  • I've been building my track yaris for 3 years and its nearly perfect. it got 2nd place in the TRD Series enthusiast class last year. but how much did all these parts cost? In this video I go through all the mods on the car, the ones ive taken off, and the regular costs of going to the track.

    I added the costs of my 350z in my head really quick, probably north of 12k in mods at this point. It can hurt to think about, but then you drive it, and your build puts a smile on your face

    I have a 2012 Yaris. Been my daily for 5 plus years now. Just got in the first major accident where I ran over debris from a semi truck accident that wasn’t cleaned up. Luckily the car just needs a fuel line to get it back up and going. Most reliable car Iv ever owned. Over 200k miles on just oil changes, serpentine belt or two and tires.
    What would be a good waste of money for my car without risking damaging anything?
    I’d love to give the car a little lift but finding anyone to do the spacers is nearly impossible in my area.
    Love your Yaris content!

    I paid 800 for my 2007 2 door Yaris. Been adding creature comfort features tho, fixed A/C. Added power windows, remote start, power locks. All super cheap. Great little car.

    The Honda Fits I've seen recently have been pricey for used cars. The Mazda2 is another good cheaper option.
    Have you encountered any Chevy Sparks on the tracks?

    Hey @RassoolRacing. Did you have to roll the fenders for the 15x8 Hexaforms+25! offset wheels? Got rub? I love these wheels, but I daily the car. I love your videos!

    • @RassoolRacing
      @RassoolRacing  Год назад

      Tough to say. By the time I put mine on, I was already running coilovers, an aggressive alignment, and I'd pulled out the fender liners. I will say that even with that, it'll touch frame at full lock.

    Love the build! im realy interested in that ecu tune, how does it behave? no problems with drivability or anything? do you think they would tune for a stock motor, stock intake but just a muffler delete?

    • @RassoolRacing
      @RassoolRacing  2 года назад +1

      Their tune should work. The biggest gain is the rev limit raise. Tough to tell if the tune affects drivability, because my drivability was already screwed up from the 1ZZ throttle body, and I don't exactly daily my car

  • @stevenhinkle6957
    @stevenhinkle6957 Месяц назад

    Every mod except the coilovers could be done for a fraction of this cost if you shop around.

    • @RassoolRacing
      @RassoolRacing  Месяц назад

      Anything skill related? You are 100% correct. I didn't have any experience with modifying cars so quite a few times I had to get someone to do something for me, or I did it the way I knew would work. But for shopping around the aftermarket, not so much. the aftermarket for the Yaris isn't very big. There are very few options for exhaust, pulleys, tunes, intakes, etc. things like Wheels, tires and brakes, I also got some of the cheapest options for the quality.
      Definitely could be done cheaper, but mostly by only doing things that actually benefit
      There are certain things that aren't worth changing, but that knowledge also requires a bit of experience which I only have now.

      @@RassoolRacing That's very interesting to me because you sound so well versed in how you explain what's going on with your Yaris. I would've assumed that you were already accustomed to turning wrenches.
      But yes, I was referring to acquired mechanical / modding skills. I grew up as a poor gearhead from the mid-west and I've found some good ( slightly ghetto ) ways to make a car faster on track throughout the years. I certainly could not attain the level of Rad that your Yaris definitely has but I could probably make one that would tie with it's track time for around 3k. Mainly for coil-overs because there isn't a way to go cheap with that.
      I'm a big fan of Toyota's 1NZ drivetrain platform. I currently own a Toyota Echo ( mk1 Yaris in Europe ) that is weight reduced to around 1800 lbs and I can say that the 1NZ feels like it's creeping up into actual sports car territory in a chassis that light. I've closely estimated it's 0-60 time at around 7 seconds flat. Everything on the engine is bone stock except a K&N drop in filter. It gets 40 MPG flooring it everywhere, lol. Love that thing. I plan on driving it for the next 20 - 30 years.
      But anywho, I also wanted to let you know, there are some aftermarket parts to be had from Europe. It's because in America the Echo / Yaris is not considered a sporty car but it's Europe, it is. So there's a tiny but existent 1NZ Echo / Yaris aftermarket parts market.

      @@stevenhinkle6957 I'm definitely learning as I go but I didn't really start turning wrenches until 2019. A lot of the cost on the Yaris includes my trial and error. The first set of coilovers I got were definitely wrong, same with the first set of tires and brake pads. There's a lot of upgraded on the Yaris that doesn't need to be, and part of that was me Just learning how to work on any car.
      It's definitely not the most efficient Yaris build.

    Are ultra racing brace bars are worth the money?

    • @RassoolRacing
      @RassoolRacing  2 года назад +1

      Not of me. They'll add too much weight for the stiffness they provide. Maybe for a fully loaded car.

    why spend money on a hotel? I slept in my Yaris many times, recommended: 8/10. service wasn't the best, but I didn't have limits on the check-in and check-out and breakfast wasn't included sadly

    • @RassoolRacing
      @RassoolRacing  2 года назад +1

      ...well mine has fixed back seats, no interior, and no windows so not exactly car camp friendly. Plus a bad night's sleep before driving all day as fast as you possibly can is just gonna leave time on the table.

    California legal aswell? I saw a video where you raced on Laguna Seca, leading me to believe u are based in Cali. If you do live in Cali, how did you get the ecu tune legal? 2021 laws state you cannot do any ecu tune.

      Since the Yaris is stored in a smog exempt county, so registration is pretty easy. However right now it's non-op since I tow it to track.
