Personally I spent years working for Jaguar during the late 80's to early 90's - making cars was the aim, not about what the identity was of who made them or who drove the things.
But if you produce an elegant car that might have the mechanics to still be good in 50 years, then you haven't got forced obsolescence. It's a similar issue to getting an old school watch. It's meant to be crafted and elegant and persist. But to an advertiser, being a classic is likely a problem to be fixed. The real business of a company is funding ad execs. Fashion by contrast lets you sell something, then sell something else, then get back to the previous thing, while yesterdays fashions can become landfill.
i don't trust anything engineered and built by people hired based on who they screw or the color of their skin and not on experience, accomplishments and work ethic. its just unsafe.

I was just thinking a few days ago how commercials and ads have completely lost the plot and aren’t made to sell products as products anymore. They’re selling ideology and agendas.
Anyone wearing that shirt in public has drunk the Kool-Aid fully. I've owned 3 Jaguars over the past 20 years; I guess it's now, "Hello Mercedes Benz!"
This comes only a couple months after the announcement that they would take a year off of selling cars. No, I am not making this up. It’s as if the whole company is taking a sabbatical. Jaguar was already a dead brand to car enthusiasts like myself. Now, they will be dead to most of their target market. Nothing short of a miracle will bring them back into relevance.
If i was a ford ad exec i would make an ad showing a hardworking bearded dude breaking a mould and a big ford truck coming out of it. Then him puting some fishing rods and beer in the bed of the truck and riding off. Then the words. 'We understand you - ford' would pop up
Ford was pretty good at that. I remember an ad from a couple decades ago with Alan Jackson singing that he was "Crazy 'bout a Ford truck". That seemed to hit the right audience.
I also always dreamed of owning an XK-E, the car Enzo Ferrari termed the most beautiful car ever built. Built models, etc. I bought one in 1973, a new V12 convertible. The steering wheel was not properly aligned when delivered. The frame was not aligned so it wiggled when in motion. During the 16 mos. I owned it it had to be towed 4 times because of engine quitting, once at the Drake Hotel in downtown Chicago. Required a special towing truck. I ended up taking it to a Jaguar Dealer and asking what they would give me for it. I took it. I believe it was the worst piece of mechanical junk I ever owned. An invaluable life lesson.

Interesting they put women in engineering with all those other groups. Women engineers must be thrilled. Can they define what a woman is?
Personally I spent years working for Jaguar during the late 80's to early 90's - making cars was the aim, not about what the identity was of who made them or who drove the things.
But if you produce an elegant car that might have the mechanics to still be good in 50 years, then you haven't got forced obsolescence. It's a similar issue to getting an old school watch. It's meant to be crafted and elegant and persist. But to an advertiser, being a classic is likely a problem to be fixed. The real business of a company is funding ad execs. Fashion by contrast lets you sell something, then sell something else, then get back to the previous thing, while yesterdays fashions can become landfill.
did they miss the memo that nobody wants DEI anymore?
I guess it took 4 months to develop that ad, it was intended as a celebration of massive Kamala win and confirmation that woke rules the universe.
This isn’t even DEI. This is beyond that.
Most never wanted it in the first place

I was just thinking a few days ago how commercials and ads have completely lost the plot and aren’t made to sell products as products anymore. They’re selling ideology and agendas.
The financiers of Washington D.C. have a hand in that. Easy money to those who push diversity.
Anyone wearing that shirt in public has drunk the Kool-Aid fully. I've owned 3 Jaguars over the past 20 years; I guess it's now, "Hello Mercedes Benz!"

No, I am not making this up. It’s as if the whole company is taking a sabbatical.

Nothing short of a miracle will bring them back into relevance.
I'm still disappointed in you Americans that Bud Light didn't fully collapse. Same with Disney.

If i was a ford ad exec i would make an ad showing a hardworking bearded dude breaking a mould and a big ford truck coming out of it. Then him puting some fishing rods and beer in the bed of the truck and riding off. Then the words. 'We understand you - ford' would pop up
Ford you need to hire this guy, pronto!
Ford, reading this?
Ford was pretty good at that. I remember an ad from a couple decades ago with Alan Jackson singing that he was "Crazy 'bout a Ford truck". That seemed to hit the right audience.
Ford sold Jaguar ages ago. It and Land Rover are now owned by India's Tata Motors.
I heard that after making this commercial, the company's thinking of replacing the "J" in their name with an "F".

As someone who has dreamed of owning a Jaguar since he was a kid, this is a tragedy. I guess that dream won’t be coming true.
nightmare?
They're not worth the headache anyway, far too many issues. Get a Lexus or an Audi instead.
Buy an old one. Jags haven't been REAL Jags since 1987 when they phased out the XK engine.
It feels like a beat up old Buick, in my very limited experience.
I’d suggest that anyone owning a Jaguar dumps it before it’s worthless.

Jaguar over here thinking it’s still 2020.
1980s when Culture club was big.
I think it's not so much that as these types have thoroughly infested middle and upper management at Jaguar. They're true believers, so they don't even notice how woke is on its way out, nor would they care: they are fully willing to tank the company to push their agenda. They have infected it like a virus and they want Jaguar to produce only wokeness and spread it everywhere.
And they think Saudi billionaires don't have internet in 2025, so their redacted AD could work.
For real, when will they learn that we simply DO NOT CARE
this is more behind than 2020, around 2015 maybe some tumblr idiots would have defended it

Here in the UK, people are handing their Jaguars back to the dealers.
Sure they've got a lot of publicity, but they're not selling t-shirts or a video game, they're trying to sell luxury cars. Know your market
When will CEOs realize the goal of this kind of marketer isn't to sell cars, it's for the marketer to win awards. Idiots.
While you’re at it… go look at the Volvo ads. One is called ‘Safe space’. Completely anti-woke, and completely wonderful!
