Yep, you can't go wrong with “Perennial (Live At Wacken Open Air 2019)" next. And you might want to compare it with the Original Music Video of Perennial which is great as well. We are all amazed by how awsome and refreshing this band is. There are plenty of great songs to discover from them, I hope you will enjoy them!
A lot of their fans are not metal fans. It's just that the band is so good and her voice so ungodly good that they wind up drawing fans of all different types of music. They have recorded actual literal jazz songs, reggae songs, pop, blues, metal, and all of it performed perfectly and on point so they it makes sense. They even have this brutal metal song called Home Back where right in the middle of it they toss in an actual bossa nova section just to keep listeners on their feet and guessing.
I'dd add to that a bit of backstory just in case. Home Back is about their hometown in eastern Ukraine being caught in the middle of the warzone there. They had to move to the western part of the country becoming refugees within the country in order to escape the violence and be able to continue touring since the battle-lines would have made that impossible. While there is a ceasefire now and they can visit their families from time to time, there's no end in sight unless Ukraine accepts Russia's demand to split off the eastern part of the country to become a Russian controlled puppet-state. The song says "I want my home back." It also speaks powerfully to the experiences of millions of ordinary people caught in every war around the world, and the video is very well done.
Good reaction. Welcome to Jinjer. Tatiana is a vocal goddess and one of the best front women in the business. The band's musicianship is second to none. To appreciate how good they are, react to their live material. I suggest "Perennial" live at Wacken. If growling is not your thing try "I speak Astronomy" (OMV) or "Teacher, Teacher" (OMV) while there is some extreme vocals they are not as abundant.
she caresses us gently with her beautiful cleans, slaps and punches us with her growls, then caresses with the cleans again. Eventually, everybody breaks. ;)
During your live stream was the first time I heard Jinjer. At first I was unsure of them but now I'm a fan. She has an amazing voice and I really like this song. Thanks Reckyj for doing this video!
Watching first time Jinjer reactions is my hobby.. that was fun. The band is it's own genre.. mixing everything. Tatiana has not had any vocal training. The awesome band is from the Ukraine - they write first in Russian and then translate to English. Perennial live at Wacken is usually next for reactions.. really shows Tatiana's vocal abilities and the band is amazing. Roman, Eugene and Vlad are all exceptional on their instruments. If you'd like to see a good - very relaxed - interview with her, the charismatic voice channel did a tea time with her a few months ago.
Suggestions? Perennial live at Wacken Teacher, Teacher Official Live Video (it´s a studio recording, but segments of live performances) Pit of Consciousness live in Kiev Judgement (& Punishment) one take live recording With no growls: Bad water (official video)
🔥Welcome to Jinjer Recky! I just found your channel, great reaction, subbed! Thank you for bringing the fantastic genre twisting music of Jinjer to more people! I love their energy, how tight they are, how down to earth they are, the heaviness mixed with complexity and groove, beautiful singing and beautiful growling and especially Tatiana's lyrics! The first time I heard Pisces last year I hadn't liked any metal with growling and it took me a few listens to start liking it, but now Tatiana is my favorite vocalist and Jinjer my favorite band. TLDR: skip to the last paragraph 😂 Sorry for the very long comment, I just love Jinjer too much and love seeing people discover (and usually fall in love with) them and each of their songs! My three favorite comments about Jinjer that I've seen, "terrifying levels of talent", "I hate it when a Jinjer song ends", and "that was more unexpected than my first child" 🤣 I love the story of Tatiana getting interested in learning to growl. In her own words, "I was inspired by Otep (Shamaya). When I was 15, my friend showed me a record of House of Secrets. I was like, ‘That dude - his voice is so powerful. And he said, ‘Oh come on Tatiana, that’s actually a woman!’ I was like, ‘What?’ She blew my mind. That was the time, the moment when I realized I wanted to shock people just like her. I just had the feeling or the intuition, like an extra sense that this is what I’m made to do.” The four current members have essentially no musical training except for Vlad the drummer who studied classical piano. They've been a tour heavy band, on the road almost nonstop from 2013 to 2020, hard work that has made them fantastic live and make it look effortless. For most of their songs, the three guys write most of the instrument music, then Tatiana writes most of the lyrics and melodies (she gets tons of well deserved credit for her vocal and stage performance abilities, but maybe not quite enough for her lyrical and musical composition abilities). Roman the guitarist has written a lot of the instrument music in the past, so he's a huge part of the beautiful sound of Jinjer, but Vlad the drummer (who also plays guitar and piano, but so far not in most Jinjer songs - I think he played piano in lainnereP) has been writing more of it and wrote nine of the eleven songs for the newest album Wallflowers, first four videos are out for Vortex, Mediator, Wallflower and Disclosure! Eugene composes some - he wrote the instrument music for one song on Wallflowers and a few songs on other albums, and I know that apart from his amazing work on the bass, he adds riffs and has written lyrics for a few Jinjer songs. The band (all members have been Ukrainian, with Russian their first language) started in eastern Ukraine in 2009 as a group of three (then five) with none of the current members (they consider the official start of the band when Tatiana replaced the male vocalist and Roman joined as lead guitar 2009/2010), Vlad is the fifth drummer (joined in 2016) and it's been a group of four since 2015 (though they consider their road sound engineer Sasha to be a fifth member). I think they're still friends with all the former members. One of the things I love most about Jinjer is the messages in Tatiana's lyrics and the way she combines her beautiful growling and beautiful singing with Jinjer's fantastic instrumentals to be so powerful for expressing the anger and pain in those messages: the anti-war message in Home Back, the anti-greed in On The Top, Mediator and No Hoard Of Value (also the horror of the coal mining industry in their home Ukraine), the protest song Who Is Gonna Be The One, the anti-fascism of Sit Stay Roll Over, the anger at people being narrow minded in Teacher Teacher and Judgment & Punishment, the struggles with mental health in Pit Of Consciousness, Vortex, Wallflower and Perennial, the giving voice to mother nature angry at humanity for letting capitalism destroy her in a bunch of songs like Ape, The Prophecy, Cloud Factory, Noah, Outlander, Dip A Sail and Bad Water. Other favorites are I Speak Astronomy, Retrospection, Words of Wisdom, Just Another, Captain Clock, Scissors, Exposed As A Liar, I Want It I'll Get It, A Plus Or A Minus, When Two Empires Collide, lainnereP, Prologue and Beggar's Dance (those last two are short album bookends that might do well together in one reaction). I haven't found a Jinjer song I don't love, so I think you can't go wrong if you choose any of them, but a few good choices might be Perennial (official and/or live at Wacken, both are must-see), Teacher Teacher (official and/or live in Melbourne), Judgement & Punishment (official and/or Tatiana's one take performance, again both must-see), Pit of Consciousness (official and/or live in Kiev/Kyiv, a third where both are absolutely must-see) or the heartwrenching plea against war in Home Back (official video). Note that because Jinjer has so many great official videos and so many astounding live performance videos, no Jinjer fan will ever mind if you react to a second video for a Jinjer song you've already heard, so whichever songs you choose, whatever pace you like: hope you'll keep trying more Jinjer and enjoy! ❤🖤🤘
I love that the line after the first chorus is "no promises I ever give, don't rely on me and I won't deceive" because she never tricked anyone we just assumed she'd always be sugar and spice. :D A lot of us never liked growling until we discovered Jinjer. :) I had to listen while reading the lyrics for a while to teach my ears to decode the distortion. Check out Perennial live at Wacken for a song with a similar level of intensity on stage. Wallflowers is a recent release that is an introvert anthem. Subbed. Cheers!
My son sent me your reaction to Jinjer! Hehehe - you kept saying "is something going to happen?" OMG your face when she started growling!! Priceless! LOL Jinjer is awesome. We have seen them 3 times in concert. Hope you have listened to some of their other music. Thanks!
Kkk JINJER it's a extreme progressive and groove metal band, usually her voice it's what the people check first, but all the musicians in this band are incredible talented, for me the drummer the best👌, classic piano trained in kid, it's a great guitarrist also, try the video "wallflower" from last album "wallflowers", soft music also with a few growls only in the end, music's bad water and beggars dance (no growls) and judgement and punishment (reggae vibes), perennial live wacken she sing high notes and it's awesome also
Metal screams are a bit of an acquired taste, even more so the whole band as they have some very complex instrumentals at times, which might take some repeated listens to really get into and understand correctly. I'll drop my usual recommendations, in case you want to check out more. There are certainly some more surprises in store with this band. Official video suggestions: Teacher, Teacher Vortex I Speak Astronomy Cloud Factory Retrospection Wallflower No Hoard Of Value (official lyric video) Home Back Mediator Sit Stay Roll Over Live suggestions: Perennial live at Wacken Who Is Gonna Be The One live On The Top live in Kiev Pit Of Consciousness live in Kiev Judgement & Punishment (one take vocal performance) Captain Clock live at Resurrection Fest
Welcome to JINJER! Please continue on with your JINJER journey. Try (PERENNIAL)live in wacken 2019 & (WHO IS GOING TO BE THE ONE) live. Also there is (RETROSPECTION) official video & (CAPTAIN CLOCK) live at resurrection fest. Maybe even do some old school stuff like (OUTLANDER) official video & (SCISSORS) official video. When your done with these videos then your ready for (THE PROPHECY) official video. THANK YOU! ENJOY!!!
See them in 2 days. They are the real deal! From Ukraine, the Donbass region right in the heart of it when the conflict broke out! Can not go wrong with any of their stuff. Music always on point, always a message and always...........Tatiana!!!
I have to say i started my jinjer journey like you did, i did not like any harsh vocals. But now i even enjoy them, now i even listen to even heavier things.
Considering you are not a fan of the music with extreme vocal I'd suggest you to check such of their songs as "Perrenial" (live at Wacken) and "Wallflower" (OMV from their recent album). And "I speak astronomy"(OMV). This songs have approx. equal to "Pisces" proportions of extreme and clean vocals. But if you dare to walk by my steps you can choose only one of that songs and then try much more heavier "Who's gonna be the one"(live). Although I'm an oldschool metalhead I was never into the extreme vocals. Before I heard Jinjer. After "Pisces" and "Teacher Teacher" I started to hesitate. After "Who's gonna be the one" I discovered that I like it pretty much, this song turned me into the fan of the extreme vocal. Not least thanks to Tatiana's exceptional stage presence.
Check out: "Who is gonna be the one" from "Jinjer". A very much underrated song. It also shows how great the other band Members are. ruclips.net/video/U6rv5qi8-8s/видео.html
Good job of keeping an open mind unlike some of the commenters. They are a great live band, hard working and humble but highly driven to give it all every performance.Yes they are Ukrainian and have endured many hardships such as Russian invaders and occupation of their country. They are touring the USA for 3 months playing nightly. They deserve respect IMO whether you like their genre or not for they are really good people
Being close minded when it comes to new music, is a bad move. Some people are just locked it to their old preferences that they won’t let anything else in. That’s not me! 😉
I love Pisces, too! As for the latest album, it's very subjective. I love every song on Wallflowers, and so do most of the Jinjer fans I've seen, but I understand not every song can be for everyone and I'd add that for me, for some Jinjer songs, I didn't follow all of the complexity on the first listen (like Mediator and The Prophecy), but I usually end up liking those songs more than ones I liked immediately because it's somehow very satisfying once the complexity clicks for me. As for lyrics, every time I've read Tatiana's (and in a few songs Eugene's) lyrics, I've loved them immediately, no second take needed, but again not all lyrics can be for everyone. I still keep every Jinjer song on my playlist and still love each one more every time I hear it.
