Hello Roger, Would you recommend one of each (Hero and Pro) for a 2 camera in studio interview style production, 2xMax or 2xPro?
Seriously, I prefer the Max to the Hero8. The ability to reframe on the Max far surpasses the video quality of the Hero8. So many memorable moments would have been missed on the Hero8 which were not on a 360 camera.
How is the quality on MAX in linear mode? On my Hero 6 it is much better than on MAX.
Already have a Hero 8, was going to get a second Hero 8 but now after watching this and reading some comments here I think I'll go with there Max. Thanks, very informative .

So I just googled GoPro release dates and they have essentially released a new model almost Every year since at least the GoPeo 6. So...I’m going to wait for the GoPro Max 4K . It will be out by next year.

Damn! I just purchased a Fusion, when I thought I was buying a Max. Needing two USB cards is just - dumb! Added to a slow 60 Mbps speed and larger file size, its second-rate. Thanks for the break-down. I'll be returning this.
Hi. Did you find out how to record 6 mic sorround sound? With any settings i get only stereo sound. Fusion is not problematic about sorround sound. Great to listen on headset and spin around 360 vr video. Especialy on misic event like concerts.

Very interesting comparison Roger! For my part, I can't wait to see the GoPro Max reviews and to learn if there's an underwater housing for the Max or not since I'm a scuba diver. If not, then I'll get the GoPro 8
What about the lens, will go pro replace it on the max?
I know they won’t be replacing on the hero 8, I mean there can be high impact damage from a drone crash or whatever, which is a deal breaker for me and I’d rather get the 7 where the lens can be bought and replaced!!!

Already have a Rylo 360 so its gonna be a Hero 8 for me probably. The workflow for the 360 cams is a little laborious if using it as a main-cam, but wondering if in 180/hero mode for the Max if you'll be able to bypass the need to set points of reference throughout each clip to quicken the editing process.

One thing do Hero max shoot slow motion?
I have the Fusion. And to be honest , I gave up on the removing 2 sd cards and stitching. I went with the less Quality WiFi version. If this Max can shoot hero 7 black Quality video? Then am in, immediately. Great video. I Like how you explain stuff. I didn’t know about the mbps until you mentioned it . I do now, thanks to this. Later

The issue with the MAX is no one knows if there is a 60fps. For a action camera, being able to slow mo is important. Anyway I preordered the MAX as well.
There is a 60fps mode because I watched another max video of a workflow and the content creater exported a 1080p 60fps video.

Ernest Ong that is a pal version. It definitely records 1080p at 60fps for US spec.
Quick question, I know the max can live stream 1080p with max hypersmooth, I know the hero 8 can live stream 1080p but do u know if u can live stream hypersmooth on the hero 8?

Wait so. The max has less mgps than the fusion? Because it records. 78 vs 120....
Two camera's are recording two separate videos at 60 mbps. They do not technically add up to 120 mbps because they are separate files.
Ive never had a gopro. I'm wanting one to video my 2 year old daughter on vacations, holidays, Birthdays ect. I'm really confused on which one I should get! It's been driving me crazy trying to figure out which one either the hero 8 or the max. Which one do you think? Please help. Thanks.

I might consider the GoPro max if it had a higher frame rate for slow motion. I'll probably get the insta360

You could just get a video editor and IT would have slow motion.
So, if that's the only hang up, then the max would be the way to go...
