  • Find out how my ENVO MASK has held up after being worn for the last 7 months in the busiest ER of Pennsylvania.
I have no affiliation with this company.
If you have not seen my first envo mask review I suggest watching that as well!
    Thanks!

I also love this mask! bc it’s a LOT more comfortable and did not cause the skin damage the standard N95 was causing me. Unfortunately, mine did fall apart after approximately 8 months. The plastic front piece cracked, straps were stretching out (never hung it from my neck), and almost the entire gel part fell off. Luckily my job pays for it and is replacing it at no cost to me :). I work with all Covid pt’s, so I feel work should cover the cost. I’m shocked that there are nurses having to buy it themselves!…that’s not right :(.

This mask is fantastic. I am required to wear a surgical mask over it, so I don't use the valve cap or envo cover. I figured less manipulation of attachments would limit wear and tear further. Yes, my straps have broken down as well after 6 months of use (3 days per week, 20 hours). Totally to be expected as I remove it every hour to hydrate myself. I ordered a replacement strap, but am happy to the Etsy listings. I would like to see more people wearing it!

Ordered mine last March (2020). My son finally got on board and bough one. His came in about 10 days.
They are not expensive. Considering it’s your health and the comfortability.
I don’t work in a healthcare facility. So, I don’t wear it 8-12 hr days.
I work from home but when I go out I like to protect myself from all those nose commandos and people who actually think a single layer cloth mask is going to prevent them from being infected.
The valve does have a plug for the vent.
I have the vent plug and the shield. The shield is not for others. It’s to protect the filter from getting spayed with liquid. Such as rain.

Thanks for the update video. There’s a reason why their instructions explicitly state to attach the top connector FIRST and then connect the bottom black arrows before finally pushing in the side clips. I noticed in your review video that you attached the bottom black arrows first then snapped together the top. I cringed when I saw that. There’s a specific order when attaching and removing the cover to prevent damage. I’m afraid of breaking my cover when trying to remove the side tabs. The side tabs on mine are incredibly tight and I have to use a lot of force to detach it. I hope those hold up and don’t eventually break.

I have an ENVO mask and after I saw your review and this video I decided to take a closer look at the shell that houses the filter. You mentioned the broken center clip. Now my mask was purchased in August and certainly does not have the use that yours does. But took a magnifying glass and inspected the left, right, and top center clips. The top center is cracked almost center. One of the side clips has stress fractures. The opposite side may be just showing the beginning of fatigue.
I ordered a new shell half from ENVO so if it fails I have a replacement. I'm an engineer and worked in a few industries. Plastics being one. Yours breaking had nothing to do with you or the amount of use. Its a design flaw in my opinion. The two shells with the filter media inside fit too tight. If you notice no problem putting it together and getting the center and one side. But the last side takes a lot of pressure. Also separating the shells takes quite a bit of force as well. I think that's what causes the top center to crack. The rest is just too much force for the thickness of the material. The ENVO video shows they want the top clip and bottom arrow aligned and clipped. Then compress one side, then the other. I saw another video by a doctor who did them in rotation. One side, then center, and last the opposite side. Using the already compressed filter it still takes too much force to combine the two shells. With a new uncompressed filter its much harder. I'm sure you noticed yourself. So unless there's some variability in manufacturing I would think they're all pretty much the same. Their gonna crack eventually and unless you take a close look the user won't know until it fails.
Have a great day. Good luck on your new job.

Alcohol is a solvent of plastic. I would recommend that you NOT use alcohol wipes on your mask. Unless you know exactly what type of plastic your mask is made of, anytime you wipe plastic with alcohol you risk a reaction. I'm a paramedic, and I have seen many pieces of medical equipment screens develop "White haze" because they are wiped repeatedly with a alcohol wipes.

    • @VT-mw2zb

It sucks that the most common impact resistant clear plastic is polycarbonate, which is dissolved by alcohol.

after watching your vid (thanks) i bought one, i have to say the seal is good, and i've tried a lot of masks (airhead, stealth, lg puricare, atmoblue, gill, canopy etc) and this is the first one that actually had a good seal on me.
    the breathability is great too.
    i have some complaints though:
    - because of it's small size i don't find it comfortable, it sits on my chin and my nose touches the inside plastic "bracing". they need a bigger size
    - the straps are too firm (not enough elasticity), so you have to tighten them up to get a good fit and then you start getting headaches from the tight straps
    - the straps aren't individually adjustable (the neck strap should be separate than head strap so you can tighten each one as needed, not one long thread that both tighten together)
    - the mask looks idiotic, mainly because it's a 1/4 mask instead of a 1/2 mask. they need to make a half mask model that seals under the chin. it's really embarrassing wearing one so i just wear a surgical mask over the top of it to hide it.
    - the filters don't look like they are 4 layers to me, they are paper thin, i cut one up and i cant see 4 separate layers.......maybe i am wrong

They should have made the mask frame out of polycarbonate instead of acrylic. PC bends instead of shatters. Much more compliant and impact-resistant. That's what the idMASK uses. I also appreciate their elastic retention band more than the Envo. Even the "halo" only provides one point of contact. The idMASK provides a two-way split for a much more even fit.

I'd want to wash the area that's up against my face between wearings if I was wearing it often, in case that area is contaminated. Wouldn't want to reinfect myself. But... I think you said the filters should last about a week. Curious how you handle that. Or maybe I'm just being unnecessarily cautious and the material doesn't hold onto viruses for more than a short time? If you have time to respond, I'd love to see your thoughts. Thanks!

Gotcha, I am not her. However, I do have one. Now, after a day of wearing it you would have to clean it as bad stuff would build up in it that you could smell or kinda taste due to the moister. I personally don't like them however there is really no alts. Mine broke after 2 months and so they replace it. Now if you twist the head strap than it really does damage it. There is a way to prevent it. If you put the halo first on first then the neck strip you can easy get out the twist.
The problem they have are: The seal is easy broken especially if you smile or talk. If you talk, then you have to be careful to not move your month that much. If you do talk lots in it than it rips the gel which is in case with plastic off of the body. The head strip material isn't good, it's will stretch which lowers the quality of the seal. The gel isn't flexible unlike silicon. To me silicon feels better. How you remove the filter and put it back on will eventually loosen and than breaks those tabs. To add to that the force of the head straps. Overall it's seems quite cheaply made.
What I like is there are covers that goes over the filter and the exhalation value and so unlike any other human power particle respirator it doesn't blast the person who you are interviewing or talking to.
The reason why I got it was because I was an enumerator for the Census Bureau with working over 50 hours per week, at least 6 days and I was coming into contact with sick people a few times per week. Some of them open up their door to told me they were sick. While others deny it but it was obvious. Than there was a few that ask me to removed it so they could hear me better while sick. This one person I remember had a fit cause he told me that he couldn't hear me well cause he was ill and so he requested for me to move it.... I refused and told him I will speak up more, than despite being very pushy to do the interview anyway... he slammed the door. With this being said, I couldn't afford to get it and it was likely that I would because I also saw many elderly people. I tired to get tested on a regular basis but the urgent care that I ask refused due to bozo legal reason due to our poor response to the virus.
Anyways, sorry about the poor grammar and such it's just I have things to do and I don't have that much time to spend.

@@Katherine_Ann ok one more question. I have had covid and I am still having long term symptoms such as headaches which I found out today get much worse after wearing a mask all day. In your opinion..would you say the breathing ability is better than the paper N95 or the cheap cloth masks people are selling. I really appreciate your taking the time to answer.. I love RUclips and the helpful information one can get here.

Come on Nurse Katherine, these are for protection against covid so do a real test. Try this: aerosolized bear spray is ~10X bigger than aerosolized covid. How the Envo mask work against it?

Hi William's! I have been told it is not allowed due to the exhalation valve but they do have a valve cover that comes with them now. I would double check with your airline to make sure.
