The most unique background music I've ever watch.

I replaced the electrolytes, but the receiver still worked inadequately on FM. The problem was in the D10 varicap, electrolyte from the nearest capacitor leaked under it. It must be unsoldered and thoroughly rinsed and soldered under it.

My Sony 7600GR doesn't turn on. The display just flashes '0:00' and sometimes with battery empty icon as well, when plugged in or with the batteries. I checked the continuity of the power switch which seems Ok.

Do you have list of those caps?
Then I have no need then to open and examine radio. I had this very same years and years ago. In 90's I think. Buying in close fire second hand from ebay but most likely caps in bad condition...

May I ask, why add the extra cap in the dc area?

This mod is for bypassing high frequencies. C127 is on the primary side of the DC/DC converter, after a choke that's used for blocking RF that might creep back into the supply. Unfortunately for the poor cap, there is no bypass capacitor for it that would work better at high frequencies (the converter itself works at 1.85 MHz), thus keeping most of the high-frequency voltage ripple away. Instead, C127, which has pretty high losses at that kind of frequency, has to endure all the ripple by itself, thus getting heated up and ultimately drying out prematurely.

There is nothing wrong with the design. The bad capacitors wasn't Sony's fault
