Just to settle any potential controversy, I swear I did not copy jokes from him. I was writing and finishing up the script just as he published his Something about Super Metroid video a few months back. It was just bad luck on my part that he used similar jokes that I did.
To be clear, I like TerminalMontage's content and that video and I hold nothing against him. It really is just bad luck that he made his before I finished mine. Oh well. He's still funnier than me.

Your Kraid joke was basically canonized in Metroid Dread! That's pretty cool, I think.
Kraid was nowhere near that big in NES metroid.
@@andrewj1754 unless you meant Zero Mission but yeah Kraid wasn't big in the original Metroid. But since Super Metroid he's gotten huge since then even as background stage in Super Smash games.
@@andrewj1754 I guess they didn't want to just use the ice beam joke twice, because if I recall both bosses are absolutely trivialized by it in the original Metroid.

I mean, fighting Kraid for the first time was intense, I always saved him for last. Ridley is a joke. But really the most difficult enemy in Metroid for the NES is copy/pasted non-linear tunnels. Beating the game legit (no map) for the first is one of my most satisfying game experiences.

I agree with you, the non-linear nature and lack of map make the game extremely difficult to navigate, especially for me as I get lost easily lol. I've never beaten metroid NES without a map so props to you for doing it. And I put Kraid first as a subtle joke: he's a nightmare to fight while Ridley, even with this big buildup and intense music, is a pushover Samus beats him easily.

@@ManinRed Wasn't Kraid about Samus's size in NES Metroid? Ridley didn't have a unique theme, either, that was introduced in Super Metroid.
Heck, Kraid wasn't even completely scaly in NEStroid - he had hair on his back!
For me, Kraid consisted of plasma beam and having enough energy to sit in the acid offstage and spam him to the grave
It could be that Ridley was easier because you have more upgrades by then if you beat him a while after Kraid.

You know what's weird about the original Metroid game, Kraid, the tiniest Kraid we've ever gotten, is probably the second hardest Kraid we've ever fought, especially with the ice beam. Even with the wave beam he rips you a new one if you're not careful. Meanwhile, Ridley is the easiest fight in the game (maybe the series) because you just have to freeze his fire and then get up close to him and blast him with missiles.

That Captain N Mother Brain bit had me dying. I do gotta say, the planet didn't explode in Metroid 1, that was Super Metroid (aka Metroid 3). In the first one, Tourian was the only place that blew up. The rest of the Zebes was fine.
Seems like the creator of this video has yet to play Metroid Zero Mission, there we see that only Tourian goes WTF BOOM
