Every time I hear this poem I shed tears because I can relate so much. Being "That girl" hurts to no return. The feelings of hating the one that makes you "that girl" can be heavy on your heart, but you seem to always forgive them.

This is the first poem I heard by Alysia when I was 27, that was 10 years ago now. I remember the events described in this poem. I am also a poet. I learned a life lesson from this poem and I kept it with me. Thank you for these beautiful account of some events which can play out between young woman and young men.
Watching her poem "This Women" and then watching the Brave New Voices video and then this video... Is pretty fucking powerful. Like Damn she really grew and is now glowing.

I'm doing it in reverse. I heard she made a sequel so I had to come here and listen to this one first before I could check out This Woman.
