I think it is good to be aware of the boundaries of another person's physicality and to approach, "How about a hug?", "Can I give you a hug?". I like it.
Yes! "Consent" conversations need to happen sooner than later! As a foster parent, I've heard the horror stories of inappropriate things that have happened to innocent children. They need to be empowered to say "no" and know that their body is their own. We don't even make our kiddos hug friends and family if they don't want to.
Jenna talking about Barbara’s wedding was so sweet and reveals the humanity of a first family. Im glad for Barbara that she had the self-esteem to have a private wedding of her own style. As for the me-too consent issue, I think Megyn is creating something out of nothing as usual. Why can’t we have Jenna replace Megyn?
I have a child how has autism, and I tell people they must ask her if she wants a hug before hand because sometimes she says, "Yes" but other times she says, "No." And neither one is wrong. I always ask another person if they want a hug, because a hug may not be comforting to them, but rather, uncomfortable. I teach to always put another's need first.
I don't understand what the big deal is about teaching kids that if they want to hug someone they need to say "would you like a hug?" you can't just go around randomly hugging people, Megyn Kelly. If we teach our sons when they are 8 they will not become habitual predators when they are adults.
Mary J I agree with that but unfortunately there’s just too much red tape in this country that we’re literally swimming in and that what she is complaining about.
Jojo Jo there’s a difference between strangers and classmates in PRIMARY school. There they are usually friendly, or at least know each other well. I’m studying birth through second education, about to graduate and finish my exams, and kids need to be comfortable in their own bodies, so we teach them “don’t touch my body” and “no hugs now”, not “can I hug you?”. If they are sad they get a hug. They come and hug us. I don’t want them uncomfortable to hug their teacher as very young kids. Teaching “can I hug you?” Isn’t a bad lesson it’s just a little early for it. We need to be comfortable in our bodies and have a strong voice ourselves. Personally I’ve rarely been asked if someone could kiss me, and if they tried to get intimate I’ve said no, I’m sorry, I don’t want that, repeatedly until it is heard or have found help (as a teen).
These debate sections on Kelly's show do a much better job at showing both sides of the conversation. It needs to replace "The View" which has become a way for prime time to mock conservative views with a 3 to 1 ratio and sneering audience. The country is starving for balanced discussions. Megyn Kelly does an excellent job at moderating discussion preferring facts over emotion, while still being personable. Would love her entire show to be conversations about "topics". Maybe call it The "Views" (plural) instead of The View, which is only one side. ;)
BAR. By mentioning the View, you also show your bias because Fox News is extremely biased towards Liberals and Progressives and mock them all the time so your criticism is one sided. You're doing the same thing you're accusing the View of doing!
Genevieve Marie you have a good point. Fox is also one sided and mocks. I think a show where Megan moderates real conversation is needed for both sides to see the others opinion. Thanks for calling that out!!!
Teachers need to leave those conversations to the parents, unless they see or hear that something directly happened in their classroom they need to address.
Exactly. Let them hang on to childhood traditions. It’s keeping them out of trouble. I’d much rather my teen son trick or treat with his little sister instead of vandalizing houses or getting drunk on Halloween.
I suspect the problem is the older kids who only want to terrorize the younger kids. I had some in my crew in tears and wanting to go home because a kid was following us around trying to scare them.
I agree. We also don't always know a teen's mental capabilities or an exact age (coming from the place of being a mother to a boy who started life at almost 12 pounds and continued to grow taller above average, appearing to be a young adult at age 10 complete with facial hair).
Kelly is being a bully in this talk about Consent. It's one thing to express an opinion, but there are 3 other participants and at least one or two other opinions. Kelly is hogging the air time and pressing that her opinion is correct . . . and it's not for everyone else, though how she sounds, she wants it to be.
Why is Megyn out talking everyone else? If she wanted to be the only one to speak on the topic of consent she should have saved this for a time when she could have the set to herself.
The aggressor needs to be taught. It’s not the receiving person who should always say no. The doer needs to ask consent for the action. Replace MK with Jenna.
I completely agree with Kelly on the 8 year old consent .. I mean really.... too bad NBC botched Kelly she was fabulous and I grew to like her at Fox when she battled Trump and really respected her when she made the leap to real media.
How isn't she cancelled yet🤔. NBC should have axed her instead of Steve Harvey. At least Steve's show had substance and he knows how to give interviews....
Meghan those little children understands better than you think. The world has changed. Do remember that children are also molested by family members so they can say to that person that they didn't give consent to touch them. If they are not being taught at home then the school is the best place to learn about consent because it happens there too. I love that teacher..
I am also a fan of needing consent for family. I HATED being told to hug and kiss my grandparents every time we saw them and left them. My grandfather reeked of chewing tobacco and I wasn't comfortable. There were times when I wanted to give them a hug but times that I didn't. I wish I would have been asked or allowed to just go to them when I wanted. I never told or ordered my son to give my parents a hug or kiss nor allowed them to demand it. I set the precedent very early on that if they wanted that, they had to ask him.
No need for consent. Just teach the children to ignore the impulse to hug anyone for any reason. Don't show emotion. Don't feel sorry for anyone who may be hurt. Don't allow anyone into your space. Don't go into anyone else's space. Don't smile it may give the wrong impression. Don't openly communicate with anyone because they may take it the wrong way. Don't make eye contact. Just...Don't.
Seventy-five-percent of the requirement to sustaining a career as a television personality, male or female, can be found in hair dye, oh, I forgot to mention members of Congress and television journalists too, so, a replacement for Kathie Lee Gifford, must be well schooled in the fine art of this continuing masquerade. Network executives will only be interviewing those that can look good in various shades of marketable dyestuffs and will be looking to the general public for guidance and approval, like what’s currently trending…
Lol I've had people ask me if they could but me as an adult and it's weird, I can imagine a child doing it lol. But in all actuality, like the guy said, we should hear the teacher and see it put into context. I'm sure it's not as preposterous as it sounds... Maybe???
Sharica, i agree! I would like to see the context of it. Although, I don't want this kind of stuff being taught to my small children in SCHOOL, PERIOD. Its a parents choice what they do and do not want to teach THEIR OWN children, teachers need to teach curriculum that's it!!!!!!!!
Was Barbara Bush wearing a nightgown? Too tacky, too revealing, too much skin, there are many other better classy gown styles that would've been better worn by her such as the 2 beautiful gowns Meghan Markle the Duchess of Sussex wore this past May.
How can anyone watch this mean lady show. I cannot stand Megyn Kelly. Shes mean. Shes very judgemental. I cant even stand to hear her voice. This show should be cancelled.
Because Jenna has taken my heart by her sweetness, I now love the whole Bush family!
Jenna Bush is ridiculously cute and sensitive. Gosh I admire the love in their family.
Shes a privilged fawrktard like her daddy case closed!
I just love Jenna Bush. She is just so sweet.

There is no reason why anyone should question if someone is not married 😸- or else divorced and etc
It's like Please and Thank You. Teach by example and repetition. Jenna Bush would be a great replacement for MK.

Look around. It's common sense to teach children consent from a young age.
Mary J I agree with that but unfortunately there’s just too much red tape in this country that we’re literally swimming in and that what she is complaining about.
Agreed.
I disagree with Meghan. Getting consent is VERY important. I dont like strangers "comforting" me.

Love everyone in this panel!!! MORE MORE MORE
So, so refreshing!
I agree, Megyn!
If teens are🏠 trick or treating don't ruin it for them. Life is tough, temptation, bulling and peer pressure .... Let them eat candy

Notice how Megyn is focusing on one school and one teacher like Republicans always do to imply that this is mainstream.

When I have my little nephew with me, random ladies touch his hair. It makes me cringe.
The wedding dress was too revealing. She has always seemed so classy, but this was a definite classless gown....more like lingere than a wedding gown.
