My take in villain hiccup is that he turned his back on berk for the dragons because he feels closer to the dragons. Similar to what his Valka did. In the Villain AU he's trying to free dragons, saving them. So technically he would be the villain because the mos of the cast wants to kill dragons and hiccup is all against that. Both sides are not evil, they are just protecting those that are on their side. I think Hiccup would still treat the dragons well instead of using them as tools. Also the papa's music at the end!

I read a fanfic about hiccup running away and starting his own. But sooner in the story he lost his own path and pushed everyone away when things arent going his way, including astrid and toothless and in the end i think he got executed but before that he apologized to astrid and toothless and asked astrid to take care of toothless for him (i didn't bother reading the whole fic because it seems like its full of angst and my heart can only take so much 😭) yeah, this reminds me of that fic Edit: i already deleted that fic in my downloads a long time ago but i do remember it having 20-40 chapters, being on fanfiction net and having the tragedy tag.
