I was waiting for this. Ben is so damn talented. He's pretty much my favorite artist of all time. So glad you got this reaction. If you ever want to delve into more Ben, I recommend 'Conrad', 'Burgh Island', 'Towing the Line' (Jools Holland), and 'Esmerelda' (Casino De Paris Live). There isn't enough reactions to Ben and I want to see more. ❤️
The album is an absolute masterpiece. And this live performance, Ive watched hundreds of times and nothing I've seen comes close to it. His heartbreak at the end screaming into his guitar is incredible "This is hell, this is just hell"
Love it!!! More ben Howard will genuinely blow you away!! I forget where we were, all is now harmed, black flies, esmerelda (live at casino de Paris), promise r my recommendations honestly amazing music hope you enjoy!!
The live from Glastonbury version is stunning. The ambiance of the outdoor arena at dusk really adds to it all. You can just imagine yourself right there in the front row.
I lost the love of my life during covid. Depth over distance is our song. And now so even more than ever. The version your talking about is something I hold very close to my heart.
Through those first couple of minutes you don't understand why so many people recommend this performance. His change of pace and progression is stunning. What he does with an acoustic guitar is unreal.
Love that you reacted to this one. It really it is a song of two halves! I recommend you continue the Ben Howard journey with Keep Your Head Up which is a much more upbeat and optimistic kind of song. Enjoy! There are other greats one too though such as The Wolves, I Forget Where We Were and Depth Over Distance. x
Yes! Let's keep this Ben Howard train going, I think you guys would like the song I Forget Where We Were, which is the title track of his second album (which End of the Affair is on) It's a very easy listen and one of his biggest songs for a reason. Also would be intrigued to see you dive into a song or 2 off his 3rd album (noonday dream) which is very experimental and different to what you've heard already. Nica Libres At Dusk, Murmurations and There's Your Man being my personal favourites.
The Defeat Ben Howard try that one. There's no rush when you don't belong Turns out we don't all fight like dogs in the end Most of us want to roll out, roll under the grass You an endless cartoon, no bridge in your song Spirulina won't kill my heartbreak I was a dreamer when I learned to take In between her and a fireplace There are factors that condition me something and can I pay? (Pay) And the blank ones cartwheel out of the furnace The mold never cracked, you see The girls in [?] Still sleep on their backs Understood a fact When you spoke in all your marvelous ideologies The world is always at ease, at ease, at ease Don't you see? And the deaths on the highways From drink in the casinos Feel so natural Every day a dice roll, everywhere you gamble Wearing something I can handle And the world [?] savior We are taught to savor everyone else's failures Endlessly Even the greatest, the very very greatest Gave up, tapped out Told all you fuckers to lie down Yet still you found cathedrals of deceit Where does the robber go Where does the robber go to repent? Tell me Tell anyone you wouldn't buy a round For your best friend See it trickle down on you I don't depend, there you go, then Buy another round Buy infinitum Bye, there you go and bye It's such a happy sound There is no rush when you don't belong Turns out we don't all fight like dogs in the end Most of us want to roll out, roll under the grass You endless cartoon, no bridge in your song Make me wonder again Or make me learn to pretend Make me wonder again Or make me learn to pretend Make me wonder again Or make me learn to pretend
Honestly guys, I feel like you struggled with this a little, maybe because of the odd distraction here and there. It took me a few listens for this song/performance to sink in. It's worth giving this a few tries, trust me.
Seriously that was your reaction. OK. I get confused when people don't think that's one of the greatest live performances ever. But we are all different I suppose and its speaks to people differently. But man, that was....well 10 min of reaction that I wasted.
This whole album is a masterpiece
One of the best performances in the history of the show. Stunning!

Your take on this is great. He’s a combination of great lyricist, an unbelievable guitarist and a super creative song writer
I completely agree 🤍

You should watch Ben Howard Depth over Distance live at KCRW. It’s one of his best performances along with this one!
I second this comment! This is a must watch.
I lost the love of my life during covid. Depth over distance is our song. And now so even more than ever. The version your talking about is something I hold very close to my heart.
One of the most beautiful live performances I've ever seen

Totally agree
I seen ben howard just after his first album released over 10 years ago and to this day it is the best gig i have seen live ..
I heard it by accident. But, weirdly, knew it was gonna be great. One cannot tire of this tune.

I would suggest "Was I Just Another One" by Gregory Alan Isakov. I feel like I'm enveloped by the song when I listen to it.
I'm English! When I lived in Denmark, my girlfriend at the time told me : 'English is the perfect music for the world' You're welcome
To pick you back up I think you should do Keep Your Head Up next.
3 upbeat songs i would suggest if ur staying on ben howard are keep your head up , the wolves and the fear ...
Paolo Nutini, lose it on jools Holland is a must, there’s an AC/DC vibe to it 👍👍
Honestly guys, I feel like you struggled with this a little, maybe because of the odd distraction here and there. It took me a few listens for this song/performance to sink in. It's worth giving this a few tries, trust me.
react to the wolves by him!

Hope he paid royalties to the Buckley estate for righteously ripping off "Song to the Siren".
Sound completely different sort your ears out 🥴🥴
