    The elves being as good as they were, also had to cope with a lot. The elves were the most tormented beings of middle earth. They are immortal and their perception of existence is a lot different than anyone else in middle earth. Everything to the elves was fleeting, and everything they experienced felt brief to them. What feels like many years to men, feels like one year to the elves. Everyone they knew throughout their lives seemed to expire very quickly. The elves always struggled with this, and its why many elves gave up their immortality to fight for the free peoples of middle earth.

    "Gandalf's death was not in vain, nor would he have you give up hope. You carry a heavy burden, Frodo. Don't carry the weight of the dead." Scenes like this one really make me feel for Boromir, and I wish all of Boromir's extra scenes had been kept in the theatrical versions. They really add to his character and really add to the gravity of the scene when he falls.

    • @Cool70sfreak
      @Cool70sfreak 4 года назад +28

      @@radumarinescu355 Well yeah, he wasn't really bad, and being drawn in by the ring isn't entirely from any weakness of his own. A lot of it is pressure by Denethor on him and also the constant burden of knowing his people are dying and suffering to keep Sauron's forces at bay. Any man would be weakened by all that pressure and stress. He really is trying to do what's best for Gondor, even if a bit misguided at times.

      Boromir had possession of the ring and still managed to give it back to Frodo. The movies made him look weak when in the books he is loyal and strong willed. He is just the most desperate to defeat the dark lord and the ring prays on his desperation. Had the fellowship stayed together the same would have happened to the rest.

    • @necrosunderground
      @necrosunderground 2 года назад +6

      @@sacjones7341 it could be argued that the ring sensed that when Boromir had it that one time, it didn't exert its will then because they would have caught him. Easier to bide its time and wait until Boromir was alone with Frodo. And I disagree that the movies made him look weak, because he clearly isn't. But he *is* vulnerable because of how desperate he is turn the tide and save Gondor. Again, that isn't a weakness, it's a very human thing to feel the pride of being the land that holds the darkness at bay while also fearing that their time is short and no one seems to be coming to help them.

      They changed that around in the movie so when Faramir met Frodo and Sam they were blindfolded to add emotion and a sense of haste to their meeting. A lot of the books quotes or inner monologues were also given to different characters. So Sam seeing the Haradrim and wondering if "They were really evil at heart" was given to Faramir in the movie.

      Since this is a movie, a visual medium, I believe they felt it was more important for the audience to see the actors' eyes. Also, while Lothlorien is clearly wonderful in the movie, Peter Jackson really wants to drive home the uncertainty of the quest following Gandalf's death. That's why the music is so ambivalent for Lothlorien, by turns foreboding and wondrous but never clear in tone.

      @belegthoron8603 7 лет назад +22

      Tel W the men of the south ( like Boromir) and the North (like Aragorn) are pretty much the same ...they both descend from Númenor. But there is a difference too: the men of the south ( Gondor) lost almost completely their "royal blood" for a civil war called the Kinstrife. But the men of the North kept their royal blood and remain as Dunedain. But the kingdom of Arnor (North) was destroyed by the Witch King of Angmar , and they became a wondering people.

    • @SantomPh
      @SantomPh 7 лет назад +31

      This is wrong. Boromir and the current rulership of Gondor are not well known to the men of Lothlorien, especially since he is of the Stewards' line and not the king. His people actually drew a border at the Argonath (the two massive statues we see later) and Gondor went no further north. The Elves themselves don't know much of the outside world in the book, with Haldir stating that even his own brothers don't speak the Common Tongue. If anything it's Gondor that has a beef with Lothlorien, as their previous king Amdir almost lost the War of the Last Alliance by foolishly charging Sauron's forces.
      Aragorn on the other hand is well known to Lothlorien as he was raised by Elrond to adulthood and actually travelled there to rest after long journeys in the wild. Had he come alone or with Legolas, there would be no problems.

      @belegthoron8603 2 года назад +1

      @G E T R E K T First, read my comment again, but slowly. I said "almost completly". Second, don't call me a liar, since clearly after the Kinstrife the blood of Numenor faded and barely remained in people like the Stewards and the men of Dol Amroth like Imrahil.
      If you are gonna acuse someone of being a liar, at least read better and use better ideas.

So beautiful with golden trees and ground... clear streams and a light that was so bright you could see the darkness on the other side of the anduin.
