I try and never mess with the recoil because once I messed it up so bad that it wasn't ever going to work again. I have my little finger messed up and I catch things without trying and the other day I was moving something off the workbench and the finger caught the open box of drill bits. Out they came all over the floor and underneath the workbench. Pissed me off! I watched a few channels where they work on stihl products and they talk about how bad stihl oil for the mixing with gas is so they recommend other oils, like Echo red max and how it keeps the top of the piston clean.

Probably should try a shot or two of that Echo oil on your finger....might help. lol

Nice. Try doing it on an early model 015. That'll bring out your true shorsey.

So what did you do off camera to get the spring to catch? I am having the exact same issue after replacing my pull cord. Of course the spring came out and I had to fight it to get it back in and now the pulley is not catching the spring and just spins like yours was doing before you fixed it off camera.
