I have the Anvil and that thing took me 2 days to find a good fit. Nearly gave up before I settled on one of the shorter tips from the included package. I actually hear it very different from you, Mark. To my ears it's a bright airy set, mid-bass focused but not very warm. I guess it goes to show how we all hear things very differently.
It could be those tips that you found comfortable. I had the same problem with some IEMs. The may fit you well but don't sound as intended or maybe that's what those tips are supposed to do.
Yes the Anvil requires short eartips because the entire shell needs to fit inside the ears for the bone conduction to work properly. I use short eartips so that I'm able to push the Anvil entirely into my ears, it produces highly textured sound when the fit is perfect.
@@VSN-wb2ly nah, it's just Chinese marketers smashing a keyboard while drunk on sake. Have you seen the names of literally half the stores on Chinese online marketplaces?
Nice! I love shootouts. I was hoping the Kinera Celest Relentless would have been in there... It was not meant to be. It's also less than $200. Maybe next time they'll be a sub $200 category. 😃
I really like the 61t with feaulle h570 tips, so I'll just stick with those and my million other iems lol. Anvil piqued my interest, but I already have a UM Mext and penon fan 3 for my bc urges.
The Pula Anvil114 fit is very weird, with Moondrop spring tips I got a very good and comfortable fit. To be honest, they do sound pretty good. The technical performance are great, and the packaging of them too. The problem is, they don’t provide good eartips to work with this weird fit. Yeah, you get A LOT of ear tips with them, but none of them is going to be good with fitting them in ear. And also the tuning is kind of weird, but enjoyable. It is very bad for Pula, because after getting a good eartips and fit with eartips like moondrop spring tips, they sound incredibly better. The fact you don’t get that out of the box is disappointing.
Your DaVinci will last you two years! Don’t buy into the hype of ‘new’. My general advice to anyone is to, at the very least, skip a generation. Maybe two……
They'd last you even 10 years, dw. You can EQ w/e you don't like for free and with most stuff being similar anyways, don't expect to find something "groundbreaking" anytime soon. No need to fall into the consumerism pithole but slightly altered tuning when EQ exists. If you're going to "upgrade" just shoot for something with EST drivers next and thats it, achieved "endgame".
Could you review the Mark Levinson 5909? What’s unique about these high-end “audiophile” headphones is that they supposedly follow the Harman target the best. I would be interested in your opinion.
The Anvil's and NX8 15k spikes - though I could never hear that, would young folks find that a problem? Seems a BA is in there to hype that region. I wonder if us older folks who cannot hear 15k would still feel it to some degree.
Mark - have you ever done a review of IEMs in the context of a mixing system - such as for on-stage performers? Given when used as a real monitor rather than a music listening system - with a mixing system in front of IEMs, you can EQ them, add compression, reverb and many more changes. In that context, you would maybe not want Harmon but rather a more flat starting point that can be changed through the mixing board. Big names in that genre are 64Audio, Ultimate Ears, Alclair and a few other names. Those names all cost more even for the low-end versions like 1 to 4 BA models. The sound out of Chi-Fi consumer class IEMs is great but did wonder if you ever reviewed for stage performance reasons. Some go with custom-molds and not consumer tips there as well.
You can try running a frequency sweep with the IEMs in your ears (e.g. on the EQ tab of Squiglink), probably you will hear the treble dip and peak at areas that are close to what you see on a graph (but not exactly).
Mark, do you know the brand Unique Melody? It would be interesting to see your analysis of some of their headphones. I have the Mest MK2 and I think it is much better than others I have, such as the Moondrop Variations, the Kato and the Hifiman Arya headphone, of course, taking into account the type of each one. I really enjoy the content of your videos. Greetings from Brazil!
I was really impressed with the MEST and MEST mk2 when I heard them, but it's been a while. I'm curious how they'd hold up today -- they are a bit bright!
My Kato broke down. I was finding it hard whether to pick Juzear 81T or Aful Performer 5+2. I heard good things about the 81T but ended up purchasing the Aful P5+2 online just because there's more reviews on it than on the Juzear 81T. It's gonna arrive in 3-4 days. Why didn't you include the Performer 5+2 here? (It's not in the title). Isn't it similar in price to the 81T? Should I have gone for the 81T? It's actually cheaper by 0.66 dollars than the Performer in my country and both on a 20USD discount. I also picked the Performer because it's the last one (there were only 3 units in the online shop in the whole country).
Eh, none of these are that great IMO. KE4 is too warm/polite, 81T and D62 too bright, Anvil poor BCD implementation. At this price I would take the old Performer 5 or PA02 over these, and they cost significantly less now. For new stuff the i3 mk3 and FD15 are more impressive in tech and have a more special tuning and both are much cheaper as well, and the shells are nicer. Just save up for the $300-400 hybrids if you are considering these.
Basically an Akros video from Mark, heck yeah
I got the hexa by your recomendation and I am amazed!!!! For the moment dont need anything new. But I am shure something better will show up
And the winner? The Truthear Hexa!

I never got to try the 81T, but among the others that you have mentioned PULA ANVIL114 is my favorite.
great. kindly do for the price bracket 300-400 usd as this is mostly endgame for many.

@@rem792 definitely the tips messing with the sound. Shorter tips reduce isolation, thus reducing the bass, making it sound brighter.

Totally agree with you, I was very surprised how he feels about the anvil
Excellent comparisons. I'll stick with my Explorer and wait for a v2.
Explorer v2 is coming?
@aadesh_kale Haha not that I know of, but I'll blind buy if there is any.
I'll never read CKLVX in the same way again. They should pay you for the branding improvement. :) Great review as always.
Nice timing, was looking for my first hybrid iem but don't wanna spend too much, awesome content as always Mark 🤙
Sticking to my Truthear Nova
Great video😊
Unfortunately my depression is quite bad today. But I still managed to enjoy the review. Tks❤
Hang in there homie 🤙
The "cuklvux" 😂

You could do this roundup with Ziigaat hybrids around 2-300 alone. Would like that actually. Can’t figure out which one of them to try.
Estrella Doscinco Odyssey Arete Arcadia in that order. Depends on your tastes
This is what i call perfect review..Love the graphs too. Thanks Mark 👍

Spring tips sound like a good match for Pula, they're short 👍
Whatever you do, DO NOT USE FOAM TIPS!
@@kr33k00 I don't like foam tips anyway
I agree, I own over 30 different types of eartips and only the short stem eartips works the best with the Anvil.
Estrella when purchased on black friday sale 😁
Chopin ftw in the $200 department
Agreed.
I thought the Aful P5+2 would be in the shootout as well!
I was mostly focused on the new ones and used KE4 as a baseline, but good to see some interest in more general shootouts for the future.
Damn bro, I thought my DaVinci would last me two years. But Chi-Fi moves at the speed of light
DaVinci is good, be happy 👍

I was not impressed with the 5909 when I tried it briefly at CanJam. Pretty trebly, fee, and ugly.
@@SuperReview I heard that the treble issue was patched in a firmware update. Which high-end wireless headphones would you recommend?

Would take Supermix 4 over all of them

I heard a few at CanJam in 2023. They're fun, a little contrasty, not something I'd listen to a lot though.
