Not only does she have chops, technique rhythmic resilience, fluid phrasing and lyricism to spare, but Melissa Aldana also gets amazing tone out of her horn.
Reminds me of when wayne shorter was playing in front of the band in lincoln center..all the guys in the band were looking and smiling in appreciation..melissa is the new generation with all the members in the band smiling!!!
The amount of cork showing does not necessarily indicate anything since repair techs often add longer corks when they replace them. Measuring the distance from the register hole on the neck would be more meaningful.
I love her old school sound and the melodious nature of her improvisation. The low Bb and C arpeggio figures get really tiresome though in the end as she does it all the time. Ok she can play the bottom end of the horn. Overuse of the same idea gets a bit boring. Just saying.
The saxophone section knows what’s up. Phenomenal playing...just wow.
Some more appreciative than others....nevertheless she is splendid!
Besides being phenomenal. This really took me totally.

she’s gotta be one of the best tenor players on the scene now
Magnificent. Beautiful fluid tone on top of everything else.

@@platez81 who can you think of that's so much better?
not just technically, but in terms of the end result as well
I heard her play and she squealed at least 10 times and sounded airy
@@lazer8106Counting squeaks? That's an interesting hobby.
That sound is just so pure and amazing. She has a soft touch yet very expressive and out there when she wants to get loud, awesome job
Amazing!! One of the best saxophonist around. Pure joy and story telling.

Such a wonderful and genuine talent. Will love seeing her career blossom.
There is no better saxophone solo on the worldwide web.

2:33 - "Meu coração..."
Very Very Nice
felt that alto players smile at 1:46 haha
Beautiful tone with great technique. Lots of cork showing on the neck, interestingly unusual.
