I'm just considering changing my vehicle. Currently I drive a freelander which has quite a spacious interior. Therefore the CB I currently have in there is not at all intrusive (NATO 2000/mk1Lincoln) the vehicle that I am looking at is not necessarily small but is more let's say executive style and as such I don't think my current CB's will be as asthecutively pleasing plus location would be an issue as I don't want to be drilling into the panels or console. This little thing however will sit absolutely perfect in one of the little cubby slots near the driver's door. So yet again Fred. You did good bringing this to our attention. Yes I have had in the past a crt one but completely forgot about it. Just one last point there is a mic mod to fit a power mic but it does mean cutting the cable. I will be going this mod to use my Kpo NM531 which is also modded with buttons for up/down ch change. 👍👍
Hi. Yes i suppose you could mod the mic cable and fit a 6 pin socket. Just have to careful though as normally with up and down buttons one wire will be powered.
I've had mine for about 6 months or more and I think it's a solid little rig. I would like the squelch and rf gain to have dials but what can you do? Thanks for the video and 73s from the colonies.
Hi. Good, concise video review, but, a couple of things if I may. 1) With reviews like this, I always think it would be really useful to get an audio recording of THIS radio/mic as received at one or more of the receiving locations. That way, WE could also judge the audio as received by them. All too often someone will give a good report for fear of upsetting the sender etc. 2) It would also be useful to know what antenna you are using, and what the VSWR was. I mean, an 8mile contact is not exactly marvellous is it? Regards Mark in the UK
Hi Mark. Yes fair points. Thanks for the tips. Collaboration is really good and i have used two way videos before. Hello Fred. Please do a video ss9900 on how to call out on channel 555 & and how to conduct oneself. I've just bought my first ssb 9900. Yep it's me again 😅.
Hi Fred in the Shed, I enjoyed the video but I think the £50 pricing is misleading. After watching the video I followed the link you have provided to purchase the radio. The current price of the radio today (19 July 2023) is: Radio £52, shipping £8, Estimated Taxes £12 giving a total cost of £72. Hard to believe that this radio has increased in price by over 40% (once you add on the shipping and taxes) since you first published this video. I'm sure your intent was never to mislead your subscribers over the cost of the radio, which I appreciate you have no control of. Thanks again for another enjoyable video.
@@CB-RADIO-UK Yes I'm in the UK, after filling in my address it calculated £8 shipping and taxes £12 which I assumed was import duty. I'll try again and see if I still get the same result. Thanks for taking the time to reply to my comment.
Hi. Funny you mentioned it as i was talking to one of the guys who runs the net around here. Waiting for confirm that they will be going ahead and i will make a video promoting it.

I just bought one from Amazon, here in the USA (Nevada), for $41.99 on Prime Day. Does anyone here know if the ones with an FCC ID (2ARTJ-CB27) can be modded for extra channels and more power? I'll be opening it up to look for the relevant bridgeable solder pads, as soon as I can round up a set of special screwdrivers (my good set is at my folks place in Florida). I am a Ham, so although this mod would make it no longer legal to transmit on the CB band here, it SHOULD still be legal to transmit on Ham bands.
Could you please recomend an aerial to use with this as a home based unit. Are there any other accessories that would improve the performance. Thanks. I really enjoyed the helpful video. I am going to buy one of these.
