Thank you so much for the music, sharing your time together. I appreciate your candid feelings about the loss of your brother William. I too have lost my son Jesse the same way. Watching you and your father on the shore touched my heart. I found some peace and understanding about love. I heard the voice of my Jesse yelling “mom I’m sorry “! Thank thank thank you, love Janna

It seems rude to have watched this and not to comment, though I don't know quite how to express myself. Perhaps I can tell you that from the moment you arrived on that beach I found I was here with my hands clasped, my fingers interlaced and held to my lips, while hot tears of joy silently rolled down my cheeks.I stayed that way for the rest of the film. I'm just so, so glad for you both, well, for you all, that it was so very beautiful and magical and full of grace.
Your conversation too (the 'interview'), was so nourishing to hear, though I felt more that I was sharing in it than hearing it. It brought me a tremendous upwelling of joy and excitement for you too. I resonate so strongly with so much of what you spoke of, particularly a conspicuous absence of the usual attitudes about death, and the way you both spoke of the power of love - you are singing my tune fellas!
And I know exactly what you mean about Richie Havens Hans - in fact, strangely, it was just a few days ago that I told someone I felt like I needed to see him. Watching you two here has given me that Richie feeling, but with a unique Hebridean flavour. I love you both, and thank you so much. Thank you xxxx

I agree completely with Glenda Martini comment, this documentary is so touching and intimate and filmed in a clever and sensitive way, the superposition of images is very effective, it blends dream and reality, action and pause, reflection, creativity, depth of feeling, appreciation of life and above all, love .

Above the clouds 18:35 with Lewisian Gneiss (Eyes) was breathtaking. The love & joy for life between the both of you is heartwarming. Drugs are evil things. I lost my brother to them also. I am so sorry but I'm glad William is one with the vast ocean of life. Sadly on Hans' Birthday...that is heartbreaking. The red bird is so cute & all of it still makes me smile...Thanks

Hans, I never met you but I did know your dad (in more recent years around 2014 on) from the Orpington Folk and Blues sessions. I’m not ashamed to say this vid brought tears to my eyes for all sorts of different reasons. The beautifully presented personal / family story, the beautiful music, the beautiful man that is your Dad and the common association with the beautiful “healing” sea. It healed me personally through a tough health year last year down here where I live in a quite remote part of Cornwall (Gorran Haven) which has musical and scenic similarities to your home place.
I miss your dad’s calming and soothing person as well as his love and delivery of his music…..he is a truly lovely man. Thank you for posting. Pete T

Hi Kathy from Tennessee. Love is stronger than death. Absolutely 💯 percent! Lost my husband last Jan. Love will Absolutely go that extra 1000 miles, when you didn't think you could take one more step. It'is God's hand in the middle of our backs, that pushs us on in the middle of life's storms. Love you guys. Your harmony and singing your beautiful songs gives me great comfort.

This movie will be valuable one day . As for me, it is more of a film about an unusual and at the same time very ordinary family. It made me nostalgic for what I had and didn't have.We got along with my father
perfectly only in the last three weeks of his life, when he was dying of brain cancer. It happened that he made it taboo of having a grandson whose name he said before he died. Today I understand him better. Worser I do the same sometimes, but still it's 40 years to late, our family no longer exist and dissapear after 400 years. Indeed, the Greeks gag like people from the Middle East when they are to say:'' I love , I miss'', and when you wander around different countries for 100 years because you cannot return home, simply could not create such great family as was possible to see on this film.A family that love each other after all. Since a long time I didn't watch something more real, honest. I can't find words, but have many feelings after watching it. I wish everyone such a great family like on this movie. I suscribed it from my father chanel created after his death. They said that home is safty. I and father we had it in various countries, but not in the one written in the documents. In the end, I decided to give up this paper and ended fight for return to our real home which began grand father. My father and I almost made it, unfortunately after 100 years he only saw home just on the pictures. Now that's the only reason of my exist back to home.

I spent last week in Stornoway and other places in the Outer Hebrides and the atmosphere was amazing ... nice people, no rush and also beautiful weather .. We were lucky ... I returned home yesterday, but my heart remains Stornoway .. I hope that I'll have another chance to come back - "I love the wind here; I love everything here, the wind, the rain and the sun" ... and finally: my favorite song by Ado is "The Harbour" (it wakes me up like an alarm clock every morning). I really want to be at a live concert. I love you both.

What a wonderful record of your wonderful Dad you've got Hans. You're both immensely gifted artists. These special moments are so precious. I remember my Dad recording his Dad on cassette and listening to his life story. I was so precious. And now, i am witnessing in my life, my mum battling her health. It breaks my heart and shatters my soul to see my best friend and my idol in pain and suffering. I cherish everything I've ever experienced with her, still.

I've just finisched to watch it. I'm speechless. It's a gift for us and a really exciting tribute to your father. Everything is perfect: words, music, landscapes, emotions, silences, feelings. You are a very talented actor and musician, but you could be also a perfect director/documentary maker. Thank you very much for sharing this with us. All the best to you and your special father. Until next time :)

So much emotion. Thank you for sharing this. I love listening to your father sing. And to see him perform live through your documentary, is so very special. I hope to one day visit the Outer Hebrides. Through you and the film Half Light, I discovered your dad’s music, and I’m so grateful for that. I’ve just recently shared his music with a friend from Gloucester, Massachusetts, who shares my love of the sea and Celtic music. She was wondering how she never stumbled upon your father’s music before!

I recently visited the Outer Hebrides, I returned a week ago. It was my first holiday abroad and I saved for it for two years. Ado Matheson's songs were behind the idea of visiting the Outer Hebrides. It's a beautiful part of the world and I have it in my heart forever. Great people, hard life. This experience was worth all the money.

Thank you for sharing this. The music was what drew me to your brother. I always felt honoured being invited back and loved the impromptu acoustic performances. Setting sun by Oasis was the first song I heard William play. I was hooked. This was a really beautiful documentary and my heart whilst broken is a little more warmed by the love I can see around your family. It’s infectious. Wishing you all the best. Much love. Thank you for this lovely video, I really appreciate your kind and vibrant energies. How true the words in that song, "there's no need to run away from love" My one true love of my life passed away November 2020. But I am forever grateful that I had that love in my life together for 30 years and YES: the crucifixion of Jesus did teach me that it does not end with the physical. I feel the love all the time, it's only as if he's just in the other room, just out of my eyesight, or off on one of his travels and any day I'll see him walking towards me with his beaming smile, but I feel his presence and his love all the time. It's exciting to hear you both speaking about your son/brother and how you still feel his presence, even closer. I understand why there are no simple words to describe it, but it is eternally true, our loved ones are still very much with us. ❤️ God bless your journeys and your beautiful family and thank you both again for sharing your beautiful music and your time with us.
