Thank you for this video! Since reading ACOTAR and From Blood and Ash I've been really into fantasy romance, but it's hard to find either romance books in a fantasy setting, or fantasy books with a strong romance element. One of the favourites I've found is the Aspect and Anchor series by Ruby Dixon, which has a perfect slow-burn romance with a really well-developed fantasy world.
Are the characters really developed? I want to read that book as well, but one of the things I hate the most is when the main character is whiny and has that sort of personality, while the rest of the book is perfect. I just read a book similar to what I just described and it was a waste of a book just because of that
@@nancy54379 I found the MC in the first book to be great, she's sarcastic and made me laugh several times. The love interest is an 'aspect' of a god - basically the king/god of the gods has sent them to the mortal plane but split them into four "aspects" - apathy, lies, hedonism, and arrogance (if I remember correctly), so there are four identical immortal people who have to find and kill each other to get back to their respective domains lol. Each aspect gets a mortal 'anchor' who helps them, and whatever aspect wins (i.e. kills the other three aspects) their anchor gets to go with them to the afterlife. In the first book the MC ends up as the anchor to the god of battle, the second one follows the god of death. Because of this whole aspect thing I found the story to be surprisingly character-driven while also following a good plot. I would totally recommend that you try it out!
Wonderful tour. I loved seeing all your pretty editions and the insides of books. The Bridge Kingdom duology is so good and so is Nalini Singh. I think that you will really enjoy Angel's Blood.
5:59 - I’m currently reading the kiss of deception, and the way you don’t know who’s the assassin and who’s the prince is amazing, I’m having so much fun trying to figure out who is who. However, the romance’s barley there. I’m hoping to read more romance in the second book.
This video was everything omggg I’ve been hooked on fantasy romance since reading from blood and ash so this vid gave me so many good recommendations!!! So many books I want to read and so little time 😅😅😅😅😅 Sorcery of thorns is one of my fave books of all time it makes me so 🥺🥺🥺💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
I've only recently discovered fantasy romance (I read From Blood and Ash in January) and absolutely fell in love! Great video, I've got so many recommendarions from this 🧡
Fantastic video - thanks so much! Yes, would love to see the Sarah J Mass video Also, my copy of Deadly Dreams by KJ Sutton arrived the other day. I’ve purchased this series based on your recommendation. I’ve also purchased Grace Draven’s books, which I think you also recommended (Dragon Unleashed and Phoenix Unbound).
I have read Sarah J Mass nothing yet. I have bought Crescent City and plan to read it soon. So I would like to see a video please. When you first bought Gods and Monsters I rushed out and bought the first book too. Can't wait to read that as well. I would reccomend The Hollows series. It is on the lighter side of romantic fantasy but I live the series it is so good!!
Thank you for the list, there was a few I havent read yet. A few not on your list I read last year would be: Amelia Hutchins: The legacy of the 9 relms (OMG SO GOOD!!) Amelia Hutchins: The Fae Chronicles Amelia Hutchins: The elite Guards Amelia Hutchins: Monsters Series Sarah J Maas : Crescent City Chronicles Jennifer Armentrout: Harbinger Series Jennifer Armentrout: Covenant series Jennifer Armentrout WIcked Series
I absolutely adore poison study and its romance but I do feel its more fantasy than romance. I'd say it has similar levels to the start of Throne of Glass. (still read it though its amazing, the friendships are so good)
i loved sorcery of thorns and serpent of dove. listen to the audio for serpent and dove while you read it is pretty good i absolutely loved lou. have you ever thought about delving into christine feehan i did start a series but it was pretty smutty to begin with about vampires the first book is called dark prince and apparently there are now 35 books in the carpathian series
Great video! A paranormal fantasy series that I love is the Dirk & Steele series by Marjorie M. Liu. It has lots of shape shifters, magic, and plenty of smut haha. Each book is a standalone, but all set in the same world. I would still start with the first one called Tiger Eye, it's one of my favorites! I hope you like them if you check them out!
I would def love to see your Sarah J Maas shelf! Also I would highly recommend the Green Creek series by: TJ Klune. All I can say about the series is “Gay Werewolves” it is everything and more! The first book is Wolfsong. I high recommend you check it out!
I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend Evenfall by Gaja J. Kos and Boris Kos! The first two books in the series are out as of now (Evenfall, Emergence), and although the first book doesn’t have a big amount of romance, the second one does! I hope you do check them out.
I'm also not reading quite as much YA fantasy these days, but I'd still recommend the A Curse So Dark and Lonely series!! Great romance once you get into it 💞
Please read Friends with the Monsters would love to see what you think. I just finished reading it and it was such a breath of fresh air after the blood & ash series. It's fast paced, and the shit that comes out of the main characters mouth is just great 😅 Also Grim 😛👌
Wow it's really hard to find a book where the female character isn't either a damsel in distress or is in a relationship with the power given to the other party (she is the maid, he is the ceo/she is the one who is being kidnapped/ she is being forced into a marriage,...)
Oooo I could create the biggest of shopping lists from what you have shown, I do have a lot of them too. I will send you a DM with some fantasy romance books. Great video though x
i found your voice super soothing... i would love a fantasy romance potcast from you 😉 i'm currently reading Radiance by Grace Draven and i get the hype
you have to read Nalini Singh and JR Ward - one day lol - I must admit I re-read the Singh books all the time because they are all on audible and not all the Black Dagger Brotherhood are....
I have and read ‘disenchanted’ as well! It was a lovely read. The author is writing ‘disillusioned’ and plans one other book as well in the meantime! Did u like it? Pleaseeeeee read the book trilogy ‘Trylle’ by Amanda Hocking that is fantasy romance!
Hi Becca! I’m Brazilian and really like your videos :) it’s a little difficult to understand everything 100% because my english is not soooo good and some titles haven’t been publisher here but I really like your channel 🥰. Ps: where are you from? Your accent is a little different
The Ixia Series is incredible and I'd love to do a Reread/Readalong. 👀 No pressure, but, if I do I'm going to ask you to join me because I need to know ALL your thoughts on it haha
I would totally love to see a Sarah J Maas specific video. And thank you so so much for introducing me to this genre 😊
If you love fantasy romance I'd highly recommend Reign & Ruin by J.D. Evans. Slow burn lots of yearning. I was really surprised by how good it was.
Girl I love that bookkk!!! It's one of my favourites
Becca : "asks this crowd I we would want a Sarah j maas collection video"
Us: "you're kidding right??" 😂
