The Gleeful Twins have sat pretty and played their part but jealously begins to resonates within them as they struggle over Stanford's attention. They both wish to be his successor however to get the opportunity they must ruin the other. All the while, Stanford is entertaining himself by playing the twins like puppets on a string setting the playing field to see how far he can push them before they break.
Seeing that Halloween weekend is today we wanted to give you something special that fits the mood of the holiday. We couldn't think of a more fitting CMV.
Bringing back Gravity Falls/Reverse Falls to the channel since you've all been asking, plus what else would we do with Helen up here! Working with her was a blast. We all still cannot believe we were able to come together and collaborate. Seeing us in this CMV together is still mind blowing, its like a dream come true.

Ok, I think the twin's different reactions to Ford's manipulation is really interesting, as well as the way it was shown visually. Dipper feels very trapped and imprisoned by it, as shown by the spider webs, where as Mabel is simply curious about it. It almost looks as if she's enjoying it. At the very least, she's certainly indifferent. I'm not quite sure what the ribbons could symbolize yet, but I think it's worth noting that Ford's manipulation is displayed through two, very different materials.

I took the ribbons as ties to Stanford's manipulations, or even just Stanford himself. Example one: The scene where Dipper intentionally jerks the table while Mabel is doing her makeup, Stanford pushes past him and comforts her and helps to fix it, and the next scene, Stanford is in his chair using his index finger to pull at the string. Example two: In the scene Mabel and Dipper are trying to walk away from each other/Stanford on the stage, his expression turns from happy/pleasant what have you, into anger and he immediately grasps the ribbons and tugs them back. I think it was trying to symbolize the twins trying to walk away or maybe trying to find themselves outside of their family and Stanford wants to keep them close for whatever purpose. Now, the very last scene, with Stanford sitting in the woods surrounded by overlapping ribbons and cutting one and the scenes before it with Dipper drowning Mabel and Mabel putting a spider on his shoulder. I'm not entirely sure how these scenes correlate. I think it might be Stanford cutting them off finally after using them for his purposes. (Note: I'm not taking these scenes literally. I'm reading them much like you are, how the twins are reacting to the manipulation.)
TLDR: My theory that they're puppet strings and Stanford is the puppeteer.
