Great question. I like to put them on the corners of the stage, facing out to the crowd, slightly pointed inwards. I use an X32 in my church and we stream our services on RUclips. We use a camera with two xlr inputs, then go out hdmi to a Teredek Vidiu device for live stream to RUclips. I use two of my busses (linked and set to post) for the audio. This allows me to create a separate broadcast mix and I use sends on faders with my buss channel selected to create that separate mix. For your emailer, since he's using wirecast, he should consider Blackmagic Design's new Web Presenter appliance. This would allow him to use a buss for a separate mix and an xlr out on the m32 for his audio.
hello sir im so blessed to have this channel, thank you so much for the wisdom, our church live streaming sound great now using our xr18...sir can i request can make a video how to put eq and compressor bus out for live streaming? God bless you more sir

Nice vid. I like the idea of the post fade bus mix for the live stream mix. I was going to set mine up with the bus mix being a subgroup but that would have required controlling a whole separate mix. I'll give the post fade bus a try this weekend - seems like a reasonable work around for a single sound desk operator to 'control two mixes' - the FOH and the Livestream. The auditorium I work with has plenty of natural reverb and I run almost zero reverb in FOH and have to add quite a bit for the livestream mix (reverse of what you discussed)

Great information. On the recording bus, I've noticed others recommend "Post" fade, but you're using "Pre" fade, what is the best to use. We're having trouble getting the FX's to sound good. I'm running the FX's returns on our live steam bus all at -10db and it overwheling using "Pre" fade and really weak using "Post" fade. So what is the best insert to use w/ the Live Stream bus? Tnx.
Hey Chad, I love your videos, very insightful and easy to understand. Here's my question, at 11:35 and 16:40, you talk about setting the ambient mics as pre-fade for livestream while everything else on the bus is post fade. For the life of me, I can't figure out how configure the ambients as pre-fade . If it means anything, I created matrices for my mains, livestream and nursery. Thanks in advance. Keep up the good work!
Stafford Trueheart Hey Stafford, you can’t send individual channels like your room mics directly to a matrix. You would have to route them through a bus or pair of busses. If you have busses available, instead of using matrices for your stream, use the busses and you will have more control :) I hope that helps. Thanks for watching and commenting! - Chad

Hey Chad, our church has one X32 for FOH and we've been streaming on a cell phone with the built in mic for nearly 2 years now. I've convinced my pastor to upgrade to a camera with XLR inputs and a Blackmagic Design video switcher, which also has XLR inputs. My church is a small budget church, and just the $3,600 for camera equipment is tough to get done...Needless to say, we aren't in a place to buy a second board for livestream mix entirely, even if it was an XAir. So, with that in mind, here's my question. I'm interested in learning how to set up a seperate mix using Matrices and an Aux fed bus, but I'm not sure how to route that to 2 of the XLR outputs on the back of the board. I also want to mention that our LR feed runs at ~-15dB for FOH. Is this too quiet for a livestream mix? Would I need to turn down the amps to boost the LR volume to Unity? Also, in regards to FX. We have a Stereo GEQ set up in the X32 which is being sent to our LR mix, rather than having an analog EQ . Will this affect our livestream mix negatively? And how would I fix it?

Thank you for the video! I am having trouble making my crowd mics pre fade. My bus mix is post fade and it won’t let me select the “custom” option. Any thoughts? I’m on an x32.
Scottie Bahler Hey Scottie! There is no “custom option”. You’d select post-fade for bus configuration. This will set all channels to post tap going to that bus. Then go to the crowd mics and change them to be pre. I hope that all makes sense :) -Chad

Hello Chad. I need help on routing audio from QU 24 to iPhone. Right now I'm just connecting from monitor mix out via xlr with 1/8 connector to trrs cable to iPhone. How do I monitor the gain output? Sound on live streaming is a little bit distorted. Thanks.
Thanks for the great content! It's been awesome to have a reference to work from as our church transitioned to the x32 from an old Mackie this year. That being said, I can't get my live-stream to be loud enough for normal listening on a computer. The streaming mix is maxed at +10, the pastor's mic is +10 in the mix, and the gain on the mic is as high as it can be without ringing in the house (+26.5). I'm using a separate bus (and usually a separate tech, on an ipad) to mix for live streaming purposes. We are using the x-usb card to send audio directly to a computer (running a slightly dated version of Wirecast, where I cannot see any audio volume settings). Is there anything I can do to get this separate mix to be even louder when sent to the broadcast computer? Love the channel, Jalen
Jalen H Hey Jalen! That’s for the encouraging word! Did you try what I do around 14:30 in this video and apply the Precision Limiter to your stream mix? That could make a huge difference for you. Thanks for watching and commenting - Chad
This video shows me a lot. But the only confusion I have is the introduction of streaming matrixes. Can you do the same control on matrixes like you do with Rec buses. Or how did you add the matrixes or is a complete different ball game Thank you so much
Arnaldo Garcia A Matrix would be a simpler approach but with less options. On the X32, a mix contains individual input channels but a Matrix contains mixes (such as your main LR mix). On some other brands, a matrix can do both but most digital mixers (including the X32) can only contain mixes. Using a matrix can be useful if you want to send a version of your Main LR mix but falls short, compared to a mix, if you wanted to adjust certain levels up, down, panning, etc. For example, room mics - room mics should NOT be in your Main LR mix. To add them to a matrix for recording, you would have to add them to their own mix and then route that to the recording matrix. This is a waste of resources since you are now using 2 matrices AND 2 mixes to make this happen (in stereo). Generally, if you have the available busses, I much prefer to use a recording mix over a recording matrix. Hope that clears things up :) - Chad
Hi Chad, we were using a separate bus mix for live stream for a while but it was just way too much work and it required a 2nd soundman to mix the stream. I decided to go with a matrix of the FOH and it is much easier. I have always added an ambient mic to the live stream mix to eliminate that homogeneous sound. Now that I am matrixed to FOH the only way to profit from an ambient mic is to fade it up in FOH, not what I want. Is there a way to send that channel (#07) to matrix 1 only and not hear it in the mains?
3 options for you. - You cannot send individual channels to a matrix on the X32. However, you can send the ambiance mic(s) to a mix bus or pair of busses and then send that to the matrix. - OR, what I would probably do is what I describe in this video and have your mix be a post-fade mix. Essentially, this will be the same thing as your matrix mix but will also give you the ability to make adjustments as needed, allow you to blend in channels like your room mics, and won't waste both Matrix AND Mix channels. - Finally, if you only have one room mic and are not already using your M/C mix, that could be utilized as well. You can send your Room mics to the M/C and not the stereo bus and then send the M/C mix to the matrix you are streaming from. However, if you have stereo room mics, this will be summed to mono doing it this way and your mixes won't feel as wide. Also, again, you are using more resources to make this happen. If you aren't using your M/C mix, only have a single room mic, and you simply cannot give up 2 mix busses, this is the best route for you. Otherwise, I suggest you set up a pair of busses for a post-fade mix, lean back, and relax. Haha. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any more questions :) -Chad
Hi Chad, I’m trying to se up a livestream feed thru matrices 5&6, our drums have a shield but still get a lot of dynamics in the room so the drums it’s mic’up but I keep the levels low in FOH, the mics are more for the purpose of our in ear monitors and to get a little bit of that kick drum dynamic in the room, so my question is if I set up post fader isn’t that going to affect the way the drums go out to the live stream?
In your example, I suggest doing like the video suggests and using a pair of busses instead of matrices. That way you can boost the drums more on your stream without affecting your live mix. -Chad
Hello, I'm trying to get effects to be routed out of the card outputs into a Facebook live stream. Can I achieve this by using your example of routing a bus mix (that has effects ) routed out of my XLive card which FB live is pulling from? Right now I just have the main mix of the board going out of the card, but the effects never get to the FB live stream (like reverb) the actual recording the listeners hear is a dry mix. - Thanks in advance!
Hey Chad this is awesome stuff! Question, I didn’t understand why ambient mics help the guys with IEMs. Is it so they just keep the Inears in the whole time?
Daniel Martin Yeah, it helps them to hear how the crowd is responding while still keeping their in-ears in. Also produces a nice bit of natural reverb for the drums :)
Terry Howell Good question. If everything works as it should, you should need very little adjustment on this mix. Usually, from week to week, you may find you want to make sight adjustments to the drums, FX, or speech mics. Again, this is assuming that you’ve tuned your room well, you’re pulling a good FOH mix, and that you have stage volume as controlled as possible :)
So quick question, if I’m using an x32 and I’d like to send the audio to my computer to obs and stream from obs. How do I do this? Through usb card? Through usb console? Please help!
Ascension Worship - #TechTuesday thank you for the response, so the usb card if I select the bus and the output group of 8 in routing, it doesn’t effect any of the inputs on that group right? And will obs receive this audio directly as an input source or do I need to get logic or something
Caleb DesJardins Not certain of what options are in OBS so I would: on the X32 go to Routing -> Card and set your card outputs 1-8 to send outs 1-8. In the outputs tab, make sure your record busses are being sent to outs 1 and 2. If you are using outs 1 and 2 for something else already, another option is to route those busses to P16 1 and 2 and send P16 1-8 out Card Outs 1-8. Either way, in OBS, select the X32 as your interface and use channels 1 and 2 as your left and right. -Chad
Not exactly (at least not with an X32). However, you can use a pair of matrices to send your main mix to and then compress it differently for a broadcast mix. For example, you may want to apply the Precision Limiter to boost the volume online. If you're tight on mixes due to monitor sends, you may want to consider adding a second console to cover in-ears and monitors. This will free up mixes on your FOH console for broadcast mixes etc. -Chad
On an X32, you select your ambience mic channels, click the sends tab, then change the tap point of your record buses to pre-fade. Thanks for watching and commenting! -Chad
Wellspring Wesleyan hey there. 2 thoughts come to mind. Obviously, I haven’t heard your system, but very often I see churches with bad gain staging which leads to choked sounding stream mixes. This is often because a church may have the house speakers too loud and are therefore running their input gains too low. I have an entire playlist about gain. Here’s a quick video that may be helpful - m.ruclips.net/video/-1DiCygXYOI/видео.html Another solution worth looking at is adding a brick wall limiter to your stream busses to give you a volume boost while also protecting against digital distortion. If you’re using an X32, watch the video we’re commenting on around the 14 minute mark to learn a little about the Precision Limiter. Hope that gets you pointed in the right direction :) -Chad
@@AWTechTuesday We have SQ-6 and using one of the Aux in Stereo to get the mix. That's why I was trying to understand more about matrix to see what is the best option/setup for our Stream. BTW - Congratulations on your videos man, I really like them and learning a lot.
Gonzalo Martinez I don’t remember off the top of my head but I’m 90% certain that matrices on the SQ act like that of the X32, meaning that you can send mixes to the matrix and not individual channels. Of course, there’s the small possibility that I’m wrong. It’s a rare occurrence but it has been know to happen now and then :) Thanks so much for watching and commenting! -Chad
Hey Chad. Long time fan here. I wanted to know how you got your ambiance mics on aux 7/8? Is it a remap situation? I was under the impression Behringer locked people out of changing that from the usb
Hey Justin! Thanks for watching and commenting. In this video, it's not a remap but it's a soft-patch. I rarely (if ever) use the USB returns. Instead, I like to move things that I need but rarely touch (like room mics) to those channels. This allows me to have 2 extra channels on the first 2 layers. This is helpful in case I want to double patch a channel or if I need to move one of my Aux input pairs to the first 2 layers to use the extra processing (the first 32 channels have gates and compressors but the 3rd layer does not). Here's a fun video that shows how to soft-patch and a cool trick you can do with soft-patching - ruclips.net/video/VtuspPJSVH0/видео.html Please let me know if you have any more questions :) -Chad
Josh Andrew Brown That the OLD version of X32-Edit. I use it for training just because it looks more like an actual X32 but unfortunately I don’t think you can download it any longer. -Chad
Just use a tablet or computer and have some one mix it from another location so they will have a frame of reference of the broadcast mix. You will never be able to get an accurate broadcast mix from FOH. Then you essentially have a separate virtual broadcast console. i would use the aux sends pre fader post dynamics
Absolutely, you are correct. This video is designed for churches without the equipment or volunteers necessary to do that. Otherwise, you can go one further and get an X32 core or other something similar and not only have separate volume control but also separate eq, compression, and effects :) Thanks for watching and commenting! -Chad
I have a couple of x32's myself and sometimes use a monitor console for shows but I have thought about a x32 core just because it's so portable that it would be great for a second console to run from tablet.
So, with the way you are explaining in this video there is no way to send separate eq to the broadcast mix right? The only way to do that is to have a X32 rack or separate console, etc? I was trying to figure out if there was any way to send separate eq to a broadcast mix with just one X32 console. I really want to make a great fb live mix. With drums, I feel like you can't make it really nice and punchy without separate eq/ compression, etc. The house mix just does not do it how I would like
great video!! Where do I plug XLR cable from my live stream camera in on my Behringer x32. I want to get audio to the live stream, so that spot you talked about is NEEDED BAD. How to program the Card, the channels, etc to get the audio to be sent OUT to my camera?? HELP!!
James B. Hall, MD Hey James, I don’t have a mixer in front of me this moment, but you should be able to go to Routing -> Outs1-16 choose an output or pair of outputs (for stereo) that are not being used and select busses you’re using for your stream mix to go out of those outputs. I hope that helps :) -Chad

We are using the x-usb card to send audio directly to a computer (running a slightly dated version of Wirecast, where I cannot see any audio volume settings). Is there anything I can do to get this separate mix to be even louder when sent to the broadcast computer?
Love the channel,
Jalen
Jalen H Hey Jalen! That’s for the encouraging word! Did you try what I do around 14:30 in this video and apply the Precision Limiter to your stream mix? That could make a huge difference for you.
Thanks for watching and commenting

This video shows me a lot. But the only confusion I have is the introduction of streaming matrixes. Can you do the same control on matrixes like you do with Rec buses. Or how did you add the matrixes or is a complete different ball game
Thank you so much
Arnaldo Garcia A Matrix would be a simpler approach but with less options.
Hope that clears things up :)

Thank you so much. I want to do like you show in this video, is like having two boards in some point of view
Let me know if you have any more questions :)

Ascension Worship - #TechTuesday I tried with buses but I ain’t getting any effects and I set to post fader
Scott Wiggins Absolutely. Just make sure that the FX returns are up in the mix that is going online :)
-Chad
@@AWTechTuesday Thanks!
@@AWTechTuesday one last question, I don't need OBS or a similar software do I? I can just feed the mixbus into FB?
Scott Wiggins Not certain about that but I think you need something like OBS.
After this initial setup of the broadcast mix for online streaming, how much attention is normally required from sound person to mix afterwards?
Terry Howell Good question. If everything works as it should, you should need very little adjustment on this mix. Usually, from week to week, you may find you want to make sight adjustments to the drums, FX, or speech mics. Again, this is assuming that you’ve tuned your room well, you’re pulling a good FOH mix, and that you have stage volume as controlled as possible :)
So quick question, if I’m using an x32 and I’d like to send the audio to my computer to obs and stream from obs. How do I do this? Through usb card? Through usb console? Please help!
Caleb DesJardins I’d use the built-in USB card. That would be the easiest.
Either way, in OBS, select the X32 as your interface and use channels 1 and 2 as your left and right.

can i use the matrix 1&2 to do this? I have used up all my bus for monitoring and other side fills
-Chad
How do you make just the ambience mics pre-fade in the post-fade record mixbus?
On an X32, you select your ambience mic channels, click the sends tab, then change the tap point of your record buses to pre-fade.

Ascension Worship - #TechTuesday thanks, super helpful. Love the videos.
Thank you!
Why is my volume so low on the live stream,?
Wellspring Wesleyan hey there. 2 thoughts come to mind. Obviously, I haven’t heard your system, but very often I see churches with bad gain staging which leads to choked sounding stream mixes. This is often because a church may have the house speakers too loud and are therefore running their input gains too low. I have an entire playlist about gain. Here’s a quick video that may be helpful - m.ruclips.net/video/-1DiCygXYOI/видео.html
Another solution worth looking at is adding a brick wall limiter to your stream busses to give you a volume boost while also protecting against digital distortion. If you’re using an X32, watch the video we’re commenting on around the 14 minute mark to learn a little about the Precision Limiter.
Hope that gets you pointed in the right direction :)

What is better for Livestream Aux or Matrix?
Great question. On the X32/M32, you have more options with an aux (assuming that you have a pair of aux busses available).
It’s a rare occurrence but it has been know to happen now and then :)
Thanks so much for watching and commenting!

@@AWTechTuesday Thank you Chad on taking the time and respond. I'll keep you updated on what I'll do next Sunday :)
Here's a fun video that shows how to soft-patch and a cool trick you can do with soft-patching - ruclips.net/video/VtuspPJSVH0/видео.html
Please let me know if you have any more questions :)

What program/app are you using here?
Josh Andrew Brown That the OLD version of X32-Edit. I use it for training just because it looks more like an actual X32 but unfortunately I don’t think you can download it any longer.
-Chad
@@AWTechTuesday Thank you. Do you know if I can set up a midi controller to control the faders on the bus mix(for live-streaming)?
Josh Andrew Brown Not sure but curious as to why you’d want to. You may want to look into the X-touch products. That may work for your needs.
Otherwise, you can go one further and get an X32 core or other something similar and not only have separate volume control but also separate eq, compression, and effects :)
Thanks for watching and commenting!
-Chad
I have a couple of x32's myself and sometimes use a monitor console for shows but I have thought about a x32 core just because it's so portable that it would be great for a second console to run from tablet.
I love your videos BTW
Aw thanks! I'm thinking of getting a core to use as a means of a backup recording. Some cool things you could do with that :)
I hope that helps :)
