Hi mate, exellent tutorial, but i have a question. I wanted to start playing sim but i cannot finish the tutorial..it says press SPACE to continue..i dont have a keyboard, just a xbox controller. Thanks in advance
how do you use wiew control axis if you are in dogfight. In dogfigh you haveto use yaw axis with wiew axis together. But in this set is not possible use yaw ax right stick with wiew axis which is right stick also. Thx for rply
Hey man, i rarely use yaw in a dogfight to be honest. Only occasionally, if i got someone behind me and i kick the rudder over to break or to fine tune my shots while chasing an enemy to help get guns on target. Unfortunately on gamepad we have to make sacrifices and i think you will lose out on some control no matter what stick you use whether it be yaw or pitch and roll. I personally would rather lose yaw as its not always crucial to good flight and fighting. I have a few videos that show me playing, so you can see how the controls work and what to expect :)
@@T_BG_TRRR I was looking for some of them. Your flying is nice and smooth. So you want to tell me you use your right stick only for wiew controll? Wow. How is it possible that you do not get into twist? What is the secret. Thx
@@TheSecretsOfTheBlackArts No, not only for view control. I use rudder/yaw alot but its not always necessary so i use that same stick for view also. I find if im scanning for targets or tracking, i very rarely need rudder. Just keep up air speed, have good trim settings and be easy with what you do. With my settings; sensitivity, nonlinearity and multiplier - i never flat spin in the planes i fly. You gotta be gentle and stay as fast as you can, it all takes practice and its not the easiest on gamepad
Been getting into the planes. took a day to set up controls. still can`t figure out how to disable targeting on a target. only after target is killed it stops. Every time go to aim it tracks on that target. And getting the battle map back. To see where everything is.
This video was very helpful! 1 question though, how do you get your Dpad to work? My Dpad functions just fine on my ps4 controller but when I bind a key to it, e.g. dpad down for gear down, when I press it in game it doesn't actually lower the gear. Any tips? (I'm playing on PC)
@@Quaz-rk1zm I would personally say that this control set is quite simple and all the necessary controls are easy to get to as well as easy to remember. Im pretty sure i would be safe to say that this set up is definitely one of the easiest ive seen on RUclips. Which is why i put "Simple" in the title
Alot of things go down to personal preference. This set up will allow you to do anything in a plane except for firing missiles. For missiles, i would suggest getting rid of engine controls to swap for missiles. You dont need engine controls for jets. To me, the button layout is good and the stick setting are pretty much spot on to allow aggressive flying but not so aggressive that you put yourself in a spin all the time.
And as you can see, my video is less than half the length of most other videos about setting up controls lol Granted that i dont really go into detail about anything but still. This set up i would say is the least confusing and still allows for everything you NEED to play well Looking now, other than WingalingDragons video this is the most recent. I know WingalingDragons set up is a little confusing (at least for me it is) A more up to date video especially concerning consoles or just playing with a controller is best. I think WingalingDragon and me are most recent regarding that
@@T_BG_TRRR alright thanks, i didnt set it up cause i had to sleep but i will do know. I always expect a little bit of getting used to it, and i domt really mind not being able to fire missles as i plan to use my german bombers and not my yak7 or chaika

Any recommendations are welcome!! Please let me know (I know there is a couple things i dont need, ive just used this set up for a long time and im used to it)
Its called P-factor or torque twist. The momentum of the direction the prop is spinning will cause the aircraft to yaw to one side. You need to use opposite rudder to counter it Its just real life physics
Trim your planes while in flight. Some planes have aileron, elevator and rudder trim while some planes might only have elevator or aileron trim. Not all aircraft have all 3 trim options in a match. If you can see 'trim tabs' on the control surfaces then you should be able to go in a test flight and set 'trimmer fixation' on that plane which will automatically save and apply itself when you use the plane. Hope that makes sense
@@KayBreezy2235 Pretty sure 109s only have rudder and elevator trim (the ones i have used anyway) to trim with this set up you just hold down R3 and move your left stick to a point you're happy and click L1. I dont have trimmer fixation on this video. Go onto controls and set something for trimmer fixation (I use R3+L1+R1) and that saves a trim setting. Ideally (i think) to set trimmer fixation properly you need to take off in test flight and get your plane up to a high speed or even a combat speed and fixate the trim at that point. Only fixate trim on a control surface that you cant set while in a match
Question I’m just getting started and I used the default simulator controls (ps4) and I can take off pretty easily but once flying it keep going up and will do loops if I don’t push down
What plane are you flying? Some planes generate alot more lift than others. Your controls are working fine otherwise i assume. Do you use 'aircraft trim' to adjust the trim on your elevators and ailerons? if not then i would suggest trimming the plane
I’ve watched your video a couple of times and I’m now able to get in the air and I can do some basic maneuvers but I’ve noticed that I have a hard drift to the left and I always have to correct it, do you know how I could fix this
I guess your not trimming your plane. You need to set trim Depending on what plane your flying, you can either set trim while in game and in flight, or some planes can only be trimmed in test flight (simulates you testing after mechanic sets trim) One control i didn't cover in this video is "trimmers fixation" which is the control you need for setting trim in test flight. Hope that makes sense.
I dont think it would matter. Full real just adds a couple features like engine management and trim etc. so settings and overall layout will be the same.
Yes, unfortunately Gaijin have needlessly changed the name of things and also added more control options which makes this more difficult. Ive been thinking about doing a new video but not sure

Thanks man this was really helpfull however i dont like the fact that i have to constantly hold the joystick so my plane doesnt go into a nosedive its especially bad when flying the mig 19 it seems like the pilot is pushing the stick forward without me doing anything. Also i have to reset the controls back to default if i want to play air rb for example.
I rarely play WT these days, it was full of bugs and no doubt things are as bad or worse now. About the nose constantly dropping, i assume you're not setting trim. Trim will help. Also, if the MIG-19 has SAS then set a control for that. SAS = Stability Augmentation System and if you cycle to 'dampning' mode then it will be better. I know some US jets have SAS but haven't flown any Russian jets so im not sure if they have SAS or not.
Yeah man, you could even use your keyboard with it too!! I think all you need is a USB cable to connect the controller to your PC but dont take my word for it as you may need software. Its definitely possible though!! Using a PS4 controller and keyboard combination is good
Is it possible to replicate flying settings from Battlefield 4 or 5? I'm very good with the Battlefield settings but with all the options in WarThunder I don't know if I can replicate it
Im sure you probably could but im not sure how effective it would be Also, it depends. For biplanes i think it could work. Early to late WW2 props, maybe. Some early jets, maybe. Top tier jets, i dont think so. You're best off finding a set up that will work for all aircraft while allowing for slight changes and modifications to the set up depending on whether you're in a prop or top tier jet.
How do i get rid of the sluggishness in planes. Like whenever I turn in a fighter its soooo slow and then i see other people maneuvering their plane like in realistic or arcade. I cant copy your controller set up because of muscle memory on my controls
Change the settings. Multiplier obviously multiplies your stick movement, so try turning it up a bit. Nonlinearity is essentially your stick length, higher nonlinearity makes your stick movement a little less twitchy by making the game think your on a 25cm stick rather than 5cm stick (for example, if that makes sense) Just have a mess around with those two settings as well as your overall sensitivity but stick length on controller is a factor to account for My settings work well for me with the stick length we have on controllers. So maybe copy my settings and the adjust them to suit you. Either higher or lower However, adjustments made to make your controls more sensitive might be detrimental to your accuracy with guns.
FYI - Check the comment i pinned for pitch, roll and rudder settings as well as video. The comment is an update from a couple weeks after i uploaded this
Yeah man, rather than fixing actual issues with the game, Gaijin decide to make changes to things that are fine. The menu needed a bit of work however they changed the names of many things which makes things difficult for people like you. Did you manage to figure it out?
You need to use rudder to counteract it. Some planes are trickier than others, it takes practice. Your plane viering off to the left is because of physics and how every action has an equal and opposite reaction. Its P-factor or torque twist from the power of the engine and directional spin of the props.
Ey bro,i didnt set up the "trim" and the "engine" controls because first i dont know what is the trim and second i feel like setting up the engines controls is unnecesary for me, but i dont know... what do u say? Its important? Btw when looking arround with the sticks i cant see behind me like u do on your video, why ?
For looking around, go into 'edit axis' for view in battle and make sure the settings are the same as mine. Nonlinearity, multiplier and correction are most important i think but the main one is multiplier at 0.99 and it should work Engine management isnt really important but it does help if you know how to use it, especially in certain planes but irrelevant to jets i think. Trim is important and i recommend you searching on RUclips for videos explaining trim. If you like to play sim then trimming your planes control surfaces will make playing much more enjoyable
@@T_BG_TRRR oh ok, i will check what is a "Trim" , maybe u already realised that i dont speak english perfectly so thats why i dont know some words like "Trim" , i speak spanish. Anyways, thanks! :)
@@mizzar4929 No worries man, your English is better than my Spanish!! :D You know if you play sim battles or use full real control in game, your plane doesn't want to fly straight because the wings are trying to lift and the torque from the engine and twist of the props make the plane always bank over to one side. You can 'trim' your plane while flying so you can fly level without much stick input. Real life pilots set their aircraft trim while flying Just search 'aircraft trim' and you will understand.
Bear in mind, not all planes have trim tabs. Some planes can only be set in test flight (imagine a mechanic setting the plane up how you like it to be). Some planes have aileron, elevator and rudder trim. Some planes might only have elevator or rudder trim. Not all planes have all 3 trimming capabilities and not all planes are trimmable while in game. You'll get the hang of it though, hope im making sense

Everything can still be used in 3rd person. Triangle, on the controller is 'change view'. FYI, this is more of a simulator control set up (which is fine) but simulator battles in WT doesn't allow 3rd person really. So i assume you play 'Realistic Battles'?- there may be a better control set up for you to use other than mine to be honest. Explain movement with what?

@@jackanderson313 Haha, yeah i had that issue at the start. It really frustrated me but i just got a short video up and all the settings the guy used, worked. However, i have altered them since and now play with this set up
The best way to probably get a change is if you go onto the forum and make a post about it with a few examples for people to vote for a favorite set up type. I obviously prefer the set up i have and its good for sim/RB but i know some other people have flight control on the D-Pad and different button layouts. It can all get really confusing with some set ups people have but i do like to THINK this control set up is pretty simple. I still haven't bothered with top tier and missiles ect. I love props
This was extremely useful, thanks But i have a question: I tried with different planes, and it automatically veers to one side, either left or right. How can i resolve this?
Thank you. Some planes are trickier than others and the main cause for that happening is because of the directional spin of the prop as well as engine torque. To counter it you must use opposite rudder to keep the nose pointed in the right direction but like i say, some planes are trickier than others. Some will allow you to go 100% throttle from take off with no issue and other planes might need a finer touch on the throttle, its all practice bud

I need to find a xbox controller video as idk the ps4 remotes any help?

13:22 How do you look around and fly at the same time?
Hope you were able to sort it out. I look around by pressing and holding down R3 (right stick button) OR L2. I have 2 controls set for looking around
@@T_BG_TRRR My man I am so grateful for your controls. They have helped me out seriously.

I need to reset the settings ass normal how i do that
For settings - Go into 'edit axis' and there should be an option to 'reset axis'
How can I look around?
I havent set up the controls yet but i wanted to ask if the controls werent overly complicated like other sim controller set ups i have seen have been
Or moe importantly easy to remember
This set up i would say is the least confusing and still allows for everything you NEED to play well
Looking now, other than WingalingDragons video this is the most recent. I know WingalingDragons set up is a little confusing (at least for me it is)
A more up to date video especially concerning consoles or just playing with a controller is best.
Thanks alot this helped me I would reccomend to change or remove some controls u may not like
Cheers bud, thats all im trying to do and im glad it helped. Sim is way more enjoyable in my opinion and the only reason i play the game. This set up definitely isnt the best but it is simple.
Any recommendations are welcome!! Please let me know (I know there is a couple things i dont need, ive just used this set up for a long time and im used to it)
Sorry late reply but why when I put powers down for take off does my planes bank to the left I also notice slightly when it’s in the air
Its called P-factor or torque twist. The momentum of the direction the prop is spinning will cause the aircraft to yaw to one side. You need to use opposite rudder to counter it
Its just real life physics
Trim your planes while in flight. Some planes have aileron, elevator and rudder trim while some planes might only have elevator or aileron trim. Not all aircraft have all 3 trim options in a match. If you can see 'trim tabs' on the control surfaces then you should be able to go in a test flight and set 'trimmer fixation' on that plane which will automatically save and apply itself when you use the plane.
Hope that makes sense
@@T_BG_TRRR yes it does also how do I adjust the trim I followed you buttons but forgot and the planes I use are the bf 109s
@@T_BG_TRRR I was using the CR.32 quarter
But yeah I will try the trim
Can we get an updated video for this plz. A lot of this crap has changed lol
I’ve watched your video a couple of times and I’m now able to get in the air and I can do some basic maneuvers but I’ve noticed that I have a hard drift to the left and I always have to correct it, do you know how I could fix this
I guess your not trimming your plane. You need to set trim
Depending on what plane your flying, you can either set trim while in game and in flight, or some planes can only be trimmed in test flight (simulates you testing after mechanic sets trim) One control i didn't cover in this video is "trimmers fixation" which is the control you need for setting trim in test flight.
Hope that makes sense.
@@T_BG_TRRR thank you so much that really helped me
idk why but my plane goes to the left and i can't do anything about it
Increase the multiplier for yaw axis
Noticed halfway through the video I was under the Simplified controls not full real, does it matter?
I dont think it would matter. Full real just adds a couple features like engine management and trim etc. so settings and overall layout will be the same.
Just me or are some of my settings missing? Might have changed
Yes, unfortunately Gaijin have needlessly changed the name of things and also added more control options which makes this more difficult. Ive been thinking about doing a new video but not sure
Man I tried this shit now I’m spending hours trying to fix all my controls
Man just what the fuck was this bullshit. Seriously now I’m on controller and don’t understand any of these setting and I didn’t play on the standards shits literally gonna make my head explode

I'm confused, did the changes, got into arcade and plane didn't respond at all.... wth had to go back to simplified sigh
Damn, im not sure why it wouldnt work. Make sure everything is the same. Glad your sorted bud, youre doing it the right way fa sho
Nevermind i figured it out had to do with the trimming also i dont have to reset the controls anymore
@@T_BG_TRRR got it. The trimming fixed all the problems but i will try the SAS mode if its even better.
Dumb question here but I need to ask. Will a PS4 controller work on the PC version of War Thunder?
Yeah man, you could even use your keyboard with it too!! I think all you need is a USB cable to connect the controller to your PC but dont take my word for it as you may need software. Its definitely possible though!! Using a PS4 controller and keyboard combination is good
Is it possible to replicate flying settings from Battlefield 4 or 5? I'm very good with the Battlefield settings but with all the options in WarThunder I don't know if I can replicate it
Im sure you probably could but im not sure how effective it would be
Also, it depends.
Nonlinearity is essentially your stick length, higher nonlinearity makes your stick movement a little less twitchy by making the game think your on a 25cm stick rather than 5cm stick (for example, if that makes sense) Just have a mess around with those two settings as well as your overall sensitivity but stick length on controller is a factor to account for
My settings work well for me with the stick length we have on controllers. So maybe copy my settings and the adjust them to suit you. Either higher or lower
However, adjustments made to make your controls more sensitive might be detrimental to your accuracy with guns.
I am in the process of doing an update to this video with a few added things now i have time off work
FYI - Check the comment i pinned for pitch, roll and rudder settings as well as video. The comment is an update from a couple weeks after i uploaded this
@@T_BG_TRRR ok thanks I will try whenever I log on
Bro my settings don’t look the same “main control access wtf is thay
Yeah man, rather than fixing actual issues with the game, Gaijin decide to make changes to things that are fine. The menu needed a bit of work however they changed the names of many things which makes things difficult for people like you. Did you manage to figure it out?
I can't take any plane off because they just go left for no reason
Nonlinearity, multiplier and correction are most important i think but the main one is multiplier at 0.99 and it should work
Engine management isnt really important but it does help if you know how to use it, especially in certain planes but irrelevant to jets i think.
You know if you play sim battles or use full real control in game, your plane doesn't want to fly straight because the wings are trying to lift and the torque from the engine and twist of the props make the plane always bank over to one side. You can 'trim' your plane while flying so you can fly level without much stick input. Real life pilots set their aircraft trim while flying
Just search 'aircraft trim' and you will understand.
@@T_BG_TRRR ohh yeah yeah i know what are u saying, i think i get it now.
btw one more thing, idk why but on my screen i have some rare borders like a white circle, that circle of full rear control, i dont know how to turn it off
Ok it seems you over complicate things here, my son wants tp have everything in 3rd person set
can you help us......need to explain a bit more move for move
Everything can still be used in 3rd person. Triangle, on the controller is 'change view'.
FYI, this is more of a simulator control set up (which is fine) but simulator battles in WT doesn't allow 3rd person really. So i assume you play 'Realistic Battles'?- there may be a better control set up for you to use other than mine to be honest.
Explain movement with what?
Doing god work 😇

Man, i don't know what is happening, in war simulator battles i cant control the airplane, but in the arcade mode i can

Im not sure why that is happening and im sure it automatically switches to 'full real control' when you join sim

@@luc_br_7845 I deleted WT and redownloaded it recently so i know some thing in the menu arent exactly the same as when i did this video. As long as you can control your plane then the only thing i can think is 'trim'. Are you trimming your plane as you fly?
I will be doing a new video and one to do with my graphics settings for spotting enemy targets soon
I wish they change the base setting on the new update new power
You mean they fix their standard control set up? I doubt they would bud. Maybe tanks but aircraft controls are pretty diverse depending on the person and how they like to play.
I dont remember the standard control set up but im sure it could use work.
I remember when i very first started to play WT and i set my controls, got in game and i couldn't even take off. It was due to settings like nonlinearity, multiplier ect. and i had to watch a video to fix the settings lol So i kinda remember they arent great, or maybe it was my fault for wiping everything and putting my own set up in. @@T_BG_TRRR Yea the base control sucks you can't even pull up but i think they will since they will have to configure it to the next gen console
@@T_BG_TRRR Yea i should talk in the forums
This was extremely useful, thanks
But i have a question: I tried with different planes, and it automatically veers to one side, either left or right.
