You don't necessarily need a MacBook, there are other similar softwares. Any budget windows laptop capable of running the software would do. Also you can connect your E443 to PC via MIDI cable (printer cable or USB type B), enable keyboard out and PC mode in the function and get better virtual tones on the software. So what you play gets processed by the software and it'll use the downloaded voices not the one on the Yamaha E443
@@vervetech9395 pls I’m in a similar situation how do I connect it properly I have a H.p spectre laptop how do I connect it to my E433 keyboard which software I use and also can I get your email?? Or number
1. Midi cable (USB type B to USB A or C depending on your PC) 2. Get a DAW, AU software like Mix Craft, FL studio. 3. Get a VST Instrument software from the internet like Lounge Lizard, Velvet, Neo-soul Suitcase, Keyscape. 5. Open the DAW software (I use mix craft), load the VST Instrument using the DAW software but there are some VSTs like Lounge Lizard which allows you to open directly without a DAW software. 5. Download Yamaha drivers for E series keyboards (that's if the VST software doesn't detect your keyboard in the setup).
Looks great, and your sounds are awesome! I did want to share that whenever possible, it is very important to run an external audio interface. I use the Focusrite Pro24. The reason I place such importance on this is that when I use the headphone jack as a stereo output, I experience crossbleeding between the left and right channels, i.e. my click bleeds into the channel the congregation hears. The cheap Realtek sound cards on Macs can't always handle the simple task of keeping the stereo channels separate.
Would it be possible for you to develop worship essentials for pc users? I’m aware that there are many pc users that want to purchase worship essentials but cannot due to the incompatibility!
For my setup, I've been using Yamaha 's PSR S770 for the last few years. This is an incredible piece of hardware that includes wonderful software in it. It wasn't cheap, but is one of the finest arranger keyboards around. Is you need more software it can be bought from Yamaha or developer made software can be had for free from places such as PSR Tutorial. I also use a sustain pedal and an effects pedal. If I need to sing with my music I use a good quality wireless lavalier mic. Further, I'm using a used Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2" with MobileSheets Pro to store, display, and organize my sheet music, plus an AirTurn Ped to do page turning. With this setup I have the ability to play full, live orchestration without any other equipment for medium to small rooms. For large rooms I use whatever sound equipmentis is available or that I can rent. This is a masterful, extremely powerful setup that is still expanding for me, and within the financial limits you've set here. God bless you my friend.
Great info as always, Jake! I'm itching to check out some of those worship patches! Here's a midi keyboard recommendation for anyone looking to get started in this area. I recently picked up a Novation Launchkey 49 (Note: You can also get this keyboard in 25 or 61 key versions). It's only $199.00, and it not only has the 49 key, semi-weighted keyboard... it also has pitch and modulation wheels, transpose buttons (+ or - octave), so changing keys is a breeze, a 16 pad, color assignable "launchpad" style loop control section (for triggering and stopping 8 different loops or samples), each with it's own fader for individual control of volume (even on the fly), and mine came with a free version of Albleton Live Lite (so you can get started with Ableton and familiarize yourself with the software, with which it works flawlessly). It's a USB unit, so of course, a dedicated laptop is required.
I use a Donner DEP 20. 88 key weighted keys for $355 and it actually has some really good on board speakers, and it comes with a great sustain pedal. I think it is an amazing deal for under 400$ if you are looking for something that you can plug into a computer or use by itself. Anyone looking for an affordable keyboard I promise you wont go wrong with it.
Great video! Got my M-Audio Hammer-88 about a week ago and I'm so impressed with it's built quality for the price, it's bit on the heavy side for travel but the touch and built quality is superb. I'm using the Hammer-88 also with Mainstage on an upgraded late 2012 i7 Mac Mini with 16Gb Corsair Vengeance ram and 512Gb SSD harddrive, and the same patches as per your video. The Hammer-88 fits perfectly into Roland - CB-88RL gig bag as it's the same size as a Roland 300NX. The mod and pitch wheels are very smooth. Tested Pianoteq6 demo, oh my, this piano VSTi took the Hammer-88 to the next level. There's a lots of questions about the feel of the Hammer-88, I've played on a couple of Yamaha and Roland stage pianos and this really beats them by far. Sturdy keys, a tad spongy, but not so that it's unpleasant or feeling laggy. Once you setup your velocity to your liking this is something to be hard to beat.
Hi. Thanks for sharing this wonderful tips. I am not a keyboardist myself, but I would like to know if M-Audio Oxygen 88 can also be used in this setup for our church. Thanks.
Jake. Can you recommend a web page that explains how to setup MainStage in the more simple setup such as three presets.Perhaps using as an example a piano; a organ, and a synth? Most help I can find seems to start simple and then expands to an elaborate setup. I just want to get a simple set done and then use. Once familiar then I can work on learning the next level.

Thank you Jake for all you do for the Kingdom. I have a problem I need help with. I have a Korg Krome 88 key workstation.and a Akai MK II controlle and a Dell laptop running Windows 10. What music program would you recommend? Now my problem... I'm a dinosaur I'm 57 years old and much of the terminology may as well be Greek to me. I need teaching on a beginner's level. Where do I begin? I'm not stuck in the ice age as far as style preference goes. In fact my favorite song right now is Rattle. Thanks for any guidance you can give.
Hey brother. I love your content. I wanted to do this with my 2016 MacBook Air but it’s not allowing me to download MainStage because I need at least 13.5 system update, but this laptop is too old for that I think. Any solutions other than spending a ton on a new laptop?
Hey Jake, thanks for that info, super helpful. I am curious if you could expound a little more on how mainstage interacts with Ableton live? It looks like theyre running from seperate computers? How do they link together for it to know when to tell Mainstage to trigger different patches? Thanks
The only concern for me is not using an actual USB audio interface instead of a stereo split cable. Use a $150-$200 audio interface from Focusrite or M-Audio and the sound quality is much better. In addition, you won't get all the computer sounds coming through the headphone jack like email and text tones or accidental incoming calls and facetime. Using an interface bypasses these so it is much safer to use. Other than that, extremely helpful video
I just opened a new church. And my budget isn't big. And now I'm looking for an audio system, but I have no knowledge or understanding about this matter. I would like to start with Keyboard first Can you please help me what do I need to buy?
Other commenters have mentioned how the price goes definately goes up when adding Omnisphere and upgrading the Mac. BUT short of the full bells and whistles, speaking as a sound guy, PLEASE, PLEASE spend ~$100 on a usb audio interface. If you have balanced outputs, you won't need a direct box. Just xlr>TRS adapters which are very cheap and a better solution.
I agree - I use a FocusRite Scarlett 2i/2 audio interface ($149 retail, less used). In our setup we have 2 mono outs to FOH (1 for keys, 1 for pads). So I send keys, electric piano, organ from the Nord mono to the keys channel and Nord pads out channel 3 to the input of the audio interface. That gets combined with the Mainstage sounds from the laptop going thru the audio interface out the pads channel.
Yea, so recently, I got worship essentials and mainstage hooked up into my controller, but if you hit the keys hard enough, it will clip some of the audio. What do I need to do to fix this problem?
We use Yamaha PSR E453 keyboard in our church. Basically, we only layer two sounds. A piano and strings to create a different ambience. We haven't tried using softwares like Mainstage or Ableton in worship. Guess i have to upgrade. Lol.
Great stuff. I still hate how Apple driven most of the info is. The truth is that most (around 82%) of the computers in the world are PC, not MAC. I've used both, and personally hate Apples approach to software. But to each their own. I would love to see more PC based options covered.
I haven't had any issues with the audio card on the MacBook Air. If I run into issues I'll get an interface, but since we've been using it for the past few months and it's working fine, I'd rather just stick with the DI box.
Would you happen to know a software for pc users? If not then my only option would be to get a keyboard synthesizer and probably will get the roland juno ds61.
I am the main sound guy. we have Yamaha Tyros 5 but our keyboardist wants to try Mainstage 3. I thought tyros has everything in sound wise. Do you think Mainstage is really better than Tyros 5?
Hi, Jake! Love this concept but do you know how to do it with an iPad? And if so, what app/interface would you use? Outfitting my keyboard players with a Macbook might be a stretch but everyone has iPad's available. It's be cool to find an audio interface to plug the keyboard in that has an audio out to go to DI and then an app that'll model the same instruments as Main Stage would... Ideas??? Thanks for all the videos, keep up the great work!
I'm not aware of any iPad app that can produce MainStage quality sounds. But I'll definitely keep and eye out and make a video about it if I come across one!
ummm.. you can try the Korg Module app.. I think it cost 30 dollars on the app store. It has a bunch of sounds from some of korgs flagship keyboards. Might be something you can check out. You cant layer the sounds or create patches but it does have some pre-installed patches that have piano and strings layered already along with others. just a FYI.. gb!! PS-going to need an apple usb camera connect adapter to go from midi keyboard to ipad/iphone and out through headphone jack and into DI box.
Thanks for the share. We have a Behringer x32 mixer but I don’t feel we’re getting the most out of it as we still learning. I’m looking to get mainstage. Is there a way I could get the most out of the mixer? So, if I load sound patches? from mainstage to the keyboard and the mixer isn’t set/tuned “properly” I may not appreciate the nice sounds. How can I say set the mixer for my keyboard alone in order to get the most out of mainstage and the mixer? I don’t know if my question makes sense. I don’t want the mixer to be a bottle neck after investing in mainstage. Finally, what cable do I use with mainstage? Is there a standard cable? Thanks and God bless
Quick question, do you recommend the Roland Juno ds88 synthesizer for a small church that has a drum and bass player? The money doesn't matter. Please let me know.. thank you
Hey Jake! I loved tour video! I'm thinking to buy the Roland go-keys, its very affordable and has great built-in sounds, but I really dont know if go midi with it to get sounds from my laptop. Did you henar scout this Roland? Any thoughts?
And I recommend using this interface - www.amazon.com/Peavey-3001370-USB-Audio-Interface/dp/B004A4PSEU/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1535467599&sr=8-3&keywords=peavey+audio+interface You will connect the interface to your laptop via usb. Then out of the interface you can go from the XLR outputs to your sound system. Your keyboard will take up two channels on your mixer so it's stereo. hope that helps!
I guess I'm a little confused how it all works. I play keys (not a midi controller) now which is direct to the house speakers via a snake. Can I just connect my MacBook (with MainStage) to my keys as is, and play like that? OR do I require a midi controller to use my MacBook, and connect my MacBook to the house speakers directly, via a audio interface? Or us a regular DI okay?
How’s it going Jake so I have a question... so at our church we are running switcher studio our sound sounds good in church live but through switcher studio I can’t really hear my keyboard do you have an feedback on what I need to fix that thanks
Hello bro! What’s the difference between worship essentials 2 and worship essentials plus 2? :) trying to buy the one that will work the best! Thank you!!!
I'm a guitarist and vocalist myself and I was wondering what piece of equipment I need to have pads playing in the background that I would have full controll of during the gig. Unfortunately it's just me in the team at the moment. Could you advise?
@@josephjustin7508 I have the 49 key version. I like the feel of it. The pads are ok but seem like you need to hit them just right if you are trying play drums. Other than that it's a good controller for church. It comes with free software also but I use it with sample tank on an iPad, PC with mixcraft, or my Android phone with Audio Evolution.
I know this is kind of a stupid question, but would you recommend MainStage 3 pianos, pads, sounds, etc. over say a roland juno series or a yamaha dgx series workstation? I just recently set up a MainStage rig at my church and it sounds amazing to me, even my wife thinks it sounds beautiful. I got the addictive keys plug-in and the pads and strings on MainStage sound dope. I even bought Celebration Essentials online (should deff check it out) and I feel like this rig sounds so professional compared to the workstation we had, like I have more control over the sound I want. But I've been getting negative feedback like what if the laptop somehow fails (which it never has), what if you're ever not here it seems to complicated blah blah blah. Thoughts? Comments?
@@Churchfront the Mac were using is my Mac not the church's. But they have a very nice hp that I will be setting up an ableton rig for that I learned from your channel, so thank you for that. I just wanted another opinion.
Wow!!! This is so beautiful!!! I want to buy it for sure. JUst one question: Oce i get it will I be able to use this piano sound in garage band as well? Thank you!

Why did you move from Sunday Sounds with their mainstage template to that worship sound worship essentials? Are the patches from each (and from multitracks) interchangeable if I was using the Sunday Sounds template? Also Ur blog had me heading toward the hammer 88, but I have also seen the keystation 88 ii. Thoughts?

Hello Jake praise the Lord 😇 Need some of your help can you please tell us that the macbook air 2018 with a core i5 dual core processor 8 gb Ram along with 128 gb Disk space will run the mainstage (latest version) without latency ??

And I hope you are able to help me out as you have quite some experience in the hobby. Which Keyboard(s) should I aim for to reach the same quality? That way the songs I have created will sound good as well.
if you want stereo you need 2, so essentially if you use one and it is a stereo/panning sound it will be lacking as when ever it is in the right it wont be there unless you somehow make the audio mono.
Hey bro. Thnx for informative video. I am a worship leader but plays guitar. Recently switched to the keys. However, the keyboard i have is inexpensive thats doesnt sound pro. Well, i have thinking over to buy the setup you suggested. Just a query, what about latency issue?is DI is mendatory or audio interface is needed? Plz help
Hey Jake, Like you, I am a worship leader and guitar player. Since the laptop is making the sound, is that what you would have to plug into the snake? Thanks
Yes. You can go from the headphone jack on the computer to a DI box to the snake. Or you could use a usb audio interface from the computer and to the snake from that.

Hey brother. I love your content. I wanted to do this with my 2016 MacBook Air but it’s not allowing me to download MainStage because I need at least 13.5 system update, but this laptop is too old for that I think. Any solutions other than spending a ton on a new laptop?
we use roland GW8 workstation
Love this video man! The tips are definitely something i might use 🙏
Thanks Phillip!
Hey Jake, thanks for that info, super helpful. I am curious if you could expound a little more on how mainstage interacts with Ableton live? It looks like theyre running from seperate computers? How do they link together for it to know when to tell Mainstage to trigger different patches? Thanks
Hey Jake. How could I set this up for my Yamaha PSR-S910?
The only concern for me is not using an actual USB audio interface instead of a stereo split cable. Use a $150-$200 audio interface from Focusrite or M-Audio and the sound quality is much better. In addition, you won't get all the computer sounds coming through the headphone jack like email and text tones or accidental incoming calls and facetime. Using an interface bypasses these so it is much safer to use. Other than that, extremely helpful video
I just opened a new church. And my budget isn't big. And now I'm looking for an audio system, but I have no knowledge or understanding about this matter.
I would like to start with Keyboard first
Can you please help me what do I need to buy?
Lol.
I was wondering. Would it be possible to use an iPad instead of a laptop?!
Great stuff. I still hate how Apple driven most of the info is. The truth is that most (around 82%) of the computers in the world are PC, not MAC. I've used both, and personally hate Apples approach to software. But to each their own. I would love to see more PC based options covered.
Windows users can use Ableton live! :)
But not mainstage
Hi, its very informative bro.. btw, do we need an audio interface or just connect the keyboard to macbook air with mainstage is ok?
Thanks for the Tips! Is there a reason you don't use an audio interface? In my opinion it's essential and more practical.
I haven't had any issues with the audio card on the MacBook Air. If I run into issues I'll get an interface, but since we've been using it for the past few months and it's working fine, I'd rather just stick with the DI box.
Where is the Lead worship with ableton link?
Nord stage 2
Thank you for this
Godbless😊❤️
Would you happen to know a software for pc users? If not then my only option would be to get a keyboard synthesizer and probably will get the roland juno ds61.
At my home I have the Korg Triton Pro-76 keys. and At church there is A Korg Krome-88 keys
I am the main sound guy. we have Yamaha Tyros 5 but our keyboardist wants to try Mainstage 3. I thought tyros has everything in sound wise. Do you think Mainstage is really better than Tyros 5?
I have a studiologic numa 2 compact keyboard...... can it be used as a midi controller?
I have it, use it and love it!
truly what i need, thanks so much!
Hello my keyboard is Yamaha psr32 how to set it for worship & praise
Thanks for very much, sir what are stuffs may I need so that I can transfer the pad sound on my phone to the keyboard.
Thank you
Can you try M audio Hammer 88 to android instead of a Laptop?
How can i get the plaucking for the worship
Quick question, do you recommend the Roland Juno ds88 synthesizer for a small church that has a drum and bass player? The money doesn't matter.
Please let me know.. thank you
Hey Jake! I loved tour video! I'm thinking to buy the Roland go-keys, its very affordable and has great built-in sounds, but I really dont know if go midi with it to get sounds from my laptop. Did you henar scout this Roland? Any thoughts?
Wish you would put the hardware requirements to connect MacBook in the description box...a big hard to get all the information down.
All of the gear is listed in my worship ministry toolkit! But I'll list them in the desciption too
And I recommend using this interface - www.amazon.com/Peavey-3001370-USB-Audio-Interface/dp/B004A4PSEU/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1535467599&sr=8-3&keywords=peavey+audio+interface
You will connect the interface to your laptop via usb.
MAudio Hammer 88 - $390 - Amazon
Ableton Live Standard - $337 - ableton.com
MacBook Air 8gb- $850 - Amazon
MainStage 3 - $30 - Apple
Total - $1607
I can't afford the flagship, so I usually get the row boat. If I'm lucky I can get the jet ski. Currently I use the Yamaha MX88.
This is great only the thing is I don't like, I'm windows do you have any alternatives to mainstage?
Try Ableton! I have another video on this. Search Ableton Live worship keyboard setup
What type of tablet or computer do you have?
What’s the meaning of MIDI keyboard?
Hi Jake . What's your opinion about Novation midi keyboards?
Those are awesome
Can I use Novation Launch key 61 MK II for church worship?
@@josephjustin7508
I have the 49 key version. I like the feel of it. The pads are ok but seem like you need to hit them just right if you are trying play drums. Other than that it's a good controller for church. It comes with free software also but I use it with sample tank on an iPad, PC with mixcraft, or my Android phone with Audio Evolution.
My previous comment should have started with. This is my humble opinion based on my experience and is based on my needs at the time
I know this is kind of a stupid question, but would you recommend MainStage 3 pianos, pads, sounds, etc. over say a roland juno series or a yamaha dgx series workstation? I just recently set up a MainStage rig at my church and it sounds amazing to me, even my wife thinks it sounds beautiful. I got the addictive keys plug-in and the pads and strings on MainStage sound dope. I even bought Celebration Essentials online (should deff check it out) and I feel like this rig sounds so professional compared to the workstation we had, like I have more control over the sound I want. But I've been getting negative feedback like what if the laptop somehow fails (which it never has), what if you're ever not here it seems to complicated blah blah blah. Thoughts? Comments?
I for sure think Mainstage is the better way to go. If you’re not there can’t they just use the keyboard?
@@Churchfront the Mac were using is my Mac not the church's. But they have a very nice hp that I will be setting up an ableton rig for that I learned from your channel, so thank you for that. I just wanted another opinion.
Wow!!! This is so beautiful!!! I want to buy it for sure. JUst one question: Oce i get it will I be able to use this piano sound in garage band as well? Thank you!
I use a Roland Fa07
thanks you so much brother 👏
Hello jake How bless you. I been see. Yo,re videos using mainn stage 3. Im really interesting. I have copu quetions. How can i comunicated wit you so you can help me please. GOD BLESS YOU AGAIN
What are some ideas for Windows users?
Why did you move from Sunday Sounds with their mainstage template to that worship sound worship essentials? Are the patches from each (and from multitracks) interchangeable if I was using the Sunday Sounds template?
Also Ur blog had me heading toward the hammer 88, but I have also seen the keystation 88 ii. Thoughts?
How do you use it live through the sound system? @churchfront
This helps so much!
I'm the minister of music at my church I play the Hammond organ and on the top of the organ I have one Yamaha mm6 pain on the right side of the organ I have a second Yamaha mm6 on a keyboard stand
How do you like the Hammer 88? It looks great for the price but have never been able to try one out.
We like it a lot. It’s actually bigger than what we need. If I could do it again I’d probably get an Akai keyboard
I've got an AKAI MPK261 right now which I really like but wish I had the hammer weighted keys for playing actual piano parts
Where did you find main stage and why do I need both?
Does it work for Windows 10?
Nice!
Do you think that it is possible to run mainstage with a 2015 macbook air with only 4gb of ram? (I don't mind about using only 1 patch at a time)
I have my yamaha mx66 so how do i can set up
Can someone help me? What laptop should I purchase then? A pro? Would a windows be better ?
Can i use a mini Mac in lieu of the Mac air book?
how do i connect my worship essentials to my speaker ?? i don’t want the sound to come out of my computer
Hi Jake
What D.I box do I need to connect my laptop to the FOH mixer .... passive or active ?
Thanks
how much sir? thanks, I want to have one for our church.. from Philippines. thank you and God bless
oh bro. how i love your advices, but still macbook is expensive here in the Philippines.
thanks
Have you tried running macOS on a pc? It can be a big help if you don’t want to pay$$$ for a Mac.
M-Audio oxygen
Hello Jake
praise the Lord 😇
Need some of your help
can you please tell us that the macbook air 2018 with a core i5 dual core processor 8 gb Ram along with 128 gb Disk space will run the mainstage (latest version) without latency ??
Hey there, I wish I had reached out to you earlier. I did a mistake and bought the CTK-3500. But I need a Keyboard that matches the sound of virtualpiano.net . And I hope you are able to help me out as you have quite some experience in the hobby. Which Keyboard(s) should I aim for to reach the same quality? That way the songs I have created will sound good as well.
Do you really need two XLR cable to the snake?
Can I just use 1?
And for the 3.5mm xlr can i use just one or does it have to have 2 ends?
if you want stereo you need 2, so essentially if you use one and it is a stereo/panning sound it will be lacking as when ever it is in the right it wont be there unless you somehow make the audio mono.
Arturia Keymod 88
Plz help
I would recommend the audio interface for stability.
Hey Jake,
Like you, I am a worship leader and guitar player. Since the laptop is making the sound, is that what you would have to plug into the snake?
Thanks
Yes. You can go from the headphone jack on the computer to a DI box to the snake. Or you could use a usb audio interface from the computer and to the snake from that.
Thanks Jake!
