Even the Finns themselves don't know where the word Suomi comes from or what it means, there is no official decision on that. There are many theories. Finland is said to be the land of a thousand lakes, but the word Suomi itself refers more to the land of a thousand swamps, because 'Suo' means swamp in Finnish.

The suomaa theory is absolute nonsense with zero basis in linguistics just because two words sound similar doesnt mean theres a connection between them

Just remembering things out of memory, but "suomi" might be related to words "zeme (häme) and "sami" obviously. Might even be the same word, really. The origin, who knows.

Its common for many countries, since recorded history used to be quite bad unless you were Roman.

The period where almost half of Finland died is called "isoviha" or "great wrath" its a pretty interesting topic and a big reason why finns started to hate the russians even more, to a very extreme extent.

Yeah. It's not like Finns that time only died because they were hungry, cold and diseased during a wartime. They were also intentionally hunted down, raped, tortured, murdered and enslaved by the Russians.

Finnish tribes have inhabited areas from ancient Gelonos to southern Norway. The fortress city of Gelonos can be found today in Bilsk, Ukraine. Finnish tribes have received genocide from the Slavs who came from the west and the Mongols from the east and the Germans who came to Sweden today. This goes on for over a thousand years. Contrary to what historians say, the areas of Finnish tribes have existed for a very long time, e.g Worlds oldest fishing net from 10 000 years ago has been found in Johannes, in the area of the Karelian tribe. The writing of history is the conquerors' highlights in their favor. The truth is the people's past, it would be great if the truth started to be studied, instead of history, while this video is partly true. By the way... what comes to happy raindeer, why do you think we grow them? Pppssssst raindeer meat is delicious😋
