- A breakdown of the events involving Jukebox from Power Book 3 Raising Kanan Season 3 Episode 10 and where her story arc could be heading into Raising Kanan Season 4. A character who's been mostly conflicted due to trauma, pain and suffering, she turned to Sargent Healy to join the military, but also had a chance to fulfil her dream by becoming a singer. However, after Raising Kanan Season 3's Season finale, it seems like Butta is no more and Jukebox may decide to join the army. So in this breakdown I run through Jukebox's story arc and where her character could be going in Raising Kanan Season 4.

Humor me this. I think Tanner is an Italian and he is talking about his own Italian family when he speaks to Juke about getting away from her family. Can we talk about how he got that intel that Sal was a marked man? I honestly believe there is something he’s hiding. Check out all his scenes. Hes dirty in some way. I’ve been doing my own research and I think that will become a thing in Season 4. Something aint right.

I think Juke will have no choice no matter what than to go to the Army because that's a binding contract that's ironclad. She will no doubt be pushed to the limit there and will come out different. My son was in the Army and it changed him for the good and bad. Juke is by far the best character on the show and I appreciate how they have gone slow with her character development.

That's when I went in the military. It was not iron clad. Legally, until you graduate Basic, you are not even really 100% obligated. But MEPS is where you sign the majority of the paperwork.
I don’t like thinking about this but one possibility among the things that may have flipped the final switch in Juke is something happening to her while in the army or even during basic training. The most painful and disturbing scenario to guess is that she’s assaulted because of her identity and because of the fact that women were still pretty new to combat duty in the early nineties. Also, this was around the time of the Persian Gulf war, if I recall correctly. So she could have suffered some form of trauma as a result of being in combat. Either scenario is heartbreaking but would make the most sense in explaining how she transformed from someone we root for and want to see happy into the cold and vicious character we came to know.

Kanan could let Marvin know that Jukebox has joined the military because of the family sins.
The reason behind who she became was her trying to follow her dreams and the fact of her family life style stopping her from actually reaching her goal in life and full potential
Jukebox deserve real happiness she just doing the right thing by staying out the way and staying away from her family bullshit.
Yes she deserves real happiness plus she deserves respect & acceptance from people in the army because military is very inclusive in the 90s decade! 😉
I think we’ll not gonna see Jukebox in the 1st half of season 4 we’ll see more of Kanan’s development in the streets and come across Breeze
Season 4 is about to become extremely weak on me personally!
Somewhere down the line Marvin will find out Raq set him up to go to jail years ago. She will probably try it again because of what Howard kept saying over and over that Marvin has to take fall. That will destroy the bond that Raq and Jukebox have. OG Power Jukebox never mentioned her father, Lou Lou or Raq. So something has to break her. She still kept in touch with Kanan because he knew she was in DC
Not only is she going to lose Marvin one way or the other (death and/or prison) back in the 90s, I'm sure in the military she had to experience a lot of hate (homophobic people) especially being a woman serving. I honestly think whatever happens to her dad will be the straw that breaks the camel's back!!

Raq did tell Jukebox that having a cop in her back pocket is cool and it's ironic that she changed her name to Ganner after Tanner messed up her music career.
Wonder when/if we'll see that on Raising Kanan though. Depends on how far they take the timeline and story for Juke

The writers are trying their hardest to all make Raising Kanan make sense. lol. It’s already one flaw when they have Ghost born in 1974, when Angela was looking him up. The writers shouldn’t kill the whole family off but do some writing tricks to continue to cash in on the power universe
Agreed!!! When they created the OG Power, I don’t think they had all these spin offs in mind. So now all those little random OG power things have to make sense. I would love for Lou Lou to get out of the game and move away in RK. But then rejoin the Book 2 storyline as an old head to Riq.

Ghost being born in 1974 was before they casted Naturi naughton to play Tasha because she was originally supposed to be the same age as him but because naturi was so young they changed everybody’s ages but raising kanan has plenty of plot holes the biggest is kanans age because he told Tariq he started selling at 11 but as we see in raising kanan he started at 15
They never said the family was dead in OG Power. They said Kanans living family was unknown
Power Book 2 had to change Monet,Lorenzo,Zeke and Mecca's ages too😅😅 on the Power Wiki site I saw them change their birthdays in Season to match the Zeke/Monet storyline
Its interesting how we can become so different in time..part experience and partly by choice..Juke and Kannan will display this well
I wouldn’t say that kanan and jukebox’s relationship was cold in the original power I’d just say that characters were cold but it obvious that they really cared for each other because kanan called jukebox when ghost set him on and jukebox never let anybody stay at her house but she let him stay and she wanted to help get revenge on ghost I think it all comes down to the fact that he just loved Tariq more which is something that’s been consistent in power because Brayden chose Tariq over his family, Monet loves Tariq more than her own kids, Effie chose Tariq over Yale and cane, Lauren chose Tariq over Malcolm, Diana chose Tariq over salim and at times her own family

I'm sticking to my theory a while back in S2 that something serious happens to her while in the army. Most likely someone finds out her sexuality and she's most likely SA'd. Don't ask don't tell wasn't a thing then and she wasn't able to get justice for it. 🤷🏾♀️

At first it will be cool ..until she tells him Raq was a C.I. ....he would then not only argue it can't be true..he will go to same bar where Snaps and Pops stay and possibly start drinking and relapse on drugs

Getting Anika Rose to narrate for Jukebox would be dope as fuck! That’s a great call!! I was actually thinking this back in season 1 cause they had so many scenes where she was just standing and watching quietly. Would’ve been perfect but doing that while she’s in the army is just as brilliant
Personally I feel we're only beginning to scratch the surface of Raising Kanan and both Kanan and Jukebox character development are we're heading into season 4!! This can easily go on for another 5/6 seasons. I really hope the directors, writers, 50 and anyone linked to it just takes their time with it!! But I don't want to wait a year for each new season neither. 😂
People wanting time jumps means the show always pretending to follow a case is just pointless
With the time jump thing I feel it just makes sense from season 3 to 4 because we get to see Juke come back from the military then learning what she'd been through, see an even bigger change etc...

I think Jukebox through Adina seeing Burke's notes finds out Raq was a C.I. ....however her and Marvin argue over it right before she goes to Army but Marvin gets killed by Snaps or Raq while she is serving

A couple things that stay on my mind regarding Jukebox
1) in OG Power she had a line about how Tasha couldn't outsing her on her best day or something similar. How far back does she know Tasha? This, in my eyes, doesn't seem like a throwaway line.
2) Officer Ray-Ray, Raq saying it's good to have a cop on your side could be how that comes about. I could see Raq and co. luring a young Officer Raymond to the dark side and having an inside man.
I'd love to see how Juke Box would deal with someone like Snoop from The Wire.

I feel like as long as cane and jenard are alive in ghost and force then Marvin will be alive because in all of the spin offs are executed differently but still follow the same formula and you wanna know who survives or not all you have to do is look at the other shows and see if the characters counterparts are alive or not and cane and jenard are Marvin’s and they’re still alive

I think Raq is going to kill Marvin in an enraged argument in front of jukebox. I think Marvin is going to find out that it was Raq who set him up to go to jail so she could take over, but I also see jukebox finding out before Marvin and understanding and agreeing with Raq and believing she did the right thing which triggers Marvin especially since he and jukebox have been getting closer and closer but the betrayal Marvin would feel between both Raq and Jukebox might set him back to that enraged act first think later Marvin and Raq ending up having to kill him in front of jukebox maybe because Marvin attacks one or both of them and it ends with him being shot and killed i can see that especially after the way you see future jukebox speak to Kanan about his son sean being a pawn you sacrifice for the greater good I can see her turning that cold after not just witnessing that happen between two people she loved but also choosing a side between those two

Raising kanan doesn’t really do a good job as far as being consistent to the original power is concerned but going into season 4 they have an opportunity to do so because in the original power it was said that kanan called jukebox when he caught his first body and in the recent season finale he caught his first body In Ronnie so in the season 4 premiere he could give her that call and she could decide not to the military because she could feel like kanan still needs her similar to how ghost didn’t go to choate because he couldn’t leave Tommy because even in power she never stop seeing kanan as that scared little boy which most likely why she took over the plot to get revenge on ghost

I think a 6 months- a year time jump can help juke turn cold storyline. Jukebox going to the military and then come home (or progress it through out the season) after being prisoner of war. It can help turn her cold too and in a way it could cut down on her screen time if u were to progress it through out the season by doing cut scenes of her being a prisoner.
That makes me cry, these bad military men needs to be in prison themselves because Laverne & her identity from the LGBTQ community in the military, doesn't deserve it. So shame on these toxic leaders! I'm sorry to say that, but that's very hurtful! 😭
& BTW, that just as worst as the tubi movie called Cinnamon when HK played Jodi Jackson. & I for one don't like it at all! 😭
All I know is, if Juke isn’t in the next season I won’t watching. She’s hands down the best actor on the show. Everyone else is struggling with those fake New York accents.
It crazy but for us O.G Power fans, but I can't remember where I saw it but it was said that they are not going to necessarily going to follow the O.G power storyline and they would basically be rewriting the story.

Makes sense to me. And I'm cool with it. I see the whole script bring flipped from Ghost as the good guy and Kanan as the bad guy to the other way around. I think Raising Kanan will show Kanan wasn't really the bad guy. It was Ghost who was the bad guy who only looked out for himself and sacrificed anybody in his way. The Kanan in OG Power was just getting his revenge. And Jukebox was trying to help him get it.

Yeah one could make that augment, but like James said to Kanan in his hallucination, "If I wasn't raised by you I would be doing this anyway. I would have gone to busses school, I took the long way round but I'm here, I made it." Kanan knew it was easy for him to mold a young Tommy and James into the perfect foot soldiers. And he did, the one thing Kanan couldn't imagine is James having other plans about getting out of the life. Tommy and Kanan loved the streets, the grit and the dirt. Not James Ghost used it to help James escape that life, because he knew he would never have a life if he stayed. He tried to get Kanan out of that life but he didn't want it, he countless times to get Tommy out but he didn’t want. So it comes a time when you have to stop trying to help people that don't want your help and the the one person you can control, and that's self.
