- This is the interview I did for my monthly section in RECOVERY TODAY MAGAZINE called "Scummy Unplugged". Every month in this magazine I interview some amazing people that have got there lives back from winning their war of addiction. This FREE online magazine is hands down amazing and can be downloaded to your phone or computer from your app store. This is the one thing that I am actually excited for every month when the new issue drops and am lucky enough to be working with them and even have my own section. The magazine is all Sobriety based with some amazing interviews, articles, tips, and much more. Remember that this is just a teaser to what this magazine has to offer and I would recommend downloading it and reading the full article that goes with this video interview,
His story is his story and nobody can take that away from him. If he repeats his story doesn’t matter he repeats to remember the bottom and it keeps him clean. Bless you Novak from one addicted to another keep going!
Hey I'm glad to see two of my youth heroes sober now.. I did heroin for years also. Finally sober after 15 yrs of trying and od'ing..
Kuttin Kuddy congrats ♥️ keep it up !!
Respect. I feel ya brother. Hope sobriety is goin strong still.
I love that he repeats it. Cuz it’s WHAT CLICKED FOR HIM. And it’s what clicks for me
God bless u Brandon the odds of us being alive and breathing are slim to none god bless u on ur journey to recovery its a blessing to be sober I ran for 14 years of doin heroin and i can say today im clean 24 months for the first time in 14 years i thank the lord above every morning
Never understood the problem that he repeats his story thats the point most people like this repeat their stories for different audiences its a shame people still hate on him this is the healthiest hes been in a very long time
He needs to keep repeating himself is so he nails it home every time he says it...if he puts his sobriety on the backburner for even a minute then his disease will start to fester ,it comes before everything and he knows it.n.a can be tedious and repetitive but that's why it works...it instills in him that if he doesent keep his sobriety as his top priority he will not stay clean. He seems like a loveable rogue type individual, and he reminds me of me in so many ways.would love to meet him someday to talk boring n.a shit all the "so called normal people" cannot get their heads around....fair play Brandon, keep up the good work🤮🤢🤠🤡
Yeah I know like his story is supposed to change?? No shit it’s the same it’s his story
Only Its not his story he bullshits alot look into some of his claims. He never designed a pro board he never was a millionaire 3 times over he had one camio in Jackass 3 and some cut scenes in the other two far from being a star of Jackass never toured with Tony hawk only Mike valley he's still a professional "dreamseller" but he is doing good so I guess that's good
I read Brandon’s book in rehab a few months ago. I’m from Baltimore as well. Sober life is wonderful.
Brandon fuck the haters bro.
Your story touched me and I’ve heard hundreds and I have only been moved by one other friend’s story besides yours. I love you brother and I am so thankful that you are happy in recovery!
I get emotional when I hear this guy tell his story. Powerful Shit. If he can get it right, I know I sure as Hell can too.
Dont spend any time on youtube watching more than just this one video. Guy legit has a script and he doesnt deviate from it any time he does these
@@derekfobert is his story supposed to change? Plus, any guest is on a time limit. He only has so much time to get out what he feels is most effective to get out to people.
Some people have a problem with his method of speaking. But here's the thing, how many people who speak on their experiences are as deeply honest about where his experiences has taken them. I've not found many to be THIS honest about the despair. I found that refreshing. Everyone has their story, and his is powerful.
If you watch one sobriety vid of Novak you've seen them all he repeats the story / lines over & over
Good on him though
Good message
yeah, he's big on the catch phrases and rhetoric- a bit too much like a salesman... really wish him the best,
but sounds like he's still trying to convince everyone, including himself.
God forbid people that are paid to talk dont freestyle everything and find what's super effective and use it again
jay tee that's very true
Totally agree. "My bottom came up to meet me". Every single interview is identical. Makes me wonder if his motive is true. Perhaps he's just latched onto what just sounds good: classic for an addict yet he is. Understandable. More than likely, he has found a way to find financial benefit by his addictions and interviews. As a 2 year clean heroin user myself I think he truly wants to help others.
Just because he repeats himself doesn’t mean he’s full of shit. I know a lot of a addicts that speak in rhetoric, it’s fucking exhausting to an extent
I’m so proud of him!!! He was ALWAYS my fave!!!
Glad i was the 50th person to like this video, taking it 1 day at a time, thabk you for my sobriety brandon
Heroin, opiates are the devil. No one who hasn't been there will ever understand. I'm from Baltimore and I moved to PA 6 years ago because I knew I was gonna die. I'm still now on Suboxone, and some people will judge about that, but it saved my life. Is saving my life. I wish everyone who's gone and going through this all the prayers and luck in the world. We've lost too many. Including my own girlfriend January 2017.
Great video Fellas! It's not as easy as it seems to live a clean/sober life....I want to quit but im not ready, only to make another excuse....it's time to grow up.
At least you are honest with yourself man. You will do something about it when youve had enough. Just stay alive til then brother.
I love Novak I know his story is great but I would love to hear some new words come out of his mouth at some point
He’s got it rehearsed because he works in recovery. He tells it to help people. I’d love to hear some new shit to but he tells it this way because of how deep it is
You can’t change your life story.. he’s simply repeating his life story over and over again for multiple different platforms. Nothings going to change because you can’t rewrite history. The hope is that it reaches new ears every time it’s a powerful story
Both these guys interest me and I am also a recovering heroin addict so I understand a lot of what they talk about. Good interview.
Wow... Amazing story and I can’t imagine going through that. Right on you both found a way out and live a sober life now. Anyone dealing with addiction should watch this. ✌🏼
If anyone has ever listened to great story tellers you understand the essence of repetition. Its for different audiences and theres also little details you can catch each time that wasnt in the other ones. I could listen to brandon tell his story a million times over. Also when you go into programs theres so much routine and repetition and organization and protocol so unless you understand the kind of traits and characteristics you develop as you recover you will never get it. No reason to hate on the guy at all. Hes genuine and honest. Also people say he gets 15% off the people he helps get into programs. Thats his job. FYI, EVERY worker in every drug program is there getting PAID. That doesnt mean they dont intend to do their job which is help others heal from their addiction. People have to make a living. No one does their job for free. Stop trying to paint this villain picture. Let go of your hate within yourself and learn to accept and understand others.
If he really is clean I'm from bmore I know a lot of people that know Novak on a personal level I've met him more than once I hope he is clean and doing great
Addiction is not a disease. IMO It's a matter of taking responsibility for your own life, facing your real inner problems and discipline. Calling it a disease is just an excuse. I struggle too with addiction, but it's these things, sad but true.
They can be all of those things. Taking responsibility and action are all steps to recovery from the disease of addiction. Also my opinion.
Actually not my opinion, but truth I have gathered through factual research. I wish you the best with your troubles, labels aside, it's tough and shitty. But there's always a solution.
It is a disease u can die from that just like u can from cancer, HIV, ETC........
@@brettcoyle2399 Idiot
Great episode but it cut off at the end. Did I miss something? ☺
didn't miss shit
Every novak interview he says exactly the same. also keeps bragging about being in movies that broke boxoffice records, im sorry novak you had a cameo at best in the jackass movie.
Tyler Durden most people who speak like this in different areas tend to say the same things thats the point you say the same message to different audience's
Because that was his his life story
He's doing motivational talks. And he's a guy that only got his GED because the prison offered a Domino's pizza party for participants. He's not Mark Twain, man.
Motivational talks are the same speech over and over, whenever somebody signs you up, typically with a set amount of "mic time." It's the best he can do. His life story is his life story. For anybody that is his "audience:" you should only need to hear what he says once. Otherwise you're either somebody who is an addict and not ready for help, or a fucking CKY/Jackass fan that shouldn't even be commenting anyway.
The same thing is said about that guy that survived trying to commit suicide on the Golden Gate Bridge (EDIT: Kevin Hines). He says the same shit every time too. Doesn't mean he wasn't so broken that he felt he needed to end his life. And he's still alive, doing the same speech over and over again. So there, that's all I gotta say.
Yeah he mentions it MANY times each interview. MANY times. Been in movies that broke the box office, toured with Tony Hawk, is the author of a new york top 10 seller.. etc. If you heard it from one junkie you have heard it from them all.
hater
Do guys w tattoos on their hands begin talking with their hands to show off their tattoos or did they get tattoos in order to show off their hands ..... (?)
He hits keys points that resonate and sticks with those basics
I'm nothing but happy for Brandon because he definitely had a death wish but his story is the same word for word it just seems so scripted so rehearsed the sleeping with the skateboard the pro skater the TV star the top 10 selling author how did I get here. god bless him I wish both of them nothing but success but but its so annoying I can't watch it
I'm happy for him too & he's helping other people do the same. I think I understand what you mean by that rehearsed-thing. I think it's just because Brandon does a lot of interviews & shares his story all over the country. He's gotten used to it.
Samu Puuronen I have no hate for Brandon I think he's done so many speaking events he's unknowingly started telling his story in this rehearsed way nevertheless an amazing story and his dedication to getting sober is nothing short of amazing cause I know the struggle all to well
Bryan Jones well that’s really how it happened, what do you want him to do? Make up another story? He’s trying to spread the same message on multiple platforms because not everyone watches them all.
Anglo Laflare exactly, like a band replays the same show in different states!!! I LOVE IT...I’ll listen over and over and over!❤️
That is his story. Would you prefer him add and change it up to make it more interesting. Your life is what it was. You can't change the past. When I listen to Dave Ramsey tell his story, it is the same story every time. He has been telling his story for over 20 years. So it is the same story, imagine that. I am kind of making fun but seriously, do you want him to make up stuff? If he gives interview after interview and speaks in front of audience after audience he has to tell the story. I understand.
Kinda like a gradual induction of program mentality subconsciously knowing you need something to click
Awesome episode, what happened to the end tho?
These guys truly have alot in common
Where is the rest!!!
It’s his life story.. that’s why it doesn’t change people! Jesus Christ! you can’t rewrite history. Hopefully each times it’s repeated it reaches someone new. That’s the point of all these interviews
Trust me people will still try to do that
This is great thank you for posting!
Stay sober y’all doin good I wish I could stop
Glory be to God 🙌 🙏🙌 🙏
People shitting on him cause he repeats himself? What do you expect him to tell from a completly different life? Its what he experienced, its not that he experienced a different life for every interview.
Read his book, it’s helped me so much
Lol I read it too and its pipe dreams for a junky. No offense I'm in the boat too, 12 years of sticking myself... I want to WANT TO BE SOBER but no matter what i cant seem to "want it" enough (if that makes sense). Sucks pretty bad, and my veins are all collapsed so I'm diggiing around in my body causing god knows what damage... But ya anyways his book was entertainment but Novak said himself he was high on coke and drunkthe whole time
@Brian huh
No doubt in my mind he is still using
Wish the video didn’t end short
Skateboard riding lol. Good show.
The problem is he is basically speaking from a script. .. You can tell your story in different ways by having a normal conversation, not like you're reading lines from a script.
His story constantly changes but he always uses the same lines like I don't work unless it's 10 bucks or a glass of wine
Etc
Novak is a robot
Where's the rest of the vid! Good stuff
"it was my job to be fucked up!" Typical junky logic. Been there, know it.
What happened to the ending?
What the hell it got cut off
If you’re really sober help you’re buddy bam he’s a mess
Martin Addison everybody’s tried to help him. At some point it’s totally out of your control. The addict has to be 100% committed to being sober for THEMSELVES. Not for their family, for their children, or for their friends, but for themselves. Otherwise the cycle just repeats itself until death is inevitable.
@@DanGeezyPresents true and he’s doing better now nailing skating boarding tricks
What's up with the cliffhanger ending??
Nice hand gestures, yo.
Yo Yo Yo Yo Yo. shut the fuck up with the Yo shit. Fucking 2 year old.
dr32803 you obviously missed the sarcasm in my text. It's people who utilize such hand gestures that typically use words like, 'yo'.
Louis Cypher did i say something about his hand gestures?! I thing you responded to the wrong guy
dr32803 No you didn't. I did. The whole reason I posted my initial comment to which you responded to mocking my use of the word, 'yo', was to make fun of the guy in the video with the hand gestures. Because people who use such gestures always say, 'yo, yo, yo...'. I think you took my first comment at face value, ie it was serious in which case it was not. Either way it's cool.
@@louiscypher7090 you are both losers arguing here lmao
Every stories the same I’ve memorized what his story is I know the next day he’s going to say every time he opens his mouth so sad so sad that he thinks were so stupid that we’re going to believe that those are just the lines from his book
cosmetixjunki love He repeats it because that’s what happened. If you don’t like hearing what he has to say then quit watching his interviews.
@@nicktrecker6403 was about say the same thing. But u beat me 2 it. Kudos
I just put a bunch of fake stick on tattoos on my hands... Now im ready to talk.
Novak has a good look now
was he really "pro" for powell?? bam says no, brandon says yes......
I disagree I moved from California to Oregon and finally got clean
Changing location doesn't magically stop you from wanting it though. If it does, you never had a problem.
You probably don’t hang around the same kind of people, that changes a lot
@@handsomebarber424 no I don't I had to completely change my life or die
Thankyou
See I’m like in a ground hog day just told my mom yesterday that’s crazy
Novac should try not to sound like he's reading a script, he says the same shit every interview, damn near word for word, you can't bullshit a bullshitter, its almost like he's capitalizing on his sobriety. I guess thats just how some people are. They have different motives in all things. Hopefully he keeps his intentions in check when he's dealing with other peoples recovery.
Its novak not novac
4 homes now?
Bro say differnt lines novak !
Yeah I mean, whatever he wants to do at the end of the day, not here to judge. But he does seem so scripted. I feel like you can be a little more casual telling your life story in a chill setting like this
This was just him giving a lead, but it supposed to be a chit chat
He's fucking addicted to sobriety. It's gonna backlash
First off I'm a big fan. That being said his story is full of little white lies and some flat out lies. But idk he is doing good and he does inspire ppl so does it really matter...?
He repeats himself way too much each interview. The other guy is talking friend to friend and Brandon goes on the script.
He may not be a good speaker. It may be what he needs to do at this point in this journey, to make it through this process. I would rather have him do this I guess until he becomes a better speaker.
That is his story. Would you prefer him add and change it up to make it more interesting. Your life is what it was. You can't change the past. When I listen to Dave Ramsey tell his story, it is the same story every time. He has been telling his story for over 20 years. So it is the same story, imagine that. What does it mean to buy a playa?
buy a plot, a grave.
Steven Kokidko a plot means a grave
Watch all of Novaks interviews. He repeats the same shit Verbatim. Yeah, he had hardships and did f-d up things. What junky (myself included) hasn't?!
Is his story supposed to change everytime?

Word up🌝😀🌈
Spell Novak's name right!!
Novak*
Treatment s these days are like spas. First one.. well second one (1st was in 05, lockdown state place. Before things changed... At least it was co-ed.. went in with a wife n kids.. came out with an ex and 2gfs :/ ) in 2016 had chef's cooking our lunch and dinners, chiropractors, etc... All billed to my PPO insurance for $60k with 6k outta pocket
I went to treatment in 2017 in Arizona my insurance payed for 33 days 200,000 dollars they were like million dollar houses and shit co ed I took it serious but was alooot of fun
I been both booshie and state funded
The same exact script over and over!! Lol.
So what!? An addict needs to tell their story or make recovery their new addiction. Inspirational non the less.
Same fucking story told in the same way every time sounds like a robot
It's like he's repeated this script in his head over and over and over.
*And that "Gatorade" story was outted by bam as bullshit
Cuz bam is a reliable source
Brandon ditch the clichés- starts to feel ungenuine. Your story is strong enough without the scripted shit. 🙏
Watched a few of his vids. Same old. He's a drama queen.
I respect what novaks doing but he says the same fuckin speech in every interview, switch it up a bit
Booooring
