      A word of warning and clarification, the "Lifetime" deal is only for preset/overlay filters... use of Generative AI (background removal, etc) expires in one year and reverts back to a subscription model. Please edit and update your video or text to reflect this overlooked detail.

      Good question! As you saw it positively selects the object but there's the option in masking to invert the selection. So I don't see why not. I'll have a play around and see.

    Your tutorial presents it so easy. But when I tried to enhance the selection of remover background id doesn't work at all, nothing changes in effect. But of course the brush paints what I want. Only never change the transition selection, or object, nor background. Is it the way how it works in trial version only? Mine is trial. Desapointing result, must say. 😞

      Not sure but I wouldn't think there would be a difference between the code in trial vs full version. I find the results really good and pretty reliable so if it's not working as you'd expect Id reach out to the Skylum helpdesk.

    Hey man. Great videos. I have a question so we always get updates to the app right? And those updates are a few GB of data. Does all that just keep adding up to where by next year luminar neo is 150gb big? Or do the old updates erase? Also does anyone else have the problem selecting multiple pictures to export after editing and it takes about 3 hours to export 30 photos? Running on a new MacBook pro m1

    • @AnthonyTurnham
      @AnthonyTurnham  2 года назад +1

      Hi Mate, those updates just do a clean over the top update. They don't add up over time.
      With regards to export times. I've not experienced anything that slow before, however, the final processing is all done on the back end which keeps the use of the tools feeling lighter during the editing phase. This is great during editing but the downside is potentially longer export times. Maybe try reaching out to Skylum support for some help?

      The white fringing is the white fur illuminated by the back light of the sun. When compositing it's always best to match light direction anyway, but if you did want to remove that part of the object just use the refine mask brush to exclude it from the selection.

      If you're asking if Luminar NEO is better than Adobe Photoshop, the answer is "Depends, but probably not." NEO is amazingly good at what it does, and super easy to learn, but in ultimate power, little or nothing beats PS.
      So for people new to photo editing, or for pro/semi pro use speeding up your workflow, Luminar NEO is pure gold.
      However if your livelyhood is editing front pages for National Geographics or extending the frontpage lifetime of some has been supermodel, I'd probably stick with Photoshop.

      RUclips doesn't allow sample files to be attached. So, in any event, Luminar works pretty well at removing cluttered backgrounds, in both portrait and landscape. It's relatively easy to replace a background with say a wall, garden setting etc - anything that is straight up or down, but replacing with a path for eg, something to give the background some depth and perspective and context is much harder. Finding a suitable photo for use as a background in those situations on the web is impossible, unless you have other advice. Cheers and thanks again. Ed

    EXCELLENT, your info is spot on always! I don't know if this subject has been covered by you or not, that is SHARE a photo that you have removed the background to a Folder or a Device? Doing a Background Remove grays out the options to Share the image (on my PC). Maybe I am doing something wrong but this is how I found to make the SHARE work to a FOLDER or a Device that I can then use the photo with any other software.
    After you have removed the background from a photo, I had to add a LAYER (any layer) to the photo. Now change the Layer OPACITY to 0. Now you can Share the photo as a .PNG file to a folder or to a device such as a phone.
    I am not sure why Skylum decided not to let you Share the photo after doing a Background Removal? Am I doing something wrong or did I find the magic way to Share a .PNG file with a Background Removed? Thanks for your great YT vids, David

    I love Luminar Neo and would like to have these extensions but at $200+ per they would break the bank. I purchased Luminar soon after it came out and have been a loyal customer because it was far cheaper and far easier to use than Photoshop. But over the years Luminar has been sneaking in updates, upgrades, packs and extensions and they are beginning to look more and more like Photoshop in terms of reaching into my wallet. It feels like Luminar has been playing me -- sucking me in at a reasonable price only to make me pay more later on. That's sad to see and I'm not liking their business model. So I guess I'll drool over the expensive extensions and contend myself with what I've already purchased from them. Have fun with their new stuff.
