@julioocampo9755 yeah when you overfill your tank, the fuel vapors will create pressure. If there is too much pressure then gas will escape with the vapors out of the filler neck and spill onto the ground.

Hello Auto repairs, i am using the same Lexus RX300, 1999 model engine 1MZFE. the accident was made by swap/connecting the Vacuum Surge Tank pipe to the water outlet there just below it. The system was filled with water until the water comes out at The Charcoal Canister through the Air Drain Horse. We have tried to remove the water by sucking and blowing through the pipes and even put the new service kit since we found some plugs socked in water. but still the car wont start but cranks. what advice can you give sir
Did you figure out this problem? Please let me know. I changed out my leaking gas lines on a 2004 Grand Am, and now there's a small liquid gas leak in a big hose that connects the Charcoal Canister to the Canister VENT Valve Solenoid. This seems to be kind of like your problem. Thanks!
On top of the gas tank is a cap. On the cap you'll see a 1- 2 inch round rubber hose, the hose is attached to the gas tank cap on the left side of cap, on the cap is a connector the hose is attached to; that connector cracks and causes fuel to leak into the hose, that contaminates inside of the evap canister Contact mechanic and have mechanic inspect the connector
***New battery *** So here’s an update I had check engine light with limp mode. The dealership couldn’t find any codes. I have trouble often on putting fuel in the tank. So I took the canister out check the purge valve with 12 V to be sure it was actuating blew out the canister with air, open the purge valve and blew it out and got some dust out of it, clean the gas tank, pressure sensor with sensor cleaner. Sprayed the purge valve with some WD-40 blew out all the hoses that I could find a blowout put it all back together and we’re still getting an engine light. I remember someone online mentioning low voltage could cause sensor problems. I checked my battery after it sat all night and it had 12.2 V which I thought was a little on the low side so I got a new battery. I discharged power from all the computer boards by touching both battery terminals together after disconnecting them and I drove about 15 miles today with no light. We’ll see what happens. Thanks for the info.
Maybe buy a trickle charger to keep your battery charged. My truck has a parasitic draw that I cannot find so I used one (trickle charger) for a long time. Recently I added a disconnect switch which keeps the battery from discharging.
For just a little 4 cyl. Daily driver car, shits over 100$ just for the canister. Screw that. I've seen a video where the guy used a air compressor in the vent line that leads to the canister, popped the hose in between the canister and the vent line that leads up to where you put your gas cap on, blew out both ends and he could refill again without replacing the whole unit
Have you tried warming the canister a bit, (100 to 115 F) and pulling several inches of vacuum for a couple of hours? If the vehicle set unused for months, the charcoal may have become saturated with heavier than normal vapor that is not quickly released by the charcoal.
Sure if the machanic is bad, he changes everything without knowing what is bad. parts cannon approach. OK if you plan on keeping car another 100,000 miles and want to be safe.

My sentra 2006 is doing just that , gas vapor inside the cab, poor milage and the check engine just came on,also, an uneven, rough idle. Could it be the valve alone or the whole canister??

Have a 06 Sentra and been trying to fix code p0448 took it too few mechanics change parts code still shows
i allready change solenoid under hood , solenoid on tank , and still have check engine with p0442 , but i dont have any simptoms like in this video...should i replace canister ?
Try replacing the gas cap.
I did the scotty kilmer cigar and the hose in regards to finding a vacuum leak. Car is a 2017 nissan sentra , it has been running w weak acceleration esp up hill. Back to the possible vacuum leak , the smoke was coming out from behind headlight but straight down on the driver side , if Anybody can tell me what it is I would be very happy!!
Thx in advance
Behind the headlight is where the air actually comes in to the intake system. That should not throw a code.
I notice when i let my car get down to E when i fuel up and try to turn the car on it wont start. I have to hit the gas to get it to turn over. It turns just fine when my car has gas
Change the purge valve
I have had code P0456 & P0442. I have replaced the gas cap(OEM), purge valve (under the hood) & EGR valve. Still getting the same codes and car feel like it is rough idling about to stall at a dead stop. I have located the charcoal canister. Do you think that may be the problem? I do notice a gas smell.
Did you ever end up finding the problem? I’m having the same issue on a range rover
@@basharalgahim63 not at all. The leak seems to be coming near the fuel pump/tank. Taking to a mechanic next Tues. Hopefully he figures it out
Hello Auto repairs, i am using the same Lexus RX300, 1999 model engine 1MZFE. the accident was made by swap/connecting the Vacuum Surge Tank pipe to the water outlet there just below it. The system was filled with water until the water comes out at The Charcoal Canister through the Air Drain Horse. We have tried to remove the water by sucking and blowing through the pipes and even put the new service kit since we found some plugs socked in water. but still the car wont start but cranks. what advice can you give sir
That's a horrible mistake. Your engine probably got hydro locked and spun a bearing.
Would this cause an engine to stall?
Yep . As I’m stopping at a red light the rpm goes up and down & starts to shake . pinging noises start to hear in the back of the car & it shuts off
Very informative and helpful ... thank you
You always help me but you gotta stop putting “failed emissions test” as a symptom for everything from 02 sensors to bad batteries it’s very confusing
A lot of things can cause "failed emissions test" as they operate in conjunction with the other systems.
I have no check engine light on
Great tips, thank you.
No CEL on my car yet...but the gas pump keeps shutting off.
Great work!
Thanks , gave me peace of mind 🍻
I was hoping your channel would be the first to come up! 😂 thanks for the info! 🙌🏼
What if I put a gas pump in my gas tank and I hear air escaping?
my 99 s10 center hose from the tank is putting gas into the charcoal filter and dumping out in the street through the foam filter. Can anybody help?
Did you figure out this problem? Please let me know. I changed out my leaking gas lines on a 2004 Grand Am, and now there's a small liquid gas leak in a big hose that connects the Charcoal Canister to the Canister VENT Valve Solenoid. This seems to be kind of like your problem. Thanks!
On top of the gas tank is a cap. On the cap you'll see a 1- 2 inch round rubber hose, the hose is attached to the gas tank cap on the left side of cap, on the cap is a connector the hose is attached to; that connector cracks and causes fuel to leak into the hose, that contaminates inside of the evap canister
Contact mechanic and have mechanic inspect the connector
Ah very good information..thanks....I'll look deeper into that..😊
I get a fuel smell, but no codes, or check engine lights.
me too and rarely a little rough idle. 2022 crostrek 2.0l na only 17,755 miles. does alot of idling though
***New battery ***
So here’s an update I had check engine light with limp mode.
This helped a lot thanks!!!
finally a helpful video thx
and thank you!
My system is when i fill the gas, and it keep shutting off, my charcoal canister is probably clogged..
Good video
Thank you!
Thank you!

Forgot to say it is a 2002 Toyota sienna. Hope someone has an idea how to diagnose this problem! Thanks!
Good info
I put my nose in a granny and now I have a check engine light, should I see a doc?
Good job
I have the issue with the gas pump... super annoying
Yeah, 130$ to fill my truck with Regular gas. FJB.
2nd that!
TRAP GAS
Great video! Just don't know why there's a funny emphasis in your voice.!
I always smell a gas smell.
Same occasionally a fuel smell
@@Clean-N-ShineInDfw My vapor canister purge valve is bad. It took me 6 years to figure it out. PO456 on a Corolla is gone now
For just a little 4 cyl.
EVAP Canister issue. U Might have fueled it aboue the thresholds or full tank.
I had this problem on my '02 Toyota Sienna and paid about "400 for one
I cannot find the evaporation canister on my '23 Chevy Bolt EUV 😂
My 14 Ford fusion starts farting and it stinks.
All what you say Honest
.... thanks for video. So apparently there's no way to fix the canister, other than to replace it 🤔
From my experience, it needs to be replaced.
Have you tried warming the canister a bit, (100 to 115 F) and pulling several inches of vacuum for a couple of hours? If the vehicle set unused for months, the charcoal may have become saturated with heavier than normal vapor that is not quickly released by the charcoal.
Couldnt you just remove this and get better performance
This is costing me 900 dollars to get fixed!
Order it online and replace yourself, they're usually very easy to get to and replace
Sure if the machanic is bad, he changes everything without knowing what is bad. parts cannon approach. OK if you plan on keeping car another 100,000 miles and want to be safe.
I put 20 dollars in & it kept stopping I thought I had a full tank I was happy only to notice I was only on a half of tank🙄 now I see why
Biggest real life effect of a failed Evap is a Check engine light .
I have every single Symptom bruh
2$ for 1.4 gal? Must've been during Trump
Firstly. WTF does EVAP even mean???? And why did google even sendme to some charcoal canisters biz??????
Short of evaporate
