This was actually much better than I was expecting. The art direction is truly stunning, and extremely faithful to the videogames. The voice acting was surprisingly fun, and I love how unclear Rayman’s “accent” is, complementing his bouncy appearance and carefree attitude. An experimental and fun performance by the legend Billy West. The story was nice and is a perfect start of the series, just a shame it had barely any opportunity to develop due to the short number of episodes.
Honestly after watching the first episode, I really like the concept for this show. The animation/visuals are dated yeah but I think it adds to the charm. Rayman is especially great, he's a smartass while still caring for those around him, it's perfect in my opinion. Sad there's only 4 episodes of this series, I would love a reboot in the near future with this same concept.
This animation was top notch for the time, still looks pretty good today imo.
After Rayman's crew escaped, Rigatoni fired his animal trainer. The trainer, angry with humiliation, would go on to build his own lackies and ships, until he had his own fleet. Traveling from world to world, he would leave a trail of death and destruction in his wake. Soon, the galaxy would tremble at the mere mention of the Robo-Pirates and their leader...Admiral Razorbeard!!
This is Ubisoft’s first attempt at a show for Rayman, but now they did show with the Rabbids and it was a success. Ubisoft will make more stuff under their animation studio just like Activision Blizzard.
In my opinion, they should try to make modern cartoon based on Rayman, He deserves a second chance.

Episode 2 will be upscaled if the first episode performs well and gets a decent amount of views.This is very time and power consuming so I gotta justify doing it. Hope you all understand.

Having seen Billy West’s previous work, I feel like he was badly coached for this. Especially the accent. But I do like that they made Rayman a smartass.

I think Billy West was the perfect voice actor for Rayman, based on the other characters he voiced Rayman has the same characteristics as Stimpy and Fry
I grew up with this, this gives me so much nostalgia
I only watched almost three minutes of the episode and I already adore Flips
Love how they got Billy West to voice Rayman...the way Rayman sounds here sounds like Fry from Futurama with a Bronx accent.
Rayman Theory: Razor Beard was Tired of being bossed around and ran away. then- a few years later - Rayman met Globox- and now Razor beard has made his own army and Collected some slaves... Which leads to rayman 2 : The great escape.
I mean that is a possible theory to what might have happened had the show not been cancelled but then again the manual for Rayman 2 says that Razorbeard and the pirates came from outer space and Razorbeard had reduced over 100 planets to cosmic dust meaning that the pirates are not from the planet Rayman lives on. I don't know if the series is supposed be be an actual prequel to the game of R2 or it's own separate continuity to the games and was gonna lead on to it's own adaption of R2 with changes to the plot.
This show is actually funny and entertaining, wish it didn’t get canceled.
I makes me think... I would have loved to see a cartoon with the Legends cast. More adventures with Rayman, Globox, Teensy and Barbara, sadly I think Rayman' s days are over though..

I would like to see this reimagined as a full on game like at 11:38, it feels like the end of a cut scene, where you transition in to game play and have to find 4 parts to fix the car
A lot of the animation seems to have been very specifically inspired by Rayman 2 which released very close to this, even some of the character animations are ripped right from it so, this is actually kind of correct, lol

even when i was a kid it was kind of strange to see him in this show. I assumed this was a prequel to Rayman 2 the game, but now as an adult i realized this was not the case
I'm actually wondering what exactly was going on behind development of this cartoon. This was aired 2 months after Rayman 2's original release but did they develop it while Rayman 2 was still in development of being changed from 2D to 3D and before they settled with making Razorbeard the villain of Rayman 2? I mean how long would it exactly take to plan and make 4 episodes? Was this planned to air before Rayman 2's release but decided to delay it and air it if Rayman 2 was a success not bothering taking into account that it's barely anything like Rayman 2? Ubisoft did make this series right?
@@robonaught im wonder that as well, because im assuming their using the same 3D models for both characters. I feel it was the games transaction to 3D that influenced the show. Its quite the mystery.
From what i dug up it looks like these episodes were made in house by Ubisoft. If anything i think this is the same course they did for the later rayman games with their small trailers.
@@pyrolee17 Interestingly in the opening cinematics for Rayman M and Arena Razorbeard's model is very similar to the model used in the show. Even to the extent if you look very closely at him you can see he's actually got the same moving visible jaw under his beard.
No seriously just do a side by side comparison of the two.
I actually do like the concept of Razorbeard having a visible moving jaw. Just make him behave like his game counterpart and we're good to go.

I do hope one day Razorbeard returns one day. Thats why im kind of sad that it dident get its full 26 episode run, as i feel show would have razorbeard in a increasing role leading to the events of Rayman 2.

Many, many years after I once saw this as a wee one on Teletoon and still all I hear from Rayman is Stimpy but he’s now Australian. Also, I swear Rayman: The Animated Series should have gotten more episodes. I know there was more planned but it’s still terrible how a project like this suddenly hits the brakes.

Tbh I wouldn't mind if Ubisoft, after getting bored of Rabbids; brought back rayman with a remaster of the first 3 games + a tv series to celebrate. All leading up to a new Rayman game that isn't rayman 4 but has the same spirit of it, to test the waters after the remasters. If it does well Rayman 4 can come out.
A Rayman TV Series today now has the oportunity of characters from Rayman 3 and Rabbids, so they aren't limited to just 2 games. All it takes is for the team to stop making just Rabbid games and focus on the character that started it all.

To me the most obvious tell is the way Rayman is animated himself, most of which is practically ripped right from the Great Escape. Otherwise yea, this could’ve been any studio.
