      Until you buy one and realize it won't charge the battery, the suspension was assembled incorrectly at the factory, and the engine seals are leaking oil at 2k miles.
      Do yourself a favor, and don't fall for this shit.

    Well done Kate. I think you might have found my next bike for me. My current bike has loads of torque, and I am used to short shifting and using high gears. I reckon this might suit me well. (Older rider who still loves long distance touring).
    I like that you find joy in ragging a smaller engined bike. I have long held that getting a bigger bike doesn't necessarily mean more fun!

    It's good to se more small displacement bikes simply for fun. That's what I look for. Everyone has their own idea of fun. Mine is enjoying a bike for relaxing rides with the potential for an exciting romp. That is why I bought the 2023 ZX4RR. I'm always looking for an inexpensive bike I can make into a cafe.

    Got to say that's a good looking bike, just the right mix of classic style and modern equipment. Sadly its to small for me as I'm on the other end of the size scale to Kate. I don't think Triumph will have much trouble shifting these, it's a sales teams dream, it'll sell itself. 👍

    That's a better review, I watched Bry from The Classic Motorcycle Channel's review which was totally off. She went expecting an old-fashioned classic and was disappointed, whereas you went expecting a Triumph, a fun bike and that's what you got. I'm not in the market to buy one but this looks like a great bike to recommend to friends.

    • @thepodbaydoorshal
      @thepodbaydoorshal 6 месяцев назад +9

      There was absolutely nothing wrong with Bry’s review - just her opinion at the end of the day. No need to put her down just to prop up Kate.

    • @romeldias
      @romeldias 6 месяцев назад +4

      @@thepodbaydoorshal and her point was completely different...she did not rag the bike because it wasnt retro - she just said it wasnt her style and perhaps Triumph could have gone down the retro mode rather than the current design...doesnt mean the bike is not up to scratch!

    • @bruceleong9534
      @bruceleong9534 6 месяцев назад +4

      I watched Bry’s review and thought it was a totally valid opinion. I don’t recall her saying it was a bad bike just that she prefers a more classic style. To say her review “was totally off” is a bit harsh and based on your opinion only, not fact.

    • @UsernameKate
      @UsernameKate  6 месяцев назад +5

      I watched Brys after this and didn't think there was anything wrong with it either! I loved riding with her that day and respect everyone's opinion because we all come from different backgrounds, experiences, different licences, have ridden different types of bikes which all help us to formulate our own opinions. In fact, I very much enjoyed watching Brys video :)

    The name alone on the tank, suggests it will do well, I too, reckon it'll be a success, but if your review is anything to go by, then that success will explode..., so anybody wanting one, and brave enough to get his order in NOW, might just get one in time for this coming years summer, before the first batch is sold out. I've been waiting for this review for quite some time, and hope the Scrambler review follows up soon. there have already been several reviews out there in the big open digital world, but I chose to wait for one of my subbed channels first... welcome Kate.
    Fantastic area down that way, I had Vanencia on my radar back then when the world closed-up shop, and never got round to it again. You've just given me itchy boots... hast la vista Valencia! Review spot on ! I found it jerky in 1st and 2nd gear at slow speeds as well! But as you say , 3rd better for town riding! I like it better than the scrambler ! It’s a great town commuter bike and capable of short motorway blasts, easy keeping up with traffic 70-80 and still a bit more if needed but very buzzing over 70 being a single! I was getting 67 mpg ! Very light smart little bike 👍

  • @col8981
    @col8981 5 месяцев назад +1

    I got one of these this month and she is 100% correct about the throttle it tends to surge and hunt al low throttle settings especially under light load which makes it awkward to trickle along in slow traffic without plenty of clutch work , probably a consequence of ride by wire, fuel injection and EURO5, however it's super agile and light and begs to have its neck wrung. Some further thoughts the gearing is a bit low on the speed that's why it pulls well in the higher gears, first gear is bit too short to be useful probably a larger front sprocket would help

    I've had nothing but issues with my speed 400 since I bought it in the UK three weeks ago. The engine cut out at 65mph in 6th gear, then numerous times in 2nd. Now it's currently in my garage unable to start with a load of warning lights on the dash and unable to detect a gear, I've requested to return it for a full refund. Apparently Triumph are aware of these electrical faults and there are a lot of issues being reported on owners forums but very little discussed on any youtube reviews.

    • @UsernameKate
      @UsernameKate  2 месяца назад +2

      Firstly, that absolutely sucks and I hope Triumph and the dealer will do the right thing by looking after you. This was the global launch and I can say 100% with my hand on my heart, I witnessed none of these bikes cutting out. So that sucks that it's happening. I think it is a risk that people run when they buy a first gen bike, heck my dad's just done it with an R1300GS. The forums or owners reviews on RUclipss are 100% the ones to look at when you're considering owner ship because we only manage to put a day's worth of miles on these brand new bikes.

      It's got counter balancer shaft so it is absolutely not a vibey as you would think. We didn't do extended motorway speeds but of what we did do, vibrations weren't evident so I wasn't even thinking about them. The engine isn't typically thumpy like older singles, but still characterful imo 😊

That won't arrive til later this year but I believe that will have a fairly low seat as well. Already ridden RE 350 classic which I loved but just a bit too slow for longer trips. Or will I just keep the wee CBR250R I've had for the last year, bought that as a stop gap after a 650 V-Strom, to be fair it's just enough to scratch the itch and proved up to an A & B road trip round northern France last summer...

    I wonder how this compares with the 390duke. I bought one back in 2017 and had it 6 years. That bike has 45bhp.

    Hi Kate, how would you compare this bikes handling to the Ducati Urban Motard i saw you ride a couple of years ago? Do you think you are strong enough to pick it up? I realize that the Ducati has a larger engine and is more powerful. My guess is that the Triumph is more a beginners bike, what are your thoughts?
