The photo how to transfer it to a larger paper.. and everything on ur list . I know l need to practice n l am planning to trying out all your different steps. Once again my grateful appreciation of your generous sharing ur skills n knowledge . I promise to try all ur tips n let you know how successful I have been. Thank u so much for getting back to me so quickly Michele. Stay safe . 💖
I did a face-to-face drawing course and one of the things you mention here was suggested - using shapes to situate elements on your picture. We were looking at a still-life drawing, but your suggestion here for flowers is the same. I have found this idea very valuable when I'm trying to accurately draw the positioning, shape of elements. This was a very useful video Michele. All the tips were useful and not the same ol', same ol' tips people generally provide about drawing.
I make my own embossing tools, they wear down rather quickly,as they are made from bone, and,at times,Hippo ivory. This is part of the overall aesthetic experience, the tools are part of that experience. To handle them, see them being used,to feel the tool in the hand,it thrills the mind.
All the tips are new to me, and wow to all of them. My horse head and lips!!. Everything. Thank you. You have the gift of creating art, but also, the gift of teaching. Thank you so very much Michelle. !!!!
Yes, I am interested in acrylic teaching films. I was taught oils way back at art college, but thought I would try acrylics. Thank you for all your wonderful videos!
Like the tips some remind me of a ceramics teacher I had she also used net curtains/ nets from fruits etc as textures on clay pots as you used under paper, so many useful tips so I’ll definitely use this for reference! Thanks.
After seeing the amazing drawings from your students taking your drawing class, I plan on signing up. First I want to finish your beginning watercolor class which is helping me so much.
Wow, lots of fun tips and techniques. I just got a new set of embossing tools for my manicure painting that I can use also for my watercolor painting. I was seriously thinking what in the world is she going to be doing with the grater? Grate color pencils, graphite, pastels? Never thought about using it for the texture. I’m definitely looking forward to taking the drawing course when it’s available.
Wonderful! The course is available for purchase now, don't wait until launch date as the price goes up after that. You can buy at a discount then access it on 19th December :-)
its always been my daily struggle in improving my art skills. ive been watching alot of videos yet i am not able to absord all of it. can you please critique my art video.. i need an expert opinion
art is so difficult but even so i am really passionate about it. even though i work hard my work wont improve at all. can you critique my art video please. i need some insight
Very clear descriptions of helpful tips. I've drawn since childhood and even tapped into drawing books and videos to improve my skills. Still, I didn't know many of the tips. The most helpful one for me is drawing thru other objects -- something I need to do all the time in my Nature Journaling. Just this week I did it, as usual, the "wrong way". Now I know why it just doesn't look right to the eye. Will start using this IMMEDIATELY! AND I've already LIKED and SUBSCRIBED. Thank you from North Carolina.
You always make so much sense. Not just with duty & purpose.. but joy& freedom.. so many basics I've felt stupid to ask..How? It gives me freedom to draw feeling I've conquered a few hurdles.. love all your tips.. when I get settled in a drawing area I'm gonna figure out how to subscribe.. what that entails & ??? I'm 73 but so need to find my joy again.. you are a little bubble of joy and learning.. thanks so much..
Hi there! I love your videos! I am struggling with drawing, feel like I have zero skills! I really appreciate your orderly fashion to present your tips and tricks! I get very calm because I trust you and find that I relax more because you are so professional, and that you clearly know what you are talking about! So thank you for posting the videos on how to, and improve in drawing, and also painting. I have set a goal for 2022, and it is to improve my ability to draw and paint with watercolor. So your videos are a big inspiration, and I dont lose hope, you get me to believe that there is hope for me yet. I am looking forward to learning more from you! Lots of hugs from Norway, Katla Dragon 🥳🥳🥳🐉
drawing through was especially helpful. It has improved what I attempt to draw. I've had good success with the sunflower piece and am really enjoying my new vision tricks for drawing flower shapes. I've had more success with landscapes, sky/ground, after watching this. (not my first time watching, maybe #3!) Your part on faces is challenging me to give it a try .. eek!!! Been more into plants, but want to draw ppl too! I'm also working on using guidelines which to me are daunting! I finally got some tracing paper without beating myself up!! Love the piece on textures that will be fun!! Thank you!! I'm practicing these techniques everyday, one or another as was suggested I read, draw/paint everyday. I'm so grateful for all your videos, love them! I've recommended them in other groups I'm a member on FB and friends. Thank you!!
Superb video Michele, and such a great variety of useful and helpful drawing tips for us budding artists. I have found the advice you gave for drawing faces extremely useful when drawing animals, but I had forgotten all about etching, so thank you for this 😊. Your drawing course will be invaluable for a wide range of abilities and interests, and I have no doubt will be sought after. Thank you so oooh much for all your help and hard work🙏 Audrey 😘💕xxx
its amazing how other people do things flawlessly yet mines not even i struggle endlessly.. even though.. ill continue pushing on no matter what.. even though my art really suck, all i need is a harsh and honest critique.. even though itll hurt.
Thanks Michele! You are such an expert! I started out with you (for watercolor,) been all over the web, and still find you to be the most articulate and talented teacher. I will really use the first four tips; I'm not ready for faces and animals yet!
I have already bought your upcoming drawing course, and can't wait until it starts! I've taken several drawing courses, so I was a little hesitant to take another one, but just from these tips, I can see that the course will be extremely helpful and I will learn new things! Thanks so much!
Thank you for your tips on drawing, . I am very greatful for your help n encouragement u made it seem very easy to follow Ur advice . You are very talented artist n teacher n generous sharing Ur free information videos. I am in awe of Ur positivity for people like myself to follow Ur tutorial n learn something new. Thanks for Ur kindness in sharing Ur knowledge n skills. 🌻💐
I would like to say thank you, first of all. I wanted to learn the proper way to watercolor and out of the 60 artist I reviewed on RUclips you were in my top 3. So I’ve watch a lot of your videos! Now I’m trying to advance my drawing skills cause they impact my watercolor and the tips you provide are excellent! I’ll keep at it till I get it right! Thank you for all your hard work.
Love the reminder to draw through which has really improved my sketch studies. Saving up to take your full course !!!! Drawing is something that has always intimidated me but I think it's because I picture drawing as having to be 100% imagination if that makes sense. Now that I'm painting I am understanding the importance for myself of learning to draw from using a reference and applying these drawing principles. Thank you !
OMG there were such great tips in this video! I loved that you reminded me of how to get textures! How could I have forgotten my childhood tracings and texture rubbings! I'll try it soon! BTW you are fantastic and I subscribed!
Thank you so much for these amazing tips Michele! I'm just starting to draw again from leaving school....a few years ago.... I've found your videos wonderful to watch with each technique x Thank you so much for the information/inspiration x :)
Thank you so much for these videos and tips...you've taught me more about art and techniques in one video than my high school art teachers ever did! Now I can enjoy art without stressing about how I'm going to get the look I'm going for!
Hi Michele, I have used the embossing technique for about 20 years and use a dart with the tip dulled as this is much more substantial than an embossing tool and can provide finer detail. For the technique to work the best for fur or hair the pattern needs to be tangled and densely packed otherwise if the texture is too loose the effect does not work as well. If you have trouble seeing the grooves then you can use a small light on an angle as this will cast a light into them. I find a blunt pencil works best over the top working as if you were drawing the fur or hair in as this is much more effective than just shading over the top. To create shadows a blending stump can be used to brush tone down into the grooves in some areas with a kneadable eraser with a point rolled on the end of it used to create highlights. I have found the papers that work the best for this are St Cuthbert's Saunders Waterford 300g Hot Press as well as Arches Aquarelle 300 or 356g Hot Press as they are both relatively tough papers and accept the embossing well. This is a great technique and it can also be used to create lots of other effects. Hope this is also of use.
Considering your other video that I just watched was seriously the best video I've ever seen on learning to draw, I will have to save up so I can take your online course. (never thought I'd spend that much for an online course, lol) Hopefully it will be a christmas present for both of us 🥰 You are such a great teacher Michele, what you say seems to click and make a whole lot of sense to me, so yes I would love to "thank you" in some way 🥰🧡🥰
Hi Michele, Just stopped by to hear your lovely voice today and get some cool drawing tips. Love the embossing tool idea. Opens up new ideas in my crafting. BTW love your nail polish!!!

Like your information but, I’m not a drawing faces type, liked cartoons but, like flowers, trees still life etc. thanks.
You are just a wealth of information, and a national treasure all around the globe
Bless you Allie, thank you!

To handle them, see them being used,to feel the tool in the hand,it thrills the mind.
Thanks for letting me know the center line works in about everything!!
The tips were all good but I liked how you figured the proportions of a landscape and also of the animals faces.
you make it look so easy!
All the tips are new to me, and wow to all of them. My horse head and lips!!. Everything. Thank you. You have the gift of creating art, but also, the gift of teaching. Thank you so very much Michelle. !!!!

Thank you Michelle. I learned a few new things today but the best one for me was how to get the ratio correct from a photo to the paper. Thank you!
It's a useful tip, I was drawing for years before I knew it!
This is wonderful. So practical. Thank you for breaking each one down so simply.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Loved the embossing tool! So cool!

Super ideas and very helpful! Loved the perspective of flowers!
Thank you! Cheers!
You got a few oooohhh's from me. I think the flower head technique was the most immediately handy.
Like the tips some remind me of a ceramics teacher I had she also used net curtains/ nets from fruits etc as textures on clay pots as you used under paper, so many useful tips so I’ll definitely use this for reference! Thanks.

Thing that came to my mind with the first one: Crochet hook! Yes, you'd need fairly small ones, but if you're already doing fine crocheting ....
Yes perfectly possible! I don't crochet but I keep a small one for pushing out corners when dressmaking :-)
Great ideas!
Thank you! 😊
