the contrast between the funky fuzzy sounds of west Africa to around 5:00 hits your heart like divine love, which is obviously something Julian's talent channels
I love it when artists(Julian Casablancas) take a foreign type vibe (like African music/vibes) and add it to an 80s synth pop type vibe! Love the way it sounds!
I love this song and ill try to explain why. This song is like the son playing incoherent music in the garage, when one day his father comes in at the 1min mark with a beautiful electric guitar of sorts and just makes so much sense and turns it into a masterpiece. This kind of theme perpetuates this song and thats why its called father electricity. The struggle to make great music sometimes results in things all over the place but certain moments it all resonates perfectly when the father guitar comes in. Kind of like Jazz music when you can hear the members of the band work together through how they are feeling at that exact moment. Its just feels so right.
Words cannot describe how much I truly love this album, I would be miserable without it. Whenever I let myself get lost in this beautiful collection of songs, it takes me to an entirely different reality. This hits the hardest on the album, and is definitely my favorite track after finding out what it's really about.
I remember one day that I had an anxiety attack and the only thing that made me feel better was this song on repeat mode. Never stop making music, Julian.
i shouldn't be listening to this stuff right now as my mind is collapsing and i'm fighting just to stay alive, but it's just that i can't stop... it's so beautiful.
@@cuakmelu I’m glad bro, same thing happening to me. But I know we can overcome anything, and we just need to always think optimistically and know that there are always people out there who care. And the Voidz definitely help provide us with music to live by and comfort us in times of pain
this one is a whole journey, I loved it since the first time I heard it and it's one of my favorite songs not only from the album but from Jules too. awesome!
The first time I heard this song, I didn't understand the style and I felt that there was a lot of noise, after giving it a second chance, I can't stop listening to it. Just geniuses.
I maybe wrong but this song seems to me to have one of the deepest meanings from all songs on the album. I think the title already suggests that it is about energy we share, relationships between people, something that is relevant to every single person on Earth. Mother-Earth, Father-Electricity. I maybe wrong. But it's my interpretation. I think the song could be about the choices we make and it describes how most of the people, like puppets, are controlled by their own ignorance and unconsciously follow their instincts and without thinking go to the places that make them feel strong without slightest consideration whether it is right or wrong what they do, they just create an illusion that it makes them feel powerful and satisfied. "Oh, man, what are we going to do now? All I know are i-i-i-instincts". While if you consciously consider what's happening and you have strong morality and you are honest to yourself you crash and don't fit in society filled with inhuman, inconsiderate, profit/money driven people , "You are everything I see - every time I blink - despair". I think this song has a very similar meaning to River of Breaklights from Phrazes for The Young. Which is I believe is about loss of energy, exhaustion. That song is on of a few that Casablancas performs almost every gig with Voidz. As well as Ize of The World. That one must have something in common too. I wonder what impressions other people get?
I first listened to this song live, I was more excited about Julian than the song itself, but I have to admit the song and the album are good, really good!

First I heard this song I thought it is really wierd and can have a lots of different meanings. I found that little guitar riff is so catchy and good during the chorus. Then watched the video clip, and it gave a whole different meaning to this song for me. Could not watch the whole video because of the animal cruelty. Now I think this is one of the saddest, beautifully grotesk song ever made by humans. Crossing that melancolic slow part with scary prophet speech "lock the doors and hide the keys and waake the doctor..." with that georgeus guitar riff then creating panic with Julians anger roars - during all of that remembering the pointless animal cruelty and the people who just think that it is normal what is happening and it is "culture", tradition - "you are everything I see every time I blink I am in despair..." just makes me more angry, scared, sad and just crying. Beatiful musical melodies and singing and in the end the whole outcome is rage and sadness. Absolutley amazing song.
I just discovered Julian a few months ago and I can’t believe I was just going about my life while his music existed. Whatever divine intervention led me to this all I can say is wtf took so long.....?????
It makes me feel like im in a hawaian tropical sunset high party, Jules included in the bongo music just making one with the moment and everybody just having a really great time getting drunk dancing oround to this

Best album ever. Glad they don't sound like the Strokes. What's the point of being in a band that sounds like the other band?

But I agree.

this song is so destructively beautiful and melancholic. well done, Julian.
When I listen to this song, I feel as if I travel around the world.
That's called _astral projection_ and is a supernatural ability.
