- A Christian girl, Rachel Whitaker (Jordan Trovillion), goes off to college for her freshman year and begins to be influenced by her popular Biology professor (Harry Anderson) who teaches that evolution is the answer to the origins of life. When Rachel’s father, Stephen Whitaker (Jay Pickett), senses something changing with his daughter, he begins to examine the situation and what he discovers catches him completely off guard. Now very concerned about Rachel drifting away from her Christian faith, he tries to do something about it!

This movie is a classic, I revisit every now and then for a good laugh. The fact the professor doesn't even understand the process of evolution shows the writers didn't either lol, also the constant mentioning of abiogenesis and pretending as if evolution happened overnight. The ignorance is just astounding

50:00 the guy slept through his biology lessons. Species evolving does not occur instantly, within 1 or 3 generations. It's a process, very long process. It's like buying yourself a brand new pitch black tshirt. With time black fades away, and becomes gray. When did black stop and grey begin? What day? What time? it s all on spectrum. Just as species are. They change slowly (in our perception) but surely.
Yeah that view is pretty outdated, speciation can happen in a single generation due to hybridization. We're currently trying to access how big historically hybrid speciation was a factor in evolution and it might just revolutionize the concept of species.
I can't help but cry after watching this movie. I am a Biology teacher in a Christian school and this movie just made clear what my very purpose is in life. What a wonderful movie...

First of all, I want to thank God for leading me to this movie as I was searching for something of substance for the evening and this movie did not disappoint! It also took me back to the year I went away to University and I had a religious class that I didn't agree with but instead of voicing my opinions about the curriculum being taught, I simply got up out of my seat in anger and walked out. I understand now as a much more mature Christian that I owed my professor an apology for doing that because (I'm sure) he was just going by what the book taught. May we as believers continue to mature and grow in our faith so that we can shining examples of the ONE and ONLY true God!

God is good and faithful! He got me through 2 near death accidents, got me through physical and verbal bullying which lasted 8 years. He is still working in my life to help me through the physical and sexual abuse I am suffering now. I am 13 years old now, and He came into my life last year in November. It is amazing what God can do! The LORD's love is everlasting, never ending and ever faithful!

Ah yes, great movie showing how creationists have no idea what evolution is or what it is about. But that's their only way of defending their position, making up things about the opposing ideas. And they still did a horrible job defending themselves.
Ikr, how do you make a whole film and not ask one person what you should be making it about? The word evolution is thrown around so much yet what they talk about barely ever touches on the subject.
According to the film makers, evolution is the origins of life and the origins of the universe at the same time. Neither of which is true.

February opened with my daughter being positive then two days after my mother died due to covid then now my other daughter needs an operation while one is admitted for his therapy due to a broken spine... The expenses are just a challenge. I was unable to eat... I am praying and letting the Lord work in His ways. I am nothing but a servant. I loved this story because it is exactly what I needed to hear and see to help me to continue to believe trust and have faith in GOD. The first time I heard about GOD I immediately believe in GOD to this day which is over 55+ years ago. GOD has answered many prayers for me that I called “MY MIRACLE ANSWERED PRAYERS” because no one can make it happen but GOD🙏🙏. Since loosing my husband I did a stupid thing to this day. Just a few weeks ago, I came close to loosing my house and that was my wake up call. I pray for GOD’s forgiveness and not give up on me and please help me. I desperately want to get out of debt once and for all because I want to live with peace of mind again. I’m praying my refinancing and especially the cash out amount to come through. I want to do right again, be responsible (I am but can do better) and I don’t want to fail GOD again again and again. I know I will fail but hopefully in time I’ll be strong again with GOD by my side and make him proud of me🙏🙏🙏

You then take courage and become stronger in the Lord and more humble.

We then can encourage others who are going through tough hardaches, as we can feel with them.

God indeed does bring specific people into our lives who desperately need us.

This is a devastating "movie". The writers get almost all about evolution wrong. Either they don't understand it, or they purposfully ignored it. I guess a bit of both. If this is the line of argumentation they use in christian schools, I feel sorry for the students.

Her 13 year old girl lost faith in God and we talked a while and I actually brought it to the restaurant, we have a church meeting there, to give to someone as I totally felt led by God to bring it. A terrible ending to a terrible movie. Lead girl goes with religious zealots instead of thinking for herself and learning reality? She’ll never get a degree in what she was passionate about, all because of her restrictive beliefs and family. What a terrible movie
I would like to write here about the movie, but most of all about me. When God found me at a very young age, I was taught by him everything I know about him and the power of his love. I went to University too and so many teachers were teaching evolution and I used to tell them that God is real, but they would not accept it because they were afraid to lose their jobs. A lot of Cristians agree the biological evolution to be a fact and Darwinian theory to be an adequate desctiption of the biological evolution. Moreover, there were many Cristians contributed to evolutional biology being scientists.

most of the things said by the opposition to creationism are false or misrepresented because if they were said correctly, without errors and by someone who knows what they are talking about the entire christian narrative would fall and the father would lose. I am a christian myself but for real, stop acting like flat earthers, science is not evil, bible is not 100% correct and if it would, bible study would not exist.
If by powerful message you mean further cementing the fact that creationists have no idea what evolution is, how science works, or basically anything attempted to be talked about in this farce of a movie, then yes. Very powerful.

One of the most fulfilling movies I've seen so far. This has always been the topic of great debate. Those who believe are not able to "prove" their faith and those who don't believe just need a reason not to. Sometimes it is so difficult to explain the truth of the Bible using logic coz that is not possible. I loved the way this dilemma has been so beautifully expressed in the movie. Faith is what you believe in and there no data or proof in the world to prove it. Submitting to Jesus is the key to develop a personal relationship with Him.

i'm glad to say that, yes, there is "proof in the world to prove it". when we fully & sincerely submit our lives as a gift back to Him (or, in other words, ask Him to come in & take over our lives, as I did) . He will prove Himself to us when we truly need it most. like He did when He allowed me to see an angel at a very low ebb in my life. or when He warned me of danger by simply saying: "keep your doors locked while you're over here." then later when someone tried to get into your car they couldn't bcz you had obeyed Him! your doors were locked! yes, there's often absolute proof of His being, His love, His presence.... PTL!!!
It’s almost like the Bible is fiction and has no truths, and believers are too stubborn to join others in the real world. This dilemma was a frustrating mess as a father tried forcing his religion on people trying to learn about the truth of the world

I agree this was a wonderful Christian movie! Some of the actors in this movie have been acting for several years. Like the two professors that were debating each other. One of them played the judge on the comedy series Night court and the other played on Walker Texas ranger and Matlock.
