.
I love that they gave Peter the spotlight that he absolutely deserves! It’s always a joy to hear him as Prime and I’ve always loved his mantra, of sorts, when it came to voicing Prime:

It’s a beautiful sentiment that perfectly encapsulates who Optimus Prime is. A leader that doesn’t command strength or loyalty or trust through brash means, but instead by the purity of their character and their values. I think it’s why we all love Optimus Prime and I’m so grateful Peter has been able to lend his heart and soul to voicing this character for so many years!
This is one of my favorite stories and well it taught me to be strong enough to be gentle. peter Cullen and Larry Cullen are awesome! So much inspiration.

Absolute legend! I’ve seen all the Transformers movies in theatres since 2007. From a kid to grown man, I will always love these films.

I met him at the Calgary comic con couple of months ago. Such a huge honor and the line up for him was nuts. Such a down to earth person. I said to him, "Thank you for being such an iconic part of my childhood." Just how he responded felt really geniune and said made his day hearing stuff like that. It was honestly of the best days of my life meeting him. till all are one!
