The thing that sets them apart from the other new groups doing the Y2K/R&B thing is that with XG it doesn’t feel forced. Like this isn’t just the company saying, “hey this genre is in trend so do this” R&B/HipHop is in their core identity! They listen to it in the car and in their free time, just look at the artists they are naming. We’ve NEVER heard the other girlies mention those names. I feel a level of genuineness from them that I don’t get with the other groups and that’s no shade. These girls are gonna go far and they have my full support 🫶🏾
And the girls actually love and listen to R&B music too. That’s why it feels so good and natural when they do it. Like I don’t think a lot of K-pop idols even know who Lauryn Hill and Aaliyah are. But these girls do and that’s impressive
@@idkyouho exactly! You get it. I've NEVER heard any other idols mention them before and that's how I knew it was real. They studied the greats and you can tell. It's not forced, these are people that they grew up listening to and still listen to 🔥

Right. This group is so well concepted by the company, and the most important thing is that the girls are actually enjoying it. They've been training since 2017, i guess that time they started to know the 90s R&B and hiphop, so definitely they don't just suddenly jump on the trend, but they've been preparing to this for a long time. I'm so excited to see more of their works.

@@inspiritGalaxy language has never been an issue for me, if it sounds good then it sounds good, but their songs being in English does make it a little easier to memorize the lyrics which is nice i guess

The fact they named Aaliyah makes me appreciate them even more, if that was possible. And Lauryn Hill? These were artists I had on replay when I was in high school back in the late 90's early 00's (yes, I'm that old). So glad to see them begin to gain more recognition. I knew they were special from the beginning .
I still love Aaliyah so much, that really moved me to hear them say her name.

OMG when they started singing Scrubs by TLC and mentioned Aaliyah Lauren Hill, I got goosebumps and just went back in time, they really know about Soul,R&B,HipHop, Aaliyah was the Y2K style queen back in the day and when I see these perform they do remind me of the R&B of TLC,Blaque,SWV,En Vogue and the POP of Spice Girls,Britney and Christina, can’t wait for the album definitely will support them. XG all the way.
XG isn't getting the hype that they deserve. They literally can do ANYTHING. These girls are amazing individually and even better as a group. I have been a stan of different groups throughout the years, but, I can definitely say that they are 1 of the most well rounded group. R&B and hiphop suits them and it feels like it's natural to them, like they really listen to the genre and really love it. I honestly do not have a bias because I love them all so much.
p.s im hoping Juria and Chisa cover The Boy is Mine by Brandy and Monica, I think they would pop off with the vocals, riffs and runs. STAN XG!!!! You wont regret it.

XG is the realest deal ever! This girls are just oozing with genuineness in every aspect. I haven't seen such a group who has this profound and broad knowledge about what they put themselves into. They are seriously THAT GROUP! And I'm here to support them until whenever!
This is MY gg. I listen to mostly 90s/00s hip & R&B which is what got me into BTS. I fell in love with their earlier music but, as I delved deeper, I fell in love with their overall artistry and many more things about them. I feel like I'm following a very similar path with XG. My Kings and Queens.
R&B head here too!! My favorite and I think the most underrated singer is Joe. His all that I am cd is my favorite.

I am not into KPop/ JPop at all but this is something that goes beyond. It's so clear that their core identity is based on RnB and hip hop, they delivered 110%. The quality of their originals and also the rap songs on old instrumentals is TOP NOTCH. So glad young female artists are smashing the world. Keep goin'!!

Great interview. Thoughtful questions. But mostly i liked that XG's answers didn't seem rehearsed. They weren't 'playing the tape'', they were actually answering the questions

They've all inherited the true spirit of hip-hop and R&B, which is why their performances feel so authentic instead of just being a shallow copy. Nobody is doing it like XG right now.
It's very interesting to see that they support R&B and hip-hop, which is one of the reasons they are so successful with the western world.
Their influence and love for '90s hip hop and R&B is evident and sincere through the music sound and the look of their videos. They are genuine and real along with being talented
I got into them recently (Shooting Star era) and I've not stanned them yet but I think I'm gonna soon cuz their music is just too good!!!
Like Left Right and SS are my SOTY contenders already and it's only Feb now
XG's music taste is immaculate. True artists right here that fully embodies the core foundations set before them and channels them to create unique music without boundaries. This is a group who is worthy of praise. They ain't playin' no games. XG is the future and the future is now.

One of the reasons R&B and Hip-Hop come naturally to XG is they grew up w/ it. Japan is the 2nd largest music industry after the US so many American artists from Heavy Metal, Rock, Jazz, Soul to Pop, R&B and Hip-Hop toured in Japan at the height of its popularity. Fujiwara brought the old school hip-hop to Japan in the 80s. The fashion-obsession of the youth culture inspired by post-war Ura-Harajuku style influenced the music culture even in the US. The authentic 90s and early 2000s fashion styling on XG shows this influence that’s why it feels and looks authentic. So excited for XG’s forthcoming album. ❤ #StanXG
Yeah it's crazy in the early 90's Japan was doing pure Hiphop like B-boys, Djing, Graffiti and MC-ing however not mainstream.. Few years after, Japanese entertainment soon picked that up and made shows to showcase the culture specifically Super Chample, Dance Koshien etc.. That's why the OG Hiphop founders and creators are going back and forth to Japan.. Tony Gogo, one of the OG lockers even had a family there and made his twin sons one of the legendary lockers in this era.
Finally, someone who really knows the deep root of Japan's Hiphop/R&B era 😅

The fact that everyone is getting the same 'so going to make it big' vibez from XG really gives me goosebumps. Their energy is something I haven't felt for a while, the genuine hunger for music and confidence in themselves is just cementing my fangirling !!! I have NEVER felt this way about a girlgroup.

Oh god I hope and pray they stick with the R&B/Hip-hop as their core sound! It hits so different and feels so authentic for them as opposed to it feeling like a passing trend. They own it, shine in it, and it feels like they found their identity in that genre.
