    Wow, Thanks Glenn, It's an Amazing video. Lots of different radios are being tested and we have had some fun. I along with everyone, appreciate your hard work on all the videos. I know the volume of videos is horrendous, so organizing the best clips into an interesting video is great. Excellent work cousin and all should watch and get a feel for the many radios out there. I do use all the old radios. Just not enough time in the day. I will venture down into CB land soon. LOL. Cheers and thanks again, Glenn.

      I thought you would like this one 😂😂
      As long as folks talk back a contact is a contact and that's all that matters.. any radio will work well with a fine tuned antenna the radio is only part of the set up.
      I have the other videos to work on now give me a day there's no rush for them.. it's the weekend lol.

The Realistic base has been recapped a few years ago and some other stuff. Its just a standard base outside of that for cb. Cheers Brother and look forward to hearing you soon. Hi Drew,
    thanks for including our QSO from last season in your Video compilation ... I have spoken to hundreds of other stations again this season, but Mother Nature just hasn't favoured us getting together... Here's hoping our antennas cross again very soon Friend ...

      Hey Dave, Its great to hear from you and hope all is well. I know the skip has been great at times but different from last years. We will thank Cousin Glenn for the video and choice of clips. We had a great contact for sure and have the proof. LOL. I enjoyed watching the older radios on CB and soon will venture down to 38 and around there. I am glad to hear you have been grabbing the contacts when the skip is running. As you know we have been keeping busy also. LOL. Great talking to you and cheers friend. Drew

We managed to get Drew without difficulty last season, and managed a really good copy to yourself and Al on the Groundwave ... As Drew says, conditions on the Skip are quite different this season, and its just not happening!!

    So nice hearing you guys chat and using Q Code QSL. Here in my neck of the woods, CBers tend to stick to the 10 Codes.

    • @cbradioghosttalk1986
      @cbradioghosttalk1986  9 месяцев назад +3

      Hello friend and thanks for saying so. We try to hang on the Q codes and use them most times for the contacts that use them. Into Europe and areas it helps get the contacts that usually would go by. Phonetic spelling is another we do a lot of for contacts. The friends we know by voice befoe they get the CQ DX finished is always fun. and get the contact and use our First Personal. I think the gang wants to always use the Q Code as much as possible. Its SSB and most of us have done this for years and why change something that works. Great to hear from you and thanks again for the comment. Cheers Drew NY202 USA

    Hi Glen do you use the kl703? I’m thinking about purchasing 1 and wondered if it performs as per specs? Thanks 73s 176 Chris

    • @DeltaXray444
      @DeltaXray444 9 месяцев назад +3

      Hi Chris, I have two Rm703's but I use them as an exciter to drive larger linears.. so I use radio power to feed the 703's then that feeds either a Donkey Stomper 48 pill or a Alpin Mark 3 with the upgraded 1300 watt Russian tetrode.. but I very rarely if at all use them.. I normally run a Rm Italy 505V which is more than enough.. many times though I usually run radio power..
      But as per your question when I have run the 703 feeding it a 25 watt input it will give you easily 400 to 450 watts output on SSB depending on where you are on the 11 meter band and also taking swr into account.. it is also recommended to keep your jumpers at equal lengths as this keeps down the impedance match and keeps your station running good, many people stress about high swr on transmit not realising odd length jumpers can cause issues with a mismatch I use either six foot or nine foot jumpers of equal length depending which linear and antenna I use and use the appropriate jumpers that give me a lower swr and impedance match.. also that is with a 13.8volt input from a 60amp supply.. a 50amp supply will overheat and the PSU fans will kick in almost instantly as a 50amp supply is not enough.. it will run it but will not be enough to drive it to it's potential.
      Running it all day with that input and output and the swr deviating between 1.2 and 1.5 the 703 barely gets warm on SSB..
      It will get warmer on FM like all linears do obviously because it's a fixed carrier but I never use FM im solely about USB and LSB..
      I have before run the 703 with a 15volt input and put 35 watts into it and you will get the full 500 watts and a little more but nobody on any signal meter near or far will ever see the difference between 400 and 500 watts so it's much better to run the linear conservatively with the 25 watt input and 13.8volts this way it will never overdrive it and will last you for years..
      The 703's are good linears I've used them both mobile and at home and find them very reliable and they always work well, Rm Italy have a great product with the 505v and 703 even hams speak very highly of them and also they give a good clean signal.. but as always never try to overdrive them it's pointless..
      Hope this reply isn't overkill I like to give my personal opinion especially when im asked with equipment I have used for years with no issues.. hope this is helpful with you making a choice I do recommend them they work very well.

      I run a High Drive RM 503 and its a good solid amp. works great doesnt get hot or any of that. Even driving it on a low power radio 4 watts am or 12 ssb as long as you have audio it will kick out 130 watts on am and Max out at 8-9 watts am in and 35-40 ish on pep ssb. Needs about 35 amps to run well. 13.8 imput volts

Finances to just get second or third beyond radio ,yes I have had numbers of radios including a stint with 6 channel Johnson white face then some am 23 channel but as they each died or were abandoned something would always step up like the 1st ssb as 40 channels opened a browning baron then a president Washington base not a uniden soon a ft101e old at the early 80s but always just one working at a time

      @@user-ef3nu1eh7z
      I respectfully have to disagree.. HF sets sound awful and pale in comparison to 11 meter sets on 11 meters the audio on them transmits at 5khz wide and because of that the audio gets lost when the skip is low no matter what microphone folks care to use.. 11 meter sets transmit at around 2.5khz and the audio is much sharper/clearer and can be heard for longer over long distance even with a flat incoming signal.. this is impossible on my Ftdx10 and it's second joint first on Sherwood's list of having the best receiver on any HF set in the world yet my Stryker and many of my eleven meter sets outperform the ftDx10 on incoming signals hands down I have proven this time and time again.. this is one reason i very seldom use my Yasue FtDx10 on 11 meters because its terrible with weak signals and outgoing audio.
      HF sets work supreme and sound good when making telephone calls on the closed bands which is where they work best and belong. most of the filters and many other tools on a HF set do not work on a widebanded HF set either because it's not meant to cover eleven meters.. it's just adding something there the HF sets can do.. so the amps and contour and all other functions do not work for eleven meters..
      You can never argue with anyone who pays thousands of dollars for a HF set and explain to them they aren't very good on eleven meters simply because they will always try to justify the amount of money they have spent.. listen to those using HF sets on Drew's videos and tell me they sound anywhere near as good as an eleven meter export rig, choose any he has over 500 videos with many videos using berenger or heil microphones and many more overpriced microphones.. Watch Mr Heils video on RUclips even he states they are studio mics and do not perform well on HF radios and they all sound drawly too wide on the audio and muffled for the most part..
      I have on air many times openly challenged any of my eleven meter rigs up against ANY HF radio but nobody wants to take me up on that challenge.. there are reasons for that..

But its a stock CB otherwise. Nice Base station and its a talker and recieves very well. I like it and would put the xtras in as its easy to work on. But no real need to as the other radios got that part covered. I will say this that Galaxy Melaka is a far better sounding radio and has all the channels on 11 meters etc. But again that radio is older and a lot different. Cheers Chris.
