Amazing! I must possess this! I’m a Yank who never experienced FF at the time. Despite some of them coming over the pond. The first time I ever saw them, despite being a heavy gamer from 1986 on, and purchasing game books from 1984 on…. Was at a used book store in the very late 90’s/early ‘00s. Yeah. First FF books…sheesh… But I still took time….even loving old-school and rules-lite games… to discover the brilliance in FF’s system! Indeed, my new fave rpg is a clone of the FF rpg, slightly expanded easily and not AFF: Spellzard! (Which I highly recommend and imagine you’d enjoy!) It’s odd for me to say as an American, that even though I had easy and much access to so very many games………. Now… these UK gamebooks both make me jealous and also fill me with nostalgia in a way, somehow! Heheh Fun video. Thanks for sharing! I hope you look into Spellzard! Cheers from way over here! Heh 🙂
I started looking at Spellzard, like how the cover riffs the original Weretiger bursting through the dice! I do really recommend the FF history books Jonathan Green wrote too, You Are The Hero, if you've not already picked em and are can find them stateside. Alas the booking I'm missing are a little out of my price range...
@@moatmonstergaming Oh, goodness! My wallet! Haha! I sincerely wish to, and thank you for the direction to take away from my grocery or Rum & Coke budget, but all’s well, brother! Heh Cheers, from ‘cross the pond after all! 🙂
Actually I didn’t know until recently the OG ones went up to 20 and now beyond. Lone Wolf was my favourite (the Gary Chalk art!) but my local bookshop had stopped doing them so figured they’d be cancelled…
Looks like I stopped both Lone Wolf and FF at about the same time in 1992 - might also be because I got heavily into Ravenloft & DarkSun around that time
A little disappointed to be honest...I would have liked a coffee table book full of the gorgeous black and white art of Russ Nicholson, John Blanche, Martin McKenna, Tont Hough etc...big full pages and double spreads...this has way too much colour for me and the black and white art is relegated to small, four pictures per page. Thanks for the review though and I'm glad you like the book.
So there’s a lot of the interior line art in there and I’m pretty sure it’s complete for the first 7 books or so - but they are small (4 on a page). What would be good is a paperback just filled with the one picture per page from all the book
Finally a review after the book's release! Thank u
@@starstriker1881 No probs! I think it’s a really great book
