I applied several layers of protective varnish, enhancing the wood's color and grain. Additionally, I performed a repair on the damaged plaster adjacent to the windowsill and cleaned the surrounding area. Everything was done to ensure all dust was thoroughly removed.

Let me disagree with you. This is a pine tree, where hard fibers alternate with soft ones. If I only sand along the grain, the soft fibers will wear down faster and I won't get a uniform finish. Therefore, I sand both along and across the fibers.😉😉😉
