I remember a few years ago I bought the 50w head at my local Long & McQuade when they had a used one sitting at $699 CAD. Still got it, still love it! Insane how few people know the value of these heads.
Thanks @@bvanhoosen! I thought so too, I didn't even plug in as I'd played one back in the mid 00s. Felt like a bank robber getting back to the parking lot :)
I got my Combo for 700 at one of my local Musicgorounds, traded in some amps I didn’t really get along with anymore. It came with the anniversary Greenbacks, so it sounds incredible. The post 2003 JCM2000 heads are also super underrated, they sound great and you can get them below $1000 all day
I'm a fan of the Vintage Modern and wish they'd bring it back but IMO the last great Marshall still exists in the JVM. There's a reason it's been around so long.
@@mrt7476 Why not? How does bringing them back affect buying them used if that's what someone wants? Maybe worry less about what others want and focus on your own wants.
Each time I am reminded of this amplifier, I kick myself in the behind. I had a chance at a head with a matching cabinet, for a very fair price, but I thought it was overkill. considering, I already have a terrific Marshall. Unfortunately, for me, the appreciation of these amplifiers has only grown.
I believe it! It’s such a cool sounding amp. The cabinets are surprisingly hard to find these days too! Hopefully one day you’ll come across one at a good price!
A very good amp that was depreciated when it was released because a lot of people didn't know how to tune it and they thought it was a two-channel amp and that a lot of guitarists like to encroach on the bass guitar register. With this amp you are right at home in a band mix. Used by Jeff Beck, Gilbert, Aldritch, Slash, Opeth..
Love the granite finish Stealth!!! Sick. I have the Ash body Stealth in red( raised wood grain) Way underated guitars!!!! Great Marshall demo. Well done again
I have the Special Edition Purple Tolex 100w Head and it's truly a great sounding amp. Paul Gilbert used one for a while. RUclips audio doesn't capture how raw and throaty this amp sounds. It's a Marshall with a different flavor from the KT88s I think that's why it didn't get the hype it should have. There's a world outside EL34 and 6L6 tubes and this is a great introduction to it.
Thanks for doing this video. I have the exact same amp and I've always struggled with Metal through it because of the looser low end. I assume a lot of the tightness is due to the Aggressive Screamer? Are there any other pedals you'd recommend for heavier thrashy stuff?
Very, very nice. Not sure about the rhythm tone that sounds a tad scratchy on my end, but the solo tone is fantastic: creamy and haunting. I love it. And as always, your playing kicks arses.
There’s definitely this upper mid/high treble thing going on and a loose low end (similar to a Plexi). I’d probably blend with a JCM800 to balance that out in a real production. But I agree, that lead tone - ooooof, it’s perfect
@@bvanhoosen awesome man, do you guys post shows on the bands in town app? Also stay warm dude, not sure if you guys have power where you’re at, we’ve been without power for almost 48 hours.

JVMs are definitely cool! I had a 50 watt one in the past, but it didn’t quite get the job done. Would love to try the 100 watt one.
You can buy a new 100 watt JVM pretty cheap these days, i think around $2,000, and the new DSL 100 for $900
Why bring it back? There’s a ton of original VM’s on the used market, and they’re cheap too. Get one of those 🤷♂️
@@bvanhoosenthe 100 watt sounds exactly the same as the 50.

Haha thanks bro! The presses are paying off
Awesome! Sounds like a JVM kinda. One thing, the PPIMV is unique to the Vintage Modern. 2203/2204 has a Pre-phase inverter MV.
Love The Vintage Modern. Wanted one for years and finally got the 100w Head this year!!
Hell yeah! Justice for the Vintage Modern! Crazy they only made them for 5 years, they rule!
Rad playing as always Bryce. I'm surprised how much I like the VM here. The overdrive with the VM is really cookin'!
Thank you! Tbh I kind of was too! I wasn’t sure I’d get it to sound quite so aggressive, but it went there! There’s a lot of tonal versatility in here
I have the full stack in purple. The b cab is impossible to find anymore.
I bet! Honestly love the purple tolex
Totally Rad Guitars!!! One of my favorite channels. Great shout out, great demo :) 🤘🏾

got a 2466 x pattern with celestion 65 creambacks with v30 full stack… favorite set up out of all mine… plexi with jcm 800 with amazing texture/tone
Those Vintage Modern's are also great for stoner metal/doom. I love those amps. You're certainly using it well \,,/

That’s awesome! Definitely has a different flavor compared to 6L6 or EL34s. I don’t think I’ve had this much fun dialing in an amp before!
Yngwie liked these amps too. He demoed these at the NAMM shows back in the day before Marshall came out with his signature amp.
