Such an amazing musician. So sad we lost him and Brecker prematurely.

“Some of the pop music from the 1930s is more groovin than what I hear now”, is the quote of the friggen century!

I was trying to decide why I miss Bob and Michael Brecker so much. It comes down to three things: 1) harmonic sense 2) continuity and drive and 3) integrity. All of these are rare qualities in music...especially these days.

Bob Berg, who I came to admire late but who it seems came only too late to realise his own greatness, that Miles saw in '85/86. Note how Bob climbs the London Bridge steps in half-whole intervals, like a proper disciple of 'trane. Peace and love.

@psadotti I had the same thought. So I been sheddin' like there is no tomorrow. You know all the cats will be there... Trane, Michael, Bird, Cannonball... and the fiercest rhythm section. You know they let him right on the stand because he was ready.
