As a Christian artist I can wholeheartedly appreciate Lillias' decision. A soul saved is more important than temporary fame. Art is a gift from the Great Master Artist and should not eclipse his work. Who can estimate the value of her true work of rescuing the perishing and bringing the water of life to thirsty souls who would otherwise perish for want of spiritual life. Wonderful.! 😍❤👏🙏
I'm not typically a documentary person, but I heard about this as a fan of Sleeping At Last... And let me tell you this documentary totally spoke to me and helped me shape and form ideas I had been thinking about but unable to express. Like it was reading my heart perfectly. Now years later, just thinking about her makes me want to cry a little. What a beautiful soul and a beautiful story with a beautiful message and a beautiful score...many beautiful things, indeed. I'm so very glad to live in a world where this exists.
"For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." - Luke 12:34. Lilias would have had worldly fame, fortune, social respect and esteem, but she heard the voice of God and said, "Here am I; send me!"
The work of God in a person's life who is willinging to surrender all to Him is beyond wonderful to describe and has deeply touched my heart. I love to listen to such life stories like Lilias Trotter where God is known and working in people who are hidden from the public eye that love Him and bring forth His love to others. The story of Lilias Trotter has brought me to tears many times and made me realise how God loves the most ordinary person on earth who would just simply put their faith in Him to do the impossible. The simplicity yet sometimes mysterious ways of how God deals with us as His beloved. Lord Jesus help me and everyone of us who is touched by this story to trust You with child like faith all the way to the end. Amen.
"Take the very hardest thing in your life the place of difficulty outward or inward and expect God to triumph gloriously in that spot", that spoke to my soul for the inward place of hardest difficulty for me has been an oppression within and its hard for me to ever think that God will ever triumph there. Yet there did spring a moment of joy at that thought
Thank you to Miriam Huffman Rockness for preserving her story and for the entire team, especially Austin Blasingame, Art Director, for bringing it to life so beautifully. Incredible production. An inspirational life.
In a world where I dont have a lot of people I can relate to. I am so thankful to Miriam Huffman for saving this story and bringing Lillias Trotter to many people through this documentary. I feel like I found my soul sister. A lot of her experiences resonate with me.
Lilias Trotter made a comment that made a life long change for my Great Grandmother, Helen Howarth LEMMEL. She wrote over 500 Christian Hymns, but her greatest was “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus”. My Great Grandmother happened to read about this remarkable lady, Lillian Trotter, as she wrote , in a sentence special ..words for everyone with troubles we all have in this world! This lead to my Great Grandmothers song, “Turn your eyes upon Jesus”!
I love that song so much that I had a large canvas print made of the chorus which I have hanging in my guest room. I had read on Wikipedia that she was inspired by the tract “Focus” by Ms. Trotter. Would love to find a copy of that. Maybe I haven’t searched hard enough.
That song was dropped into my heart to get me out of a dark place that I was in for years. He still drops it into my heart when needed, and I often play it myself too.
This brought tears to my eyes. A woman whom gave all of herself, to be filled with Christ. May her works go before her in God's blessing for her soul. Amen
This was a life changing film. I am deeply grateful for the hard work put into bringing this woman's testimony of faithfulness and joy into my life and the lives of many others. God bless you all!
I read her books and admired he courage to do what she did at that time and in that country, what an example of someone who heard the call and could not resist, thank you for this excellent film
I first heard of Lilias Trotter just a few days ago when listening to an old speech by Elisabeth Elliot. What an amazing woman Lilias was. Thank you for sharing this video.
Savored a book of her diaries and drawings in 2010, then read a biography. Her life and testimony touched me deeply. Now to have discovered this beautiful movie--so inspiring! (Just one GRRR! over a pop up announcement of some series that covered up the last photo at the very end.)
This Is BEYOND WORDS profound and riveting to one's heart, mind, and soul to count all things lost to gain Christ and the call to love those Abba led her too where she would know and experience the pain and beauty of His Love in the people and creation that surrounded her. Thank you Christine Beadsworth for sharing this once was lost but now found gem that I also see reflected through you in the unique and life changing Ways of Abba Father to those on the receiving end of your prophetic calling that is prolific beyond words!
Truly her life was a tapestry of beauty, God reach deep within her heart He knit together in the secret place And, touched her with his beauty of creation. With words and and hands that see creation though eyes of God . Her life speaks.
Thank so much for this. I stumbled upon it while looking for music to go along with my painting videos on instagram. Although I am not a religious woman, I wish I would have met her. I truly respect the path that she chose. Thank you, this was a very touching documentary.
She was So Very Beautiful...made me tear up more than not...I love everything about her...thank you for posting this, I'd never have known of her otherwise...she's now a forever influence on my heart and on my own creative expressions...and on my dedication to my Lord; thank you...
A beautiful gossamer of life reflected in the glory of one fragile human, being made in God"s image. Just too beautiful for words.

Thank you, thank you, thank you very much for having known Lilias Trotter's life through this film. It has deeply touched my heart and has been a great blessing for my life. God bless you 🙏
An amazing life, and an amazing documentary. Thank you for the hard work for many years and for making this possible. Great blessings to each one that took part in this. A missionary to the Nations.
What an amazing story! I had never heard of Lilias Trotter until a friend posted a quote from her on social media. In the comments, some one posted about this documentary. If we could all live our lives for Gods glory as she did.
What a great life and what a beautiful documentary. Thank you for your hard work throughout the years, and to all that made this work of art possible. It inspired my life. I am a missionary with my family. Blessings!
As a 77 year old widower I confess I wept through this beautifully presented account of a very special gifted and devoted lady I had never heard of though familiar with many missionaries names. Thankyou for this inspiring account. I had only just finished listening tto Glady Aylwards account of her lifes work when this film followed. Colin John.
Thank you to everyone involved for make this documentary. May the Lord bless u all. I was brought here by the search to know about the person who inspired the hymn "Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus".
She lived her with commitment and because of it inspires me continuously with results to give and be all that I'm able to all. I adore her commitment.❤❤❤🎉
This is such a great doc, I watched it twice. All the comments' there were many, about the annoyance of the music being too loud have been removed. This doc would be much better without the music.
Sending this request out to the lovely people who made and saw this film - I've been so moved by the life of Lilias Trotter ever since I came to this documentary through the music of Sleeping at Last. I have felt a deep longing to read and know more about her. I cannot afford to order an imported copy of the books by Miriam Rockness at the moment as they're not available in my country. If you read this message and own any of the book, would you be kind enough to share your e-copy with me? I'll be very grateful. ❤🙏 PS: I'm an artist and would love to compensate your kindness with anything you would like me to illustrate for you. 😊❤
Thank you very much for this wonderful documentary, worthy of such a great woman artist, who was able to fulfill such a beautiful vocation, as an offering for God and for the world. I cried a lot, like when I discovered the biography of William Wilberforce. This gives so much hope as the crows of disenchantment ceaselessly hum their melody... In this springtime, like Lilias, I still see such... such beautiful things... Love from Belgium
So much of Lilias life reminds me of several passages from “Hinds Feet on High Places” where the Shepard (Jesus) is talking to Much Afraid about the lessons the wildflowers have to teach us: “Nothing my Father and I have made is ever wasted,” he said quietly, “and the little wild flowers have a wonderful lesson to teach. They offer themselves so sweetly and confidently and willingly, even if it seems that there is no one to appreciate them. Just as though they sang a joyous little song to themselves, that it is so happy to love, even though one is not loved in return.” “All the fairest beauties in the human soul, its greatest victories, and its most splendid achievements are always those which no one else knows anything about, or can even dimly guess at. Every inner response of the human heart to Love and every conquest over self-love is a new flower on the tree of Love.” “Many a quiet, ordinary and hidden life, unknown to the world, is a veritable garden in which Love’s flowers and fruits have come to such perfection that it is a place of delight where the King of Love himself walks and rejoices with his friends. Some of my servants have indeed won great visible victories and are rightly loved and reverenced by other men, but always their greatest victories are like the wild flowers, those which no one knows about.”
As a Christian artist I can wholeheartedly appreciate Lillias' decision. A soul saved is more important than temporary fame. I hadn’t heard of Lilias Trotter until today, when I happened upon this beautiful film - I found it so moving and inspiring, even life changing 🙏💕🕊🌴

Not by Longfellow, it's a quote from British missionary C.T. Studd.

This is absolutely incredible! More people need to hear Lilias' incredible story and how God used her amazing life!
This is beautiful..I love the story. What a wonderful artist who had opportunity for greatness in worlds eyes but she chose a laid aside life in God.

What a neat connection.

It was looking into your Great Grandmother's song that led me to Lilias Trotter and this movie. What a legacy you have, that's incredible.
