    Thank you so much for the tips, Susan! We do indeed have russet potatoes here in Canada, so I will have to give this a try!

    I've been looking for a recipe like this ever since I purchased my DUO Crisp. I haven't used the air fryer lid yet, so the chunky chips will be my first use. I am not a fan of the skinny chips sold in most places but have a hunch this recipe will solve that once and for all.

      Oh that's great to hear - a bit of experimenting and you should be able to get them exactly how you like them! Happy chipping 😊

    Just got the pro crisp 7.6l. A bit disappointed as no recipe book, Qr code for app sends me to Canadian or American sites. So you are a godsend. I cook for 3 or 4 adults, will I be able to cook chips for four? And have more the 6 each. Thank you.

    • @CookingandCalm
      @CookingandCalm  2 года назад +1

      Thank you Thomas. The problem with airfryers is that you generally need to keep food in one or at most two layers for them to go crisp, so it's fine for two people. I'm not sure you would get great results with more and would likely need to do in 2 batches. Hope that helps and you enjoy your IP

      Hi Lesley, assuming you've got the Instant Pot Crisp (with air fryer lid) , yes you can do 2 layer cooking. Chips in the bottom of the basket and sausage on the silver tray that can sit at the top of the basket. Same with bacon etc. You can also do what's called 'pot in pot cooking' - eg. a curry or chilli in the bottom with rice cooking at the top layer. I also do whole roast chicken or chicken thighs with potatoes etc. Lots on the channel so have a zip through and shout me again if you can't find anything. So sorry for the delay Rose- your comment has been put in the review section for no apparent reason. Thank you so much for your kind comments. Yes I have used it for pressure cooking and it's brilliant. It doesn't work for air frying and that row of buttons next to it. You've probably discovered that by now! How's it all going with it?

    • @CookingandCalm
      @CookingandCalm  Год назад +1

      Hi Danielle - no I haven't but you got me interested as I've not heard of them! Do you mean 'chips' shaped like the thick cut potato ones in the video (sometimes called potato wedges in US). And are they covered in breadcrumbs or just the carrots in oil? Happy to have a go if you tell me a bit about how you would like them to be

    • @dani88light
      @dani88light Год назад

      @@CookingandCalm “Chips” more American style, thinner cut and flat, like what you run through a food processor in the slicing function. I was thinking just plain carrots with oil and herbs. Maybe olive oil with rosemary and sea salt? Or dill, or cumin with coconut oil?

    • @CookingandCalm
      @CookingandCalm  2 года назад +1

      Hi Andy - thank you. Yes I should have highlighted the actual temperature rather than just saying AirFry Max - for me the max temp on AirFry is 204C, which is about 400F I think. I hope that helps.

    What temperature should you set the instant pot when air frying chips?

    • @CookingandCalm
      @CookingandCalm  Год назад +1

      It sort of depends how you like them. You can just do them straight through on max 200c ish which is quickest or if I have more time I tend to start mine at 170 for 10m then up to max until done. (They're a bit more even that way) Hope that helps

    What temperature is best?

    • @CookingandCalm
      @CookingandCalm  Год назад +1

      Hi Matthew , it does vary a bit depending on the potato variety but I usually preheat & use between 190c and the Max setting. If you find yours are burning on the outside before fully cooked, start them a bit lower then blast them on full for the final 5 or so. I hope that helps

      I am going to do some more experiments but I must admit I've not found any way of making them as crispy as white potatoes - I think it's just the basic composition is so different. I don't mind them smushy myself :)

  • @Tenshi_ZA
    @Tenshi_ZA 2 года назад +1

    Those do look good. But please be careful. Those chips look awfully brown which means they contain high traces of Acrylamide. Never cook chips until brown like that and never above 180 degrees celcuis.
