    I made this video during the comp yesterday and uploaded it 20 minutes after the stone-off but RUclips had a glitch and it did not process it for another 4 hours when everyone was already asleep😒 Let me know your final predictions!

    I don't care as much about WSM anymore because they don't seem to care about us. They only cater to the casual watchers. They don't let us watch live, have lighter events, less transparency, and too much effort to follow. I watch creators' recaps but that's it now. The other shows are far better now imo (Shaw, Rogue, Arnold). I think that's why no one is attending or paying attention.

      Yeah, it's for the causal tv audience, not the fanbase.

    I agree with most of those points. It was great when WSM took place all over the world, I'd love to see one take place in the Highlands of Scotland or Iceland. Viking press looked kind of lame.

    Thanks for the table of all 30 athletes without the groups. It's nice to see that only two of the top ten overall did not make the finals, and the lowest ranking finalist was 13th overall. That shows that the groups were actually fairly well balanced this year (for a change).

    I’m disappointed that Mitch and Ondrej made agreements rather than going all out in every event. In the end this benefitted Mitch as Ondrej had potential to win this group. Again this will tarnish a WSM win. What’s your thoughts? Ondrej could’ve won the group if he finished 2 points ahead of Mitch on the car walk!(unlikely but still worth trying). Now he’s not in the final.

    • @MattRhodesSport
      @MattRhodesSport  28 дней назад +1

      I also heard they did that, did Mitch say so himself or who confirmed it? I agree with you, I'm, 100% against any type of tactical agreements amongst athletes, it's cleary not correct to fix outcomes in sports.

      @Andy.g79 28 дней назад

      @@MattRhodesSport On Eddie Hall's yt channel his first video reviewing the results of event 1 stone walk and the car walk video he mentions it. Also Loz and Liz talk about it on their latest video the final 10. Just seen Mitch does mention it in his day 1 video.

    • @Andy.g79
      @Andy.g79 28 дней назад +1

      I understand they don’t want to ruin their hands on the stone carry plus saving energy for the final, but this tactic only works out if you make it to the final which Ondrej didn’t, so more fool Ondrej for not giving it his all and pushing Mitch more.

    • @Andy.g79
      @Andy.g79 28 дней назад

      Mitch talks a little more about it in his day 2 video, justifies it by saying if rules allow it and others need to conserve effort for the stone off etc, basically saying if rules were different they wouldn’t do it so I understand why they do it as it stands.

  • @cattycats4
    @cattycats4 29 дней назад

    I think they need to change the groups into one big qualifying group, theres a few things that dont sit right currently that would be solved by not having separate groups:
    Athletes deciding to draw events to save energy Fotju and Hooper twice and Hollands and Shaw in past WSM, both times one of the athletes got knocked out in the stone off when they couldve won the group, its not good for TV and its never a good idea when only one athlete is guaranteed to qualify, saving energy in one event is never a good trade for competing in a stone off.
    Stone off is unfair extra work, instead have all athletes compete in a 6th event which is the same as the stone off but a 8 stone run for time and not vs another athlete
    Athletes would get more credit for outstanding performance rather than just being in an unlucky group and finishing 4th when they wouldve been 4th out of 30 and not just 4th out of 6 for theoretical example
    Any potential favouritism like easy groups would also be out of the window
    Would love to see T Rex win

    WSM is a competition in decline. Poor events, lack of investment and promotion and stale format. Not to mention the event happening but not being made mainstream for months. Much better competitions like the Arnold and Shaw that promote the sport better and have better events and format. The only thing that keeps it relevant is it's event name. Somone should buy it.

    • @CommandoG331
      @CommandoG331 28 дней назад +1

      @@MattRhodesSport 8 weeks it's still absurd isn't it. An event of this stature should be live or released pretty quickly. There was a time where everyone was interested to see who the strongest person in the world was. It wouldn't be hard with the right people at the helm to give this event some prestige. It'll be too late then anyways, as we've agreed, other ventures have now overtaken it. Some athletes don't even put their names forward for it. It's on borrowed time. The actual filing of it is so dates too. That camera angle where the athletes have to stand still after they've just finished an event whilst the cameras is in their face, what the fook is that all about. That's been the same for as long as I can remember. Idiotic.

    • @MattRhodesSport
      @MattRhodesSport  28 дней назад +7

      You make no sense. Building bleachers and one location is not 'more like a comp'. A true comp is all vs all. No novelty stone off. A wide spread of event types and more events. The best in the world all there competing. Timing with lasers. Consistent judging. Hope you learnt something.

      @@MattRhodesSport a comp has nothing to do with scenery and everything to do with good events, athletes treated well, a solid perfect stage. Which is what they got. It's a big step forward. Sure it's not perfect, but there is clearly progress

    • @MattRhodesSport
      @MattRhodesSport  28 дней назад +5

      @@bronchoped I just explained to you what makes a good comp. Why are you then so confused about scenery? You are the one saying the 2 are somehow related. Do you realise there can be a professional comp and the great scenery for tv? Both are possible you know when the richest media company in the world own it and previously they managed to do both... Athletes are not treated well, why do you think many declined invites? Rauno just posted that the mats sunk into the sand ruining the car walk. So few are calling this progress.
