I just fitted linkglide to my GT Everb, best money I ever spent. So much smoother shifting, absolutely like a different bike. As well as cassette had to change derailleur, shifter levers and chain.
This new Shimano Linkglide drivetrain is solid! We already have customer with over 1000 miles and it’s still shifting smoothly with very little chain wear. Can’t wait to see this on more eMTBs
Is it possible to replace an 8-speed Hyperglide cassette with the 10-speed Linkglide? I assume the new cassette would just have to be the same width as my current cassette and I'd have to upgrade to the Deore derailleur and shifters which are currently Acera. Thanks for any advice.
I have installed the 10 speed Deore Linkglide on my affordable e-bike. So far so good. I also like the gear indicator that is on the Deore shifter, and I have no need of more gear range. 11-43 tooth is plenty for my e-bike, even in steep climbs. In Norway, the complete setup is like half the price of the Deore XT Linkglide.
Yes you can. Which Trek Rail do you own? If it’s fitted with a 10-52t cassette, then you’ll need to replace the wheel’s freehub body to a Hyperglide freehub. Then you can attach a Linkglide cassette to your rear wheel. With this new cassette, you will need the accompanying derailleur, chain and shifter.
But you got no „Link Glide“! 🤷🏽♂️ If you would have a link glide deore XT, then you would have a 10 or 11 speed, because this are the only two linkglide systems! 🙈
If anyone knows the linkglide derailleur with work with hyperglide cassette. Don't want to stuck with a shifter and derailleur useless if Shimano discontinues with the system and stop selling the linkglide cassette.
It should, but that defeats the purpose of the system. The cassette is the main part as it protects against wear and has improved ramps for better shifting.
I think you'd have to repace the Hyperglide cassette with a Linkglide cassette, and if that's the case how do you know which Linkglide is compatible? I have a Hyperglide 8-speed cassette, is there a Linkglide cassette that is the same width? I assume I'd also have replace the derailleur and shifters.
@@wpjmurray Yes, you’ll have to replace your drivetrain. Shimano is going to make 9-, 10- & 11-speed cassettes with Linkglide tech. Shimano is discontinuing Alivio, Acera, Altus, 10- and 11-speed Deore
When components companies claim that it will last say "300"% longer I don't believe it. A cassette already lasts 3 chains stretched to .50 That takes about 2 years riding almost every day. What they're claiming is that cassette will last 9 chains/ 6 years 😑 I just don't believe it, but maybe on a E-bike it may last 2 years
I converted my bike to electric and I'm on my third cassette in less than a year, so this new one would only last me a year. I guess if anything it would reduce how often I have to do this repair.
I currently have 17,650 kms on my Shimano E8000 drivetrain full-suspension e-mtb. I've gone through numerous chains..... however..... only 4 cassettes (11 speed 10-46) with 2 still operable. I think the key here is 2 complete wheel sets changing off intermittently. Works for me!
Hector always coming with the latest and greatest. Much appreciated!

I like it. Thx for the breakdown
How about the chainring?
Is the linkglide chain stronger than hyperglide chains (eg HG701, HG601, ...)?
Yes I need one
What's the difference between the lg600 and lg700 cassettes? Besides ones being all black
ON THE TURBO CREO COMP CARBON, WHAT ARE THE PARTS OF THE GRX DRIVETRAIN THAT WILL WEAR OUT THAT YOU KNOW OF?
Like with any bike, it’s the chain and brake pads that wear out first.
If my Trek Rail now has 12 speed Deore can i go to this and what must i replace.

I always run into that one guy that tells me he eats a chain every month. Makes me want a recording of what they're doing to it lol
@@LastAphelion changing gears under load probably
The price is illegally high. I refuse to believe that people actually buy these things for a bike. That's half the price of a used a 600cc supersport
Still technology from the 1800’s. Get with the enclosed pinion gearbox and belt drive movement.
Cringe
Can’t install the current gearboxes with mid-drive motors. But who knows, maybe someone’s working on that already.
quadruple facepalm...!!
Oh great! So the majority with 12 speed systems are left out! Der!
