Some trivia for all: Shortly after posting this video last year, someone from spinning top records, on kevin's behalf, asked If I could take this down because he apparently freaked out and said he was embarrassed of it and didn't want the fans to see it. I said I would consider it if he asked me personally. I never got any future response. At the most recent Kevin spacey gig, he had someone approach me and ask not to film it for reasons of being a perfectionist, and wanting only the best to be seen/heard for the masses of fans. Dunno why he can't confront me personally on this matter!? He has nothing to be embarrassed about with any of these videos! Dude needs to chill.
Thanks...great to see that he is human too. He is insecure like the rest of us at times. Reminds me of what his been saying lately in interviews regarding a new album. That he dosen´t know what people want from him and expect. I think he is thinking too much, or overthinking things. He sounds bit stressed these days. Still interesting information you came with.He should realise that we all start out from somewhere. And this is not bad, far from it. Even if he come a far way from this. But don´t understand why he couldn´t approach you personally, if this was so important for him. Sounds bit Diva like, and thats not what I heard from people that met the band or been to gigs. But seens u got all this material im guessing you´re a local.
Yes, I'm a Perth local whom use to gig with Kevin. He recently had me stopped (non physically by a dude) from videoing his latest secret "kevin spacey gig", and wouldn't you know it, was for similar reasons. Got some footage of it from a mate, check all my videos. He's unhappy with them all I heard. Silly bugger needs to chill, and yes, confront me personally and not get others to do his bidding. We use to chat like normal people once, before his fame, of course.
R Moocher Yes, he needs to calm down IMO. Either way im very grateful you choose to share this. Because im as far away, as u can get from Perth lol... so thanks heaps
washedinsilver1 I just recently discovered that It was Jodie Regan (Manager of Tame Impala and the spinning top label) who contacted me about removing this video! Hahaha
I was foolish for not bringing down the old video8 camera to capture them again with better audio. But how was I to know they were to morph into one of australia's great bands!? Jamming with him was indeed a blast. Wonder what he's like now days? It's been years.
It's Kevin. It says Dee Dee Dums on the drums. In an interview, he said he used to be really into hard rock when he was younger. And the first song he ever wrote was called "Bad Mood." :p It's so funny to see how sweet and shy he is now (on stage.) It was a teen phase.
You're welcome. My only regret is not taping more gigs of them (with better sound!). My band played a few gigs with them back in 06/07. I Saw talent in kevin way back then, well before tama impala as my video prooves! Me and my drummer (I'm a bassist) even once had the pleasure of jamming with kevin live on stage as his drummer couldn't make a gig at mojo's! I got to bash a drum kit for the last couple of tracks while he pulled out those "cream" style riffs. Man, has his style changed.
amazing, never seen he singing angry like this! roooock!! very nice video!! we can see kevin is good in any style, really nice video, I liked very much!
That's great! I'd love to jam with Kevin. Tame Impala are my favourite band. It's a shame there's no more videos, but this video is great. Thanks for uploading it!
In an interview, he said that elephant was a song they (tame impala) used to play very often a couple years before lonerism. I now see that the style of elephant is more early kevin parker, hearing this. Its freaking awesome, just too bad the quality isnt great.
Ha, that's a cool way of seeing it, yeah, like some vintage lost footage. Only camera I had at the time was an old 90's style, analog, video8 tape camera. Most digital video cameras back then still used a tape format, believe it or not. Harddrives came out on'em a bit later. To put it bluntly, I just couldn't be bothered forking out several hundred for a good quality handy cam. Haha
At the time, me and others agreed there was a 'cream' influence he had going on. I guess there could be some Qotsa/kyuss influence in there. I'd say a number of bands.
Dunno hey? Dude left to join another band some months after this video was taken. He was replaced with one Sam Devenport. After that line-up, the rest is history!
Dunno about HD, but there were digital cameras available at the time. I only had an old 90's style, video8 cam at that time. To bad it wasn't filmed on a better quality hi8 cam indeed. Was just being a cheap bugger.Haha
This is amazing dude! I never thought I'd see a video of The Dee Dee Dums, so it's great to see this band in action, and see how Kevin's music has evolved. Kevin's voice sounds so different here! Do you have any more videos from The Dee Dee Dums or Tame Impala gigs? Or their other bands? Mink Mussel Creek, Pond etc? I'd love to see them if you do.
Hahahaha wow.... Its so cool to see how these guys evolved into tame impala. Good footage. Hopefully in the future, after all this electronica/pop music phase, they'll start playing these at their live shows. Probably not likely to happen. I pretty sure this is how Jay joined the band. From what I can gather, this is the setlist: 1. You haven't been telling the truth (Early half full glass) 2. Into the jungle 3. ? 4. Lonely Words 5. Swing 6. ? (Some blues stomp, it sounds real freaking heavy, woo) 7. ? (Little funk jam) 8. THE SERPENTINE
lol. "he had realised that he HAD to change his way of signing". yeah sure... he woke up way day and had an epiphany! a real lightbulb moment! nice projection. or maybe he was just a teenager, growing up, absorbing new influences and trying on things for size.
You're welcome. I believe it would have been a real piece of gold had i recorded them somewhere with a quieter P.A to actually hear them half decently. Thanks anyway.
Just what I was thinking! See Kevin is such an inspiration and to show people that you literally have to start from the bottom and keep on keep on working is such a beautiful thing
It sounds like there is a bassist but I never see him, is there one or his Kevin just using a whammy or pog or something? Or do I just hear the second guitar?
This sounds like every local gigs I've been to in the year 2006 to 2008. Nothing spectacular. Made me realize that Kevin isn't born with music genius ability to be where he is today. Either he practised and perfected it for years, or he sold his soul to the devil
So, you say that Kevin Parker has sold out, that this is how his music SHOULD sound: but, I am curious, you said you played with Kevin Parker, and were one of the bands, playing at this, if you know so much about how he should sound, why arn’t you selling millions of records right now?! You clearly don’t respect the music; or who he is, because if he asked me to take it down, I’d have no problem, because I am so grateful for even having the luxury of enjoying the sound. An mabe he’d contact you personally, like you wish, if you weren’t so disrepectful of his wishes.
I expect that everyone who has come across this video and watched it knows tame impala and two of their most standout hits, being Elephant and Half glass full of wine. Just put two and two together buddy.
This is far from utter shit! The only problem, audio quality aside, is that the drummer can't keep up with the unconstrained force that is (what looks like a 17 year old) Kevin Parker!
That's why I wish I recorded them again in another venue. The Engineer there always had that little P.A blaring. The camera's mic couldn't handle it, obviously.

Yea
You are so lucky man, this is incredible
THANK YOU FOR THIS!!!! Its crazy how his vocal style has changed. this is a piece of fucking gold
this is sweet
i was so not expecting these sounds to come from kevin
the dude playing with him is really talented also

wow, kevin has developed so much as a musician
The first song is without doubt the inspiration for Tame Impala's half glass full of wine!
Here he looks like the 80% of teenager in my town that are into music
In an interview, he said that elephant was a song they (tame impala) used to play very often a couple years before lonerism. I now see that the style of elephant is more early kevin parker, hearing this. Its freaking awesome, just too bad the quality isnt great.
yeah i heard he abruptly changed his sound
i am really glad he chose the neopsychedelic direction as it's one of my favorite genres
half full glass of wine intro.... i love itttt !!
Wow wat a rear video, thankyou soooo much!!!! How awesome.
U can see kevin's talent, he's also great on drums
Ha, that's a cool way of seeing it, yeah, like some vintage lost footage. Only camera I had at the time was an old 90's style, analog, video8 tape camera. oh my...thank you sir sonny7er25 ! :D This is GOLD!!!
This is REALLY cool! Just saw Tame Impala in Chicago in Nov.
this should be preserved in a time capsule or somethin
At the time, me and others agreed there was a 'cream' influence he had going on. I guess there could be some Qotsa/kyuss influence in there. I'd say a number of bands.
You're welcome. I was talking about Video8, an old video tape format for home cameras. Don't think people have used super8 since the early 80's!
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
I don’t think kevin would mind this now
PRICELESS
Thank you!
You rock!
people want the old tame impala BUT I WANT HIM TO TRY THIS SINGING AND GUITAR PLAYING STYLE AGAIN it sounds super cool
Same
Agreed!
Cool, australian White Stripes
It's him alright! In the early days. That's how his voice really sounds!
This piece of footage is such a gem! And he must've been 20 here or something!
Indeed! He obviously felt the need to save that riff for future use.
Dunno hey? Dude left to join another band some months after this video was taken. He was replaced with one Sam Devenport. After that line-up, the rest is history!

+Sam Croaker this music will probs never come back for tame impala, there would be no point. this music has been done a million times over haha
Yeah I guess so haha... It would be good if they played one for the fun of it though
Sam Croaker yeah definitely, i can imagine the original version of half full glass of wine being so cool to see live
me thinks Kev listened to a lot of Kyuss as a teenager
When he had realized that he had to change his way of singing? That must be an interesting revelation...
Otherwise we would never be listening this
lol. "he had realised that he HAD to change his way of signing". yeah sure... he woke up way day and had an epiphany! a real lightbulb moment! nice projection. or maybe he was just a teenager, growing up, absorbing new influences and trying on things for size.
This is what I was used to hearing from him, before he altered his vocals to sound like john lennon's and went off in the psychedelic direction.
4:10 Wow Kevin how tf you do that?
That guys band made it and now he is doing Melody Proche. Lucky Bastard. :)
The quality of this is fucked up in a good way. It's like an early Zeppelin or Beatles video even though it's only from a few years ago.
I wish i known them at this time but i was 6 so it's a little hard when all i listened to was Disney movies music or something
they were super underground at this time its not like you would have found them anyway
chulada de tocada!
and love the moshpit with the two guys at 11:17 :P
Meeeeeeeu irmão... Como o tempo voa.
Jay joined him in late 07. Probably met that year.
awesome video
Not sure. I believe it was earlier than may though. I should have dated the tape.
You're welcome. I believe it would have been a real piece of gold had i recorded them somewhere with a quieter P.A to actually hear them half decently. Thanks anyway.
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Yep, one of the two
Dunno why kevin doesnt want people to see this
Just what I was thinking! See Kevin is such an inspiration and to show people that you literally have to start from the bottom and keep on keep on working is such a beautiful thing
Don't be mad, Kevin...
What's the song at 7:39 ?
No they didn't. My band played this show as well as a couple of other acts. I have more footage of the night.
He plays the serpentine which is pretty cool and u can see the dee dee dums on the drums and shit what's Kevin wearing 😬
It sounds like there is a bassist but I never see him, is there one or his Kevin just using a whammy or pog or something? Or do I just hear the second guitar?
Probably using an octave pedal or it's just so bass heavy
He's wearing shoes.

Is that Pitch or Octave Pedal whats Kevin using on this record ?
The first song it's very similar to elephant (Tame Impala)
listen to half full glass of wine (tame impala)

He was around 19 or 20 then right?
It's clearly Elephant
Steve Irwin's son on drums
Exactly. It couldn'y possibly be kev.
Thank god he changed his singing style
holy fuck this is cool
sounds close to "Half Full Glass Of Wine"
AH OUI , TAME PAS LA !

his half full glass of wine??? yeah
AH OUI tame pas la !
is that jay in the background?
was Dom in the band at this point?
yes he and dom have always played together
Kevin Cobain
who is the drummer?
Kevin Emo Parker
AH OUI TAME PAS LA !

lol. you're just not getting it. ah well, i tried.
wow amazing sound quality! Guess it's better than no video.
drummer is pretty wack - sort of sounds like an australian white stripes.
That's why I wish I recorded them again in another venue. The Engineer there always had that little P.A blaring. The camera's mic couldn't handle it, obviously.
Yeah I can definitely hear the White Stripes influence in this.
who's on drums?
+Anugerah Ardiansyah Luke Epstein
Gian Rangga Permana
my favorite band ever
Nah bruv, this shit sounds better 'n raw. That's how kev's vocals are meant to sound, (Not like lennon's)
better? let me get some of that shit you're takin
