      My grandfather was among those that got out. Im 50 now but this brings about many memories. They moved north to get away from all of this, only to be victimized again and died penniless. I shudder to think how close we came to being his victims. The Bible needs to be put back together properly translated and we need to be aware of ALL the sacred texts it was copied from. It’s all coming together in this generation. We are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. 😅

    It's such a shame that racism and early Pentecostalism were so intertwined, like two vines growing up together, it seems like it was so impossible to separate them that black people had to form their own churches as the only way to not be discriminated against and excluded. Jesus didn't discriminate against the Samaritans, unlike the other Jews of His time.

    • @ravissary79
      @ravissary79 Год назад

      In the early 20th century it was pretty wide spread. Different people came to a better understanding at different times. Heck, the SBC was even worse.
      But at least they didn't have a theology that rationalized racism, like the late 1800s calvinists did, or the Mormons, who said black skin was a sign of being cursed.
      I know there's been efforts to fold the black and white pentacostal denominations together, but thats pretty hard now because so many of the black pentacostal church leadership went to liberation theology in the last few decades (see: Jim Jones, Pope Francis and The Sandinistas... it's essentially Marxism in a spiritual venee).
      So it's an unfortunate missed opportunity that the AG made that choice early on. It seems to have been more of a social melieu/community based division. There was a lot of racial optimism at the beginning of the Pentacostal movement, but as political and community based racial division started to heat up, it seems that there were those in leadership more afraid of what people thought than taking a stand.

    My understanding is that the division was based on a different view of sanctification. The COG believes it is a second work. The AOG does not.

    For 3 years of my youth, I was a Royal Ranger in the AOG from the 5th to 8th grade. My Royal Ranger teacher, deacon and later Pastor of the Church made it clear to me and the other boys that Blacks were animals with no soul like a dog.. that was in the late 1960s. I know first hand that what John is saying is true. however, now you find blacks in their churches now, so I'm not sure if they still hold to that belief.

    Orthodoxy of the apostles and early church fathers fixes this. There is a US return to the one, true, holy, apostolic church founded by Christ and the apostles, the Orthodox Church. They already saw the gnostic and pentecostal Montanist movements in the beginning and rejected them, clarified the doctrine in the councils, and compiled the Bible.

    115 And a Christian that’s dead, and buried, and raised with Him in His resurrection, in Heavenly places! See, “If we are dead with Him, then we’re also raised with Him,” for the Body goes where the Head is. And He is the Head, and this is the Body. And not will be, but, “Now we are seated together in Heavenly places in Christ Jesus,” with every power of the devil conquered and under His feet. Authority! Authority, there is the ensign. That’s the hand that lifts up, that counts.
