Jessica and Geoff are the fantastic characters driving the unique Fly DC3 association in New Zealand, that holds a commercial AOC and keeps Betsy in the air, a beautiful DC-3 Dakota (C-46). Patrick was lucky enough to be invited to join one of Betsy's fantastic flight excursions in April 2021 which resulted in an amazing Ultimate Cockpit Movie, featuring three full flights with stunning aerial views and lots of exciting interview sequences and presentations. This film is a must for all who love the DC-3 - welcome aboard!
For all filming conducted in security restricted and/ or safety relevant areas, all required approvals are obtained well before our on-site work starts. Calls to and readbacks from ATC are re-enacted based on memory and outside of the actual communication.

Thank you so much Patrick for coming down to New Zealand and showing the aviation world our classic aircraft we have flying. Im sure the covid19 tests were worth it. Keep up the marvelous filming you do around the world as a wonderful legacy for future plane geek's to see and experience through all this footage. Great vlog and Great aircraft! I loved the nick name for the F-27, the dutch butterbox. Haha! Braathens SAFE/ BU of Norway was the 2nd airline to buy the F-27 after EI. NAC was also very early. I know BU did at least two flights with their DC-3s, they only had two. One from 1947-62, one from 57-64, flying from Oslo to Tokyo. Imagine that in a DC-3. They flew crew for ships. 20-25 pax half way around the world at 170 kts! Mamma Mia! Two weeks round trip for sure! Puh!
This is the most soothing cabin sound of any plane I’ve ever heard. I would love just to fly around and nap in it for the afternoon.

I’ve been fortunate to fly on Betsy twice - as a kid in the WB days and with my best mate after she became NZ3546 - but this is a whole new take on one of New Zealand’s longest-serving warbirds. What a great video! I love how accessible technology has made these wonferful machines.

That DC3 is my age - I used to fly DC3s' in Niu Guinea and New Britain, in late sixties and early seventies - A real work horse and a delight to fly.
