I never considered my children an "unimportant triviality" - even when I cleaned the mud off their shoes 1000 times a day, or swept the same floor tracked with mud. They are my joy. Feminism destroys the family - really, how dare they say what I do for God is unimportant or trivial. I have fought to stay at home with my children, even while I was married, through the divorce, and subsequent years as a single mother; Feminist thought has crept into the court system and destroys the family unit... a woman is expected to work now and this leaves the children without anyone at home, essentially without parents to guide them and raise them. I chastised the judge who favored my husband and his girlfriend during a child support session saying, "You are supposed to be on the side of the widow and the orphan." When I said this, he threatened to have me thrown out by security. All I did was stand up for my rights as a Mother. Thank you Father Ripperger for the truth... no one has been by my side through any of this, even in thought, word or deed.

Linda May Burdick God is with you always and He gave us His Mother. I know how you feel but now I’m older with grandchildren and when the painful memories enter, I turn to Jesus and Mary. I tell them all about my life in a prayer form late at night when it’s quiet and I can recollect myself. During the day, I chase all negative thoughts away until I’m alone with Them. I can tell you that God and Mother comfort me and I fall asleep in peace. I will pray for you and I ask your prayers for my family. We are NOT alone.

Whenever I hear a sermon like this one, I feel sad for all the couples who apparently struggle constantly with decision-making in the home. I imagine the father yelling, "I have the authority! You must listen to me!" And the mother yelling, "No, you're wrong and I'm right!"
My husband and I have been married 40 years and I can't recall a single decision going this way. We've always talked, discussed, worked things out. Sometimes he has the better idea and sometimes I do. What has been nice is that he is quick to acknowledge my contributions and (hopefully) I, his. Sometimes I defer to his judgment (he has good judgment on most things) and I know he has done the same for me. I respect him immensely but I also feel respect coming from him as well.
I feel sad when I see older couples in restaurants not talking to each other, like they have run out of things to say. I guess a lifetime of "you listen to me" takes its toll on a marriage.
Sometimes on an ordinary day, I'll call my husband and tell him how much I appreciate everything he has done for our family. How much he means to all of us.
Mutual respect, love, and everyday kindness make a marriage strong. And being a Catholic couple is the best thing in the world. I encourage anyone who's reading this who is not Catholic, or who has fallen away, to investigate what the Church is really all about and how it sustains you and your family in good times and bad.

J D Without hierarchy there is war. If you are equal in authority and you both think you are right about something that concerns your children, then it is unethical to submit to the other. The hierarchy is a blessing. We also have teachings on when and how the mother can have authority. The mother is societies repose of wisdom. God blesses the obedient mother with wisdom to be used for the benefit of society. The mother can only obtain that blessing if they refrain from gossip and idle chit-chat. If you say whatever comes into your mind, your mind will be always empty. It is the silent woman who is listened to. It is the silent woman who accumulates wisdom for when it is needed. The men are for muscle and brute force, action etc. Jesus listened to his mother. The most wise human in the bible is of course Mary. Blessed among women. The husband has the authority sure. But if he ignores the wisdom of his wife they are all doomed.

As I am single, I have to work to put a roof over my head and food on the table. That being said, I think that feminism has ruined men as well as woman. I am single because men no longer value marriage. I have dated, but in every almost case, the man expects sex without marriage. In the church, the men I meet who are interested in marriage, but cannot even be financially responsible for themselves, let alone a family. So many of them are given to the effeminate failings of vanity and sloth these days. Why do they think a woman would be attracted to them? I even had one man (and I use that term loosely) who was thinking of quitting his job because our relationship had gotten more serious, and he thought he could live off my earnings. Needless to say, I have pretty much given up on dating. Feminism has caused men to reject their own masculinity. I wish our priest would say something about this problem of sloth and vanity. I'm sure I will get a lot of nasty comments because of this, but consider well before you blame women for the problem of feminism.

I have a question. You say it is a mortal sin for a Mom to work outside the home unless out of grave necessity. What are the lines in that exactly? How does one determine what is necessary and what isn’t? I am a stay at home Mom with a three month old daughter and my husband works 60+hrs a week for this to be possible and we are barely floating with inflation. How are we to save for a house without my husband being a practically absent father unless I also work some? What about working from my own home? Or being able to bring my daughter with me so my husband can be home with us a little more? Or is that just a sacrifice that needs to be made now? Mortal sin is no small thing and I don’t want to cross that line.

I get it (this isn’t Fr writing). I’m in the same boat trying to figure out how to save for a house (crash coming so there’s that for us) etc. yeah I would say working from home, especially an online biz, is a great idea. Remember St Therese’s mom had a lace business and her dad basically got it ‘movin and grooving’. Lots of ideas out there to do.
Pray to the infant of Prague too for financial help. Get a statue (if you don’t already) and do the chaplet and really crank up a devotion to Him.
Hat tip to your hubby too. Most men don’t have the fortitude to pound away and sacrifice like that. I missed out on most of my first born’s life for driving literally all day and most of the early morning. Saw him for lunch sometimes and an hour before bedtime.

Of course it isn't a mortal sin to work outside home! So many devout Catholic women like Amy Coney Barett or Katalin Novak are even politicians or lawyers! The Pope says exactly that. Don't let yourself be fooled by some ultra-traditionalists who believe in their own ideas than follow the Church teaching. The point is only that the sexes shouldn't go into competition with their partners like :"I want to do all what my husband does too so I want to work full time next to rearing my children". THAT is a mortal sin.

God comes first, that’s all. Husbands and wives should sort themselves out within their own homes, and not by society’s norms, but in all cases, God first. If we pay attention to the first two commandments, everything else will naturally fall into place. If we love God with all our hearts, we we have grace, and if we love others AS we love ourselves...not more and not less...then we won’t want anyone else to feel self hatred, feel inferior, feel lacking, subservient, etc...Unfortunately, I have to say, I see this being twisted, among many men and some women, to make the other feel lacking and inferior. This need to dominate the other....I believe this is part of the misery and comes from selfishness. Yes, stay home with your children, if you can...I wasn’t given that opportunity, and wonder, always, when and how I sometimes dropped the ball because of it. Nevertheless, all is now going according to the natural law, for me and for my daughter..and I want her to avoid marrying (if she decides) a man who won’t take his place in the natural law, as well....and without trying to demean or make trivial her rights as a woman, as said in this video. :-)

      You are missing the point.
A woman’s primary role is at the home. Now there’s certain circumstances where the husband isn’t able to provide enough for the wife to stay at home, but more than often, they make enough, they just want more money instead of prioritizing and raising up their children in the Catholic faith. Instead they stuff them in daycares with strangers who they don’t know anything about their religious agendas, around kids whose parents probably aren’t Catholic, and therefore plugging them in so early to indoctrination camps (schools).
If you really ask yourself genuinely, what does God want for a woman? time and time again her place is in the home with the greatest duty to mankind by fostering the education and environment for her children.
Cool your a computer engineer. Your value doesn’t come from your career 1st. It comes from God, and frankly your career doesn’t matter no where close as much vs your role as a wife and mom. point is your husband can work outside the home, but he can’t nurture the kids as well as you if you stayed at home. And when a man’s functioning accordingly as a man, a woman doesn’t have the same authority as him. Simple as that. And it depends on your circumstance as well.
I guess the main question is, are you a feminist? And if you are, how does that glorify God? Just cause you say so? Isn’t obedience to what God wants more important than how you choose to glorify him?
Cause choosing to do it your own way is making the religion something it is not. And it’s the worship of self.
At the end of your life God isn’t going to ask you about your career. He’s going to ask how much did you obey him and foster the education of your kids and obey your husband.

Women never thought that they could have a potential job career but now it's true. Whether it's running for political office like Town Mayor, State Governor, State Senator, Becoming US President or Vice President and even becoming a Supreme court Justice. Whether they're nominated by a Republican President or Democratic President. For example former US President Donald J Trump nominated Amy Coney Barret to become the next Supreme Court Justice in Washington DC and in last year US President Joe Biden nominated Ketanji Brown Jackson to become a Supreme court Justice. And some US Senators voted yes for Amy Coney Barret and some voted no. And some US Senators voted yes for Ketanji Brown Jackson and some voted no. My mom is a sincere practicing Catholic like myself and she believes that women in the Catholic faith should become ordained Catholic priests but I strongly disagree with her. Because men has always been ordained Catholic priests from the very beginning. As for me, I'm a Knight of Columbus myself and I strongly believe that only Catholic men can join the Knights of Columbus. Not women. And I vividly remember when I was with a friend of mine who's a lesbian and she grew up in a Catholic Christian household but she said that Catholic women should join the Knights of Columbus as well and I told her that I disagree with her because only men can join and till this day I still disagree with her. Because I will not allow and tolerate liberal influence taking over the Catholic Christian faith. And some women may think I'm being misogynistic but I'm not.

I have wondered if Adam ate the apple because he knew Eve would now die, and he just didn't want to go back to just living alone with the animals after having her. Of course this motive is selfish and dismissive of God.
Adam should have obeyed God, and trusted that God would somehow remedy the situation. Abraham believed that God could bring Isaac back from the dead, and Abraham did not have the graces that Adam did. Job trusted God even in the face of death, and Job did not have the graces that Adam did.
Adam needed to man up and deal with the terrible situation, not give up and reject God in favor of Adam's own death. Escapism is never a real plan.

God created everything “in its whole substance” from nothing (ex nihilo) in the beginning.
      (Lateran IV; Vatican Council I)
Genesis does not contain purified myths. (Pontifical Biblical Commission 1909[1])
Genesis contains real history-it gives an account of things that really happened. (Pius XII, Humani generis)
Adam and Eve were real human beings-the first parents of all mankind. (Pius XII)
Polygenism (many “first parents”) contradicts Scripture and Tradition and is condemned. (Pius XII; 1994 Catechism, 360, footnote 226: Tobit 8:6-the “one ancestor” referred to in this Catechism could only be Adam.)
The “beginning” of the world included the creation of all things, the creation of Adam and Eve and the Fall (Jesus Christ [Mark 10:6]; Pope Innocent III; Blessed Pope Pius IX, Ineffabilis Deus).
The body of Eve was specially created from a portion of Adam’s body (Leo XIII). She could not have originated via evolution.
Various senses are employed in the Bible, but the literal obvious sense must be believed unless reason dictates or necessity requires (Leo XIII, Providentissimus Deus).
Adam and Eve were created upon an earthly paradise and would not have known death if they had remained obedient (Pius XII).
After their disobedience of God, Adam and Eve were banished from the Garden of Eden. But the Second Person of the Trinity would subsequently pay the ransom for fallen man (Nicene Creed).
Original Sin is a flawed condition inherited from Adam and Eve (Council of Trent).
The Universe suffers in travail ever since the sin of disobedience by Adam and Eve. (Romans 8, Vatican Council I).
We must believe any interpretation of Scripture that the Fathers taught unanimously on a matter of faith or morals (Council of Trent and Vatican Council I).
All the Fathers who wrote on the subject believed that the Creation days were no longer than 24-hour-days. (Consensus of the Fathers of the Church)
The work of Creation was finished by the close of Day Six, and nothing completely new has since been created-except for each human rational soul at conception (Vatican Council I)
St. Peter and Christ Himself in the New Testament confirmed the global Flood of Noah. It covered all the then high mountains and destroyed all land dwelling creatures except eight human beings andall kinds of non-human creatures aboard the Ark (Unam Sanctam, 1302)
The historical existence of Noah’s Ark is regarded as most important in typology, as central to Redemption. (1566 Catechism of the Council of Trent)
Evolution should not be taught, but Catholic scholars should study the evidence for and against the evolutionary hypothesis.
      (Pius XII, Humani Generis)
Traditional Catholic philosophy and metaphysics must be maintained in the study and exposition of the Catholic doctrine of creation (Pius XII, Humani Generis).
Adam and Eve were real. Your position is idiotic. By the way, an apple is one of the most popular fruits.

"*To say that the human race began 6000 years ago with 1 mating pair when science knows that this is impossible is idiotic, in my book.*"
And God creating the universe Ex Nihilo is somehow possible? Somehow 'Something from nothing' is scientific? Somehow unprovable science is dogma? Somehow your book dictates truth? For all the evidence needed to prove that God did it the way he said he did it you people sure don't have a scrap of tangible evidence to support your own Anti-Catholic myths.
"*I suppose you also believe the earth is flat since that was the assumption of the Bible authors.*"
First error, the authors assumed nothing. Second error, you presume more than is true.
I do not believe the earth to be flat since the Church Fathers are not unanimous, and because we can fly up and look.
"*Frankly, I could not care less what Church Fathers and Popes in ancient times without the benefit of modern genetics and science had to say on this.*"
Frankly you are not Catholic, simple as that.
      Here is what science says:
1 Molecules-to-man evolutionary theory violates the second law of thermodynamics by positing spontaneous increases in order through random interactions of matter.
2 Matter from explosions does not condense to form objects like galaxies.
3 Chemicals do not react together randomly to form amino acids through natural processes.
4 Amino acids do not randomly interact to form living cells through undirected natural processes.
5 Molecules-to-man evolutionism violates the Law of Biogenesis: Life does not come from non-life.
6 The specific complexity of genetic information in the genome does not increase spontaneously. Therefore, there is no natural process whereby reptiles can turn into birds, land mammals into whales, or chimpanzees into human beings.
7 All organisms are irreducibly complex. Therefore, in order for any kind of organism to exist, all of the essential parts of that organism must be fully functioning from the beginning of its existence.
8 As now used by evolutionary scientists there is virtually no value in radio dating as an objective source of prehistoric chronology.
9 Many worldwide natural processes indicate an age for the earth of 10,000 years or less. These include population kinetics, influx of radiocarbon into earth’s atmosphere, absence of meteorites from the geologic column, and decay of earth’s magnetic field.
10 Sedimentological research has challenged the principles upon which the geological time scale is based.
There is no gradualism in the fossil record, no intermediate types.
And here is what your religion of scientology teaches:
1 In the beginning there was neither heaven nor earth, just concentrated primeval matter.
      This matter expanded and exploded.
2 The explosion produced gas, mainly helium and hydrogen, which expanded. Over billions of years, clumps of the gas contracted and formed stars. One of these stars was our sun.
3 Part of the sun detached itself and became planet Earth.
4 Radiometric dating strongly indicates that the earth is more than four billion years old.
5 Given enough time, random interactions of matter will produce spontaneous increases in specific complexity in randomly-formed units of matter.
6 When the planet cooled, chemicals reacted together to form amino acids.
Primitive living cells resulted from combinations of the amino acids.
7 A process of evolution led to the primitive cells developing into complex cells.
8 Over millions of years the cells transformed into higher organisms.
Gradually the organisms divided themselves into flora and fauna.
9 All the known species of plants and trees evolved over immense periods of time, perhaps from some primitive form of algae.
10 Similarly, man evolved from simple marine life, transformed over eons of time from some form of bacteria into all the aquatic, land and air species that have ever existed.

Women and men have distictive dutys/works in the plan of God's creation, both naturally as supernaturally. God's punishment to Adam alone was that he'd (we) would have to work and suffer by doing it. The woman had a moral duty to feed and educate the children, and that isnt something thats only to be observed to when the children is, lets say 3. As if later It wouldnt be a sort of adultery. And some fathers would calm the woman who wouldnt employ nannys so she wouldnt have to Deal with the children's need for assistance for subsistence and need for education. Saint Thomas on his Compendium of Theologiae says that that duty goes for life.

Another Feminazi comes out of the closet. You obviously did not pay attention to Lenins(Communist) agenda at the beginning. Communism is evil. It killed over 20 million people. Maybe your a cultural Marxist? Feminism is nothing more a tool for the Marxist agenda.
