Wow. Found you while looking at vintage synth demos and see you’re in San Diego where I spent most of my life. What a great way to look at the town I love and miss.

As a kid around this time, we used to drive from San Carlos area to Point Loma to visit my aunt and uncle who lived off Rosecrans across from the Naval Training Center. I wish there was more footage of the I-8 I remember with dairies where CostCo and Ikea are now. We used to hold our noses because the smell would permeate the car. Then count down the streets off Rosecrans to Sterne - authors names from Zola to Alcott. Thank you from this lovely trip down memory lane.

Small world-I too remember that drive from San Carlos to my Grandparent's house in Point Loma-Rosecrans to Talbot-right turn-2 or 3 blocks-their house was on the corner of Evergreen & Talbot. I-8 was complete by then-mid to late 60's-but still a fair amount of dairy farms there. The 805 bridge started construction in '67 & finished in '73. Sure doesn't look like that any more.

Just made that same drive in November, but mine extended all the way out to Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery. My grandfather was buried there (yes, buried; his rank in the Army earned him the honor that possibly no one else will have again), overlooking his home town of 84 years. Beautiful footage, thank you for sharing!

Early in the video they pass the Crown Plaza hotel. It is still there. This reminds me of the San Diego I dimly recall growing up in the 70s down there.

Well, the home it pulls into is 3034 Whittier St 92106. The earliest public record for a sale only goes back to 1991. Still, might be fun to shoot a postcard to the current owner with this link.

Agreed - looks to be more like '60 or '61... I was born in '59, and can remember what the cars looked like in '63 - and they weren't all mid-50's vehicles (the latest model I see clearly is a '58 Ford).
